OH FUCK YES THAT WAS AWESOME.

It's been a long time coming.

It was at least six months ago when my friend mentioned the existence of a mythic bacon and cheese-filled KFC sandwich that used chicken as the buns, but that was only available in a couple of places. I loved the Double Down from the moment I knew it, but thought we'd be together.

And then, just over two weeks ago, KFC announced that the Double Down was going national on Monday the 12th. Due to her work schedule, I wouldn't be able to go with Lexy until Friday the 16th, and I had to do it WITH her, so that I'd have a witness, someone to share the experience with.

Today... was finally the day. From waking up to the time of my evening date with the Double Down I had subsisted on a bowl of cereal, some spinach, blueberries, and an english muffin, to prepare my body for what was coming and to whet my appetite for the explosion of protein.

We walked in and I boldly demanded that fucker - the combo, with mashed potatoes and gravy and a soda - while she ordered some lesser thing (no interest in the Double Down).

After a longer-than-normal wait, our order was called. It was time. I opened the Big Mac-like container to find that gorgeous mound nestled inside, wrapped in a simple paper wrapper.

The first thing I noticed was the cheese, white and glistening and oozing out of the sides of the sandwich, then a pinkish drizzle of the Colonel's sauce, teasingly peeking up at me from underneath.

And then I grabbed hold. My first impression was to marvel at its heft and size. Several accounts that I'd come across so far had mentioned the Double Down being "smaller than expected," but I couldn't imagine anyone deeming this beauty "small." My fears were instantly assuaged.

My first decision was to ditch the wrapper. You don't make love to a woman with her clothes on. I wanted to behold this thing in its full glory. I undressed the sandwich and pulled it free, a hunk of the top breast hanging jauntily to the side. Oh man. It was like a fucking baby. A baby about to go into my mouth.

I brought it to my lips and the rest is history.

The chicken? Thoroughly impressed. The "bun" chicken pieces were not merely carefully shaped chicken matter of the kind that you get in the glorified giant nuggets that generally pass for chicken sandwiches - but *actual cuts of real chicken*. These were authentic, juicy breast fillets!

The cheese? As trashy and artificial as I had dreamed.

The bacon? The perfect accent: crispy, salty and supportive to the overall miasma of flavor.

The Colonel's sauce? A delightful, zesty tang, something like a spicy Thousand Island dressing. Asshole naysayers have up to now enjoyed making the sly and hilarious allusion to "the Colonel's sauce" being his semen. HUHUHUH. Fucking faggots. If this is his jizz, I'll suck the Colonel off all night long!

The Double Down exceeded all of my expectations and hopes, and while I consciously tried to keep them low to avoid disappointment, there was no need. I felt joyous after I finished the last bite and leapt from the KFC, already excited about my next date with the Double Down, and there will be another.
