These lists are usually nonsense created by someone that isn't really familiar with PC gaming, and just likes to rewrite history. Also they grossly inflate the importance and popularity of FPSes.
The first five mentioned shouldn't be on there. Their reasoning is specious.
Anyway, Doom certainly shouldn't be on there. Just because they prefer it to Wolfenstein 3D doesn't mean it's more of a breakthrough game. Not to mention Ultima Underworld. |

I like how they mention survival horror, as if it that is some sort of huge PC gaming genre.

Every PC game created before Doom should be eliminated from human memory. |

What a terrible list. It skips very important games like Mule, Dune 2, Zork, Myst, and Rogue. Starcraft? Quake AND Doom? Half-Life is even pushing it. |

The fact I've only played two of the titles on that list means the PC game points well is already pumped dry. |

I was honestly surprised that they included Wizardry and King's Quest in that list. I watched that half-expecting every game to be from the mid-90s and up! |

PC games have been pretty derivative since the early 90s. You pretty much just get minor incremental improvements, and graphics upgrades. |

FPS is very important for PC gaming.
Anyways Half Life should be on there because for its time it was a breakthrough. And the PC has sported a chunk of horror games (i guess most of them you want to survive) I dont know if it was enough to make it a staple I would say Playstation with Resident Evil and Silent Hill is more notable for survival horror. I know PC has System Shock 2 and the Alien vs. Predator series both FPS but SS2 had RPG elements. |
