Everything the Internet is telling me is that Egyptians speak Arabic (some sites specify Egyptian Arabic), so I'm stuck.

Also, the only mentioning of your nationality I recall is UAE, and the official language there is apparently Arabic.

Can't you just tell me what languages you speak?

I'm astonishingly ignorant and self-absorbed.

But to be perfectly fair, terms like MIDDLE EAST are more or less relative, and (I still might be wrong about this), I'm pretty sure Lebanon is really close to Greece or something.

I don't know. THERE ARE A BUNCH OF LEBANESE RESTAURANTS AROUND WHERE I LIVE, AND THE FOOD DOESN'T SEEM EXOTIC ENOUGH TO REALLY BE MIDDLE EASTERN.

This is a really dumb thing to accuse me of being dumb over considering there is no such thing as an objectively defined Middle East.

I am really ignorant, and I really do feel horrible about not knowing where MADali is from (that ten years number he gave was staggering).

But really, we've never communicated much. As far back as I can remember, he has said he didn't like me, given no reason for it, and that's it. It's kind of hard to ask a guy like that his life history.

I remember him saying he lived in the UAE. I never knew if he was born there or if he moved there or whatever. I know nothing about the UAE except that most of the people that live there are wealthy, it's culturally pretty Western, and I knew one guy from there who hated me.

I looked up on Wikipedia what the official language was because I was curious as to what other websites MADali uses. He said he doesn't speak Arabic, the official language of UAE. I asked him what languages he spoke. He refuses to answer this question. He calls me ignorant, but refuses to give me the answers I need to stop being ignorant. As far back as I can remember, this has been the case with everybody who calls me ignorant. I suppose I will always be ignorant then.

Anyway, what is really, really DUMB is coming down on some people for not knowing much about the world and coming down on other people for being white and interested in Eastern culture. Is there some perfect median we're all supposed to know?
