I'm basically trying to get a job like this but I can't and if I go get them it only pays $9 an hour. _________________

It actually is possible to manipulate the machine into giving you a good score, to a certain extent. I indulge in this myself, as much as I think I can get away with. It's also possible to do underhanded things like bribe the person who delivers the bundles of work, so they only give you good ones. One thing I haven't had the balls to try myself is encode a bunch of blank cards to pad my item count. That's really risky though!
She is genuinely powerful though. She's been doing the job for many years, and it wouldn't be possible to fake it the whole time. Especially with having so much attention. People actually come from all over whenever they have time just to watch her, like it's some freak show. I've made the pilgrimage to her workstation once myself, and I could see that she encodes legit items, and has two in there at a time. She's the real f'in deal.
Speaking of the real f'in deal ... Vincent, did you mean to say that the job you want requires credentials, and still only pays $9 an hour? That's bullshit! You should try working for a bank, they're not so stingy. Or an oil company, they can just throw money around like it's nothing. My brother got a job with an oil company, it's some random labour job that requires no education or skills, and it pays $26 an hour. The really crazy thing is the money he can make with overtime. He told me that even if he's not scheduled to work on a certain day, he can just show up at the building, and they'll be like, "Hey man, how's it going?! Do you want to do some work? Since you're not scheduled to work today, you know you'll be making double time and a half, right?" he once made like $1,000 in two days.
With the way the economy is now, my other job practically established a zero tolerance policy for overtime. Even if you log a single hour of overtime in a week they get all pissy. These oil companies though, they just don't give a shit! |

Well, what I'm saying is that it's extremely hard to find a job where I live and when I do find it, I make like 10 bucks an hour at best. Right now I'm working telemarketing for minimum wage and I want to die. I try to get charity donations for a police organization and today an old woman told me she couldn't donate because she was going to die soon. We're supposed to stick to the script so I looked at the "FINANCIAL SITUATION/HEALTH ISSUE" rebuttal and said "I understand ma'am but many people in your situation do find a way to donate."
My best paying job ever was doing backbreaking construction work in a prison for like 33 dollars an hour for a week. It only lasted a week or I'd probably still do it despite my feet were horrifically mangled after that week from buying $10 steel toed boots from Wal-Mart.
I really should have gotten a different degree in college. _________________

I think I would need to find a job in another area first before I would move. Also, I have no money to move. _________________

I think my mom does/did something similar to what Roy's doing. She worked in the Proof department at a bank, and would type something in while she fed checks into a machine. I guess they did away with it, and all checks are now scanned into a computer instead. |
