I admit that Rocky Balboa was a worse movie but I still hated Rocky V. For videogaming-caveman reasons Rocky 4 is the best obviously. I think you're probably right about the Hunger Games too. You're probably right about everything.... |

eeyyllllyyllley YO. my life ith all sad cause my ugly wife died. everybody is miserable until i prove that an old man can fight some super generic black opponent it's fucking impossible to remember a second after the movie ends. stuff is happier afterwards I guess even though I still live my boring restauranteur life alone save for the fat waitress i hired who has a kid and shit. |

IV better than III? Madness. Mind you III and IV are the only ones I actually like. |

I'm glad you agree. The mainstream debut of Mr.T (And Hulk Hogan!) combined with the transformation of Rocky from an M.Piedlourde dolt to an agile and aggressive Donkey Kong is infinitely more preferable to a sorrowfully out of date allegory for the Cold War.

Rocky I is a great film, although kind of slow as movies from the 70s tend to be. It also has basically no relation to the other Rocky movies.
Rocky II is fucking terrible until the last half hour, which is one of the greatest things ever filmed.
Rocky III is brilliant and the most entertaining of the series in a non-ironic sense. Plus, Hulk Hogan AND Mr. T. I mean, really.
Rocky IV is bad, but amazing in an ironic sense. Paulie's robot! James Brown! Rocky running up a goddamn 15,000 foot mountain in a bomber jacket and regular snow boots! There's a reason Bill Simmons literally built his entire career on making Rocky IV references.
Rocky V sucks, but people hate it even more than it deserves because it's such a step down. Also, it's depressing. This defeats the entire purpose of Rocky movies.
Rocky Balboa is OK, and it is the reverse of Rocky V in that everyone was pleasantly surprised by it because it seems like it SHOULD be horrendously awful and managed to be OK.
Godfather III is not actually THAT bad, but it isn't good and Sofia Coppola's performance is legendarily, hilariously horrible. |

Haha I forgot that part of Rocky V involves Rocky being so brain-damaged that he hallucinates Burgess Meredith being there, squawking wisdom at him.
Then he punches the guy onto the car!!!! Does Rocky Balboa explain whether he actually sued, like he said he would? |

Actually Rocky V is retconned out of existence and is treated as though it never occurred!
Which is for the best. |

I like depressing stuff, so that's probably why I don't mind Rocky V. At least it has an interesting villain, because he's a monster that Rocky created. And the Elton John song at the end is classy!
I think they made Mason "The Line" Dixon shitty on purpose, because they wanted an opponent that a 59 year old Rocky could realistically compete against. But Rocky was never realistic in the first place. Otherwise, a mediocre club fighter with 23 losses would have never gone on to defeat a steroid enhanced, Russian super saiyan with 2,000 PSI punches. |
