Apple is exceedingly proprietary. It's basically bad for development at all.

That's why all of the software that Apples were historically known for are now more common and more widely used on PCs.

They're also really terrible when it comes to user interfaces. They're all about using nonstandard widget sets all over the place and ignoring design practices on a whim.

Of course, Microsoft is almost as bad in that regard.

Actually, the biggest problem with Apple is that their CEO is the biggest asshole I have ever heard about in the business world.

The way I look at it, you shouldn't buy a computer if you don't like technology, and if you DO like technology, then it's reasonable to consider the extra money you pay for a Mac PC as a donation to the technology company that "just works"!
