I wonder if this is a passing fad, or if it's now a permanent fixture? I've had enough of seeing what the peanut gallery has to say about everything.
I think comments have a place in peoples' shitty Facebooks and things like that, but why do news articles need them now? No one cares how outraged you are that a baby got decapitated.
"No one is forcing you to read them." That's the theory, but I can't help myself in seeing what retarded bullshit people will come up with this time, and it ends up being a big waste of time. What's more, if I fall into the trap myself and leave a comment, now I have to check back for a while to see if anyone responded to me! |

One of the only useful things about comments is they help protect me from YouTube screamer videos. If I'm given a suspicious video link, I always quickly scan the first page of comments for "scarred the shit out of me1111" type remarks. If I see a, "Comments have been disabled for this video" that's a huge red flag, and I proceed with extreme caution. |

I think comments are great and should accompany everything! It's awesome reading about shitheads pretending to be scientists or acting outraged over whatever. |

Most of these things are guest books, since they're generally not threaded. Also Facebook, for that matter.
It's actually very sad that the technology has regressed. |

Spamdini's guestbook was the worst. It was full of people whining about him not translating Kenshin anymore, and calling Fist of the North Star shit.
I say there's no way comments will go out of style. People like the attention too much of having their stuff talked about. Though it's sad when I see a site that is really good, and all the entries have "Comments (0)" beside them. Who knows how many young blog stars have quit out of despair because of this? |

Comments sections are so pathetically easy to troll that it's not even worth it. |

I'm like Roy, sometimes I can't help reading comment sections no matter how bad they are. It is genuinely interesting when there are good comments or conversations happening and it would suck to lose that, but it's so rare that anything especially intelligent or clever goes on.
I was actually pretty relieved when the comment section of one site I read stopped working for me because it eliminated the temptation to read that shit, but then it started working again Friday. |

Fist of the North Star is shit and Spamdini stopped translating Kenshin right at the final and most interesting arc. He deserved every bit of criticism that came his way! |

Just imagine if you never got to see the visceral intensity and outrageously satisfying humour of the Buu saga. Yeah, you'd be a trifling bit upset as well! |

I like comment sections that allow a rating system for each comment posted. It's hilarious to see a person receive 20 plus 'thumbs up' for calling the author or another commenter a know-it-all faggot. |
