It's really strange that they'd have so many campaigns on the Sword's Coast and not have them centre around Waterdeep.

They talk about Water Deep a lot in Baldur's Gate. I'm sure if Interplay had kept making D&D games they would've done one there eventually.

Another thing I really liked about 1 is how you could just walk around the city and go into houses and there would be little inconsequential scenarios happening all over, and in BG2 there isn't really anything like that. IT'S ALL IMPORTANT QUESTS.

I played it and it was so bad I had to stop.

All of the 2nd Edition RPGs sucked. Actually, I guess since Stronghold and Fantasy Empires were 1st Edition, all of the 2nd Edition games sucked, period.

Stronghold was okay, but I'm sure I'd hate it now.

Baldur's Gate 2 really is one of the best CRPGs that was made. The first one isn't so great.

Apparently Temple of Elemental Evil is quite good, and it's the only turnbased 3.5 edition game made. One of these days I'll get around to playing it.

I know it's still a focal point, it's just weird that they made 3 Neverwinter Nights games, even more Baldur's Gate games, and even an Icewind Dale game, but not a single Waterdeep game.

Not to mention the rest of Faerun. Silverymoon is certainly a more important city than Baldur's Gate. Or Shadowdale.

NWN is turn based. It's pseudo-realtime where the turns last a fixed duration.

They really only made 3 Baldur's Gate games (and really you shouldn't count the Dark Alliance games since they really have absolutely nothing to do with D&D). BG2 takes place in Amn (and I believe you go to Silvermoon by the end, or at least some gay ass Elven city).

The Icewind Dale games were made because of those goddawful fantasy novels.

I believe they were intending to set part of the original plan for Neverwinter Nights in Waterdeep, but that got scrapped since the game took seven or eight years to make.

Waterdeep is the City of Splendors. It's one of the largest cities in the realms, and the site of many important events.

It also houses Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun, and his consort Laeral Silverhand (both chosen of Mystra). And it's right above Undermountain, which is the home of Halastar, who is another archmage of considerable note (and Imaskari, if I recall).
