| They have Yerba Mate drinks up here, are all forms of it highly caffeinated? It seems to beat even coffee out of the water in that department. |

Sugar in tea is an abomination.
I think less of people that add sugar and salt to things. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

I used to add sugar to my tea (well, AGAVE SYRUP, ehehheh) but not anymore!
I mostly drink Jasmine Green, Chai, and a few types of Rooibos at home. _________________

| I don't really like flavored teas other than earl grey or jasmine. I enjoy drinking chai but don't have any interest in making it at home. Sometimes I get the iced chai from Pantera Bread |

Theldorrin, I don't think you can make a sweeping statement like that about sugar in tea.
Yes sugar WOULD be an abomination in green tea or a breakfast tea and many other kinds, but in a fruit tea or a vanilla or chocolate tea (FOR EXAMPLE) it can be acceptable. It brings out the flavor. Fruit itself is sugary (as are vanilla and chocolate) and these flavors are "designed" to go with sweetness. It's a natural pairing.
Not that I put sugar in my tea, generally, but I will do so now and then and can appreciate it that way.
And sometimes things really need a dash of salt, particularly if you didn't add any during the cooking process. |

It sounds like you're talking about a tisane, not tea.
I don't really approve of cooking, generally speaking. Salt and sugar are acceptable in baking, though. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

It's not a tisane if it's still made with tea, which chocolate and presumably vanilla tea is!
I sympathize with wanting terminology to be precise everywhere but it's very unlikely and nothing to be a DICK about |

Vanilla and chocolate aren't sugary, and they may or may not be tisanes, because calling them vanilla/chocolate tea is insufficient information, since that stuff can also be made with other bases. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |
