I use twitter to gauge the zeitgeist or global consciousness. That's when I saw a lot of makeup tweets with that term in it. It offended me.

Capitalizing "Black", as in "Police officers are not always super nice to Black people". Also "White".

Most race terms are total failures. Israel, Russia and India are all in Asia, yet you can't call those people "Asian", because they're not yellow. But don't fucking ever say "yellow"!!! And certainly for god's sake don't say "oriental" because that's a gigantic problem for some reason. And speaking of Indian, what race are Pakistani and Bangladeshi people? Can you call them "brown"? When somebody says "I'm brown", is that like saying "I'm white", or is it more like "I'm a dyke"?

Also, you have two seconds to address a crowd of 100 red guys whose ancestors lived in North America before 1607 and tell them what race they belong to without pissing off any of them, go.

I think my prediction about last decade being "the two thousands" is mostly coming true, with a little more support for "aughts" than I predicted, but meanwhile in the UK "noughties" is really happening for real. A Telegraph article named Ja Rule as a "Noughties rapper" and didn't feel the need to define it! I almost googled whether that was a group he was in.
