This thread is about Lost.
I hope someone else on this board still watches Lost. |

I'm kind of amazed that the finale didn't explain any of the remaining mysteries and yet I don't even care.
I mean, Walt seemed like the key for two seasons and ended up having nothing to do with anything, and the numbers were just explained in one throwaway line about Jacob having a thing for numbers. We don't even really know what the light was or why it or the island even mattered once the smoke monster died. This stuff seems like it should bother me! But the ending was very touching and so who cares about that other crap.
However, the resolution of the Sideways world does make it seem unlikely that we will get a spinoff Sawyer/Miles buddy cop show, which is a disappointment. |

I also enjoyed the ending. I think the light on the island was basically whatever their version of the afterlife is. Which is why it was so important.
At least that's what I'm going to believe. |

Today I think I did the gayest thing I have ever done in my life. I rewatched the Lost finale and I cried uncontrollably from the time Jack realized he was dead in the sideways til the very end. I tried to hide from my girlfriend in the kitchen so she wouldn't know but she ended up seeing me. I told her not to tell anyone and she consoled me by telling me she cried during Pikachu's goodbye but that didn't help because that was when she was like 12.
I agree with Yogurtman. I figured I'd be upset if they didn't explain who built the statue or what the deal is with the light, and I certainly thought I would hate any kind of purgatory explanation, but they pulled it off in the most perfect way possible. Season 6 has sucked overall but the finale was gorgeous and I'm glad they ended it the way they did. The whole explanation for the sideways reminded me of Jacob's Ladder, and to me that is more satisfying than any other explanation they could have given.
Vincent curling up next to Jack before he died, and then him watching the plane take off... fuck, it's so touching.
I can only imagine that Jason is locked in his room sobbing uncontrollably right now. |

Almost all of the characters are vile individuals. What is the draw of the show if the mysteries are just made up on a whim and the characters are Gimp Mask/Jason hybrids? _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

I am basically everyone who hated the finale rolled up into one Genki-Dama except I didn't see the finale, I just predicted it. |

I loved the finale. Seeing people's responses to seeing Charlie in the sideways and Jin smiling at Sawyer just showed me how much of an impact these people had on each others lives, it was very sweet.
I guess I felt that through out this season they had answered enough of the questions for me (although I later realized about the statue and the numbers). Going into the finale I knew there was not going to be a simple answer, like if someone asked you what the big secret of Lost is, you couldn't really give them a simple answer. I think the fact that they are supposed to be coming out with an encyclopedia for the show also made me not worry about them revealing everything because I can just read about the statue and everything later. _________________ Said the Captain PUNisher. |

See, the fact that they're not revealing a lot of this shit until they release the encyclopedia and the DVD box set is such a blatant cash-grab move. How is that not infuriating? |

Ok I'm just gonna throw this out there to all the haters, because a lot of people who barely watched Lost in the first place seem to think that the finale made it clear that they were in purgatory all along.
THE ISLAND WAS REAL. EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED ON THE ISLAND REALLY HAPPENED.
THE FLASHSIDEWAYS WAS PURGATORY, KIND OF. IT WAS A PLACE OUTSIDE OF TIME WHERE THEY COULD ALL MEET IN THEIR FINAL MOMENTS BEFORE MOVING ON, IT WAS WHAT FLASHED BEFORE THEIR EYES RIGHT BEFORE THEY DIED, AT WHATEVER TIME THEY DIED. |

Doesn't that make the sideways universe just a big non-sequitor? Why is it important that everyone dies eventually? |

It's pretty clear they can't 'reveal' everything, because they don't know how it works either. Events in the Lost universe mostly just happen on a whim.
Where did that airdrop of Dharma initiative supplies come from? They could say anything and it'd be equally plausible, because the universe has no rules. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

The problem is this. At least in the first three seasons that I watched, the main thrust of the series for me was the mysteries of the island. To change the focus and decide that those mysteries aren't as important as a bunch of retard characters is a huge cop-out. Explaining this stuff isn't important because Jack's a great guy who sacrificed his life and needed to live in a dream world with his buds to accept death or whatever is, I GUESS, emotionally strong, but it doesn't really follow the original premise. |

So was it that they were all dead, and it was purgatory? Because that was my call in season 2. |
