So I just quit my job and I have about a week and a half until I need to move out. As such, I want to beat a Super Nintendo JRPG. At hand I have Breath of Fire 2, Ogre Battle, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Evermore and Final Fantasy 3.

What shitty fucking JRPG should I run through?

Breath of Fire was one of, if not the first, JRPG that involved murdering God. The entire series has my respect.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Breath of Fire 2 alright, but out of the choices available, it's definately the worst.

I didn't pick Ogre Battle because I had a craving for it a few months ago, and I torrented it, but it was too easy to break and I fucking annihilated the first few maps. Plus the lack of interaction in fights was just getting super boring and I was idling more than I was actually playing.

Chrono Trigger is definitely fun as fuck, but it also is super easy. I wish there were harder games (I think BoF2 is difficult, but I forget).

Chrono Trigger has the best music and the variety of the game is really fun. Plus, I named all the characters after Wire characters and it's great to have people yell JIMMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Breath of Fire 2 is not the worst in that list by far, and honestly at times is a great game, but gets shit on by some poor design decisions and a complete lack of character balance. It's still one of my favorite 16 bit rpgs. On the list it's the most difficult of the games, but honestly once you know what you're doing the game is a breeze, and it has a lot of shortcuts that negates the bullshit amount of grinding you have to do with the other games in this list.

Ogre Battle is overrated garbage. It always has been, and it always will be.

Secret of Evermore is interesting, but ends up being such a slow tedious grind half the time, it's almost not worth your time. I have a lot of fond memories of this game, but again it's definitely flawed on a lot of levels, and I'd be hard pressed to call it a good game.

Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 3 are both great choices (and the best two games in that list), but let's be honest you've probably played through them both a million times. The advantage of Chrono Trigger is you can beat it in 2 days of play, but if you're looking for something that's a slightly longer time investment it's a poor choice. Final Fantasy 3 is probably the best 16 bit rpg ever made, but it's also one you (like me) have probably played through a billion times.

Chrono Trigger is the only game he listed that I finished. But that was back in the day when I mostly rented games and game rentals only lasted two days.
