I second TL. While it's true that the USA is pretty ruthless the USA isn't at the height of it's power (the american grip over latin america isn't as tight as it was in the 20th century) and can't just simply tell every non-first world country to fuck off.
Or not. Befriending a theocratic muslim power that trolled the west and is arguably an enemy of Israel just doesn't seem to be this country's style. Whatever, sorry for this post. _________________ To continue is power -Shitbeast |

Why was Ahmednijad so great? Or do you just like him for the same retarded chest-thumping reasons that Americans like Republican politicians? |

He was not part of the aging political elite.
He undertook big projects that was beneficial to the poor, even though he kept being referred to as being "populist", which is easy for someone rich to say, but for a poor person, it actually matters, such as his huge project where the government was responsible to build afforable housing with easy payment schemes, that allowed a significient percentage of the population to be able to own a home.
He removed government subsidies for a lot of stuff, which was always being discussed among the economists and past presidents, but no one dared doing it, because they feared public backlash. Ahmadenijad did it, and every government after him will benefit from it.
Without making it a campaign slogan, Ahmednijad did a lot for minorities and women, even though no one ever mentions that, because he just did it, not talk about it all day. When he was setting up his government, he was the first Iranian president to have 3 women in his cabinet (although the parliament only approved one of them). Rohani, the so called reformer president, didn't offer even one.
As for minorities, Ahmadenijad spend a lot of time visiting all areas of Iran. He even came to our home town, which is not only a tiny city of only 20,000 population, but we're also a Sunni city, making us a minority city. Its the first time a state of leader has spent so much time in cities which doesn't really much effect his presidential profile. Other presidents spent more time in tehran with the Bazaaris and clerics and business men, making deals, while AHmedinijad was on the ground, meeting people.
He as a very humble, easy going, relaxed, honest president.
He wasn't only unfairly attacked abroad, but also by politicians at home. Western media somehow portrays President Ahmadenijad as very close to the system, while the new president are more anti-establishment, except it was the complete opposite. The current president, the previous preisdents were all clerics and very close to the old dinasours, but Ahmadenijad came on board as a very young politician, with young people in his government, and their frankness got them in a lot of trouble with the aging politicians who didn't like someone young coming in and shaking things up. |

I get it. The west embargoed Iran for the same reason they embargoed Nicragua; they don't want these reforms to spread to other middle eastern countries; thus remotely interfering with the arrangements the west has there. (ok and Nicaragua went communist; but there is obviously something else there.
Not sure why the west hates third world reform so much, but there you have it. _________________ To continue is power -Shitbeast |

MADali, does everyone in Iran seriously believe the US is about to collapse? I heard a story on NPR that said the state media is insistent on this fact. I also remember you saying something to the same effect when you were buying gold. |

MADali, do you believe feminism is merely misguided or a malevolent load of crap?
Furthermore, given that Islam has had a crippling effect on the Mahommedan character, should Iran go back to Zorastrianism? Let's face it Islam has been working pretty shitty for you guys. _________________ To continue is power -Shitbeast |

Does Arabic just have one vowel? It seems to be totally up to the translator. |
