Sometimes I feel like we should just "format the hard drive" and start a new board.

Not necessarily delete this one, but just archive it and start everything and everyone fresh!

The mandatory move every six months back in the day was kind of good for the board, I feel.

Of course, I feel like the recent spike in posting is probably just a novelty and this place will be dead again in a couple weeks so it's probably not worth doing, but too many old, awful posts are overly accessible. It's like trying to have dinner on top of a pile of rotting meat.

Go back and read some of your posts from 2007.

Now imagine someone reading those posts today and ascribing to your present self the thinking, demeanor, habits, humor level, opinions, and quality of expression conveyed by those posts, since you can't give contemporary annotations on each of them to explain how you are different now, or how much you may in fact despise and disavow posts that you were happy with, even proud of, back then, and how people can and do use those old posts as a basis for up-to-the-minute opinions about you.

Admittedly this is a much bigger problem for some of us than for others.

I don't know why you get so narcissistic about your posts when you're aware that they'll inevitably decompose.
