This is getting destroyed by critics. Why? I liked it! It's obviously missing the Arnold as a lead element, but I feel like this is a satisfying conclusion. I feel like for what they had to work with and where they were in the series it was quite an achievement. It's better than goddamned Rise of the Machines. Christian Bale is so robotically perfect as an actor he should've been the Terminator though. I was blown away that they cast the Chekov kid as Kyle Reese but he did fine.

I shit my pants when CG Arnold came out.

Things that were gay:

Not fighting at night. Why would they do that? Every other movie has shown them fighting at night.

Modern-day weaponry. I know it's only 2018 in the movie but I seriously wanted to see them shooting the pink lasers and shit. I find it hard to believe that they were able to kill Terminators with M-16s at all.

I remember Chris saying something about the increasing wussification of violence in the Terminator movies and it's true. Apparently the only difference between the PG-13 and the R-cut is Marcus stabbing someone with a screwdriver and Moon Bloodgood's tits. What?

Speaking of which, why was she even in this movie? I feel like her role was pretty forced, like they needed a badass chick or something.

Bad:

The repeated use of "now this happens". How did character X do Y? We don't know because it's considered acceptable to show character X suddenly on the Moon or whatever, which wasn't the case in previous sequels.

The two or maybe three black characters all being jive talking headstrong idiots
Gay giant robots look like the director called Kay Bee and said "help me help you sell toys."
Those unnecessary time wasting scenes where Connor tests the machine killing device. Don't make me watch your silly plot contrivance, just use it!
Where's the time machine? Where's the early prototype of the time machine? Where's the research infrastructure that could possibly hope to birth a time machine?
Why does he even care about Kyle Reese? Is he so worried about other timelines that don't exist yet? It's too bad Reese didn't mention who invented the time machine so John could kill that guy for all the good he's ever done.
Christian Bale actually sucked!!! That voice was genius in Batman, like the letter in that Poe story that the guy leaves out in the open where no one will think to look, but doing it again for a different character retroactively makes it worse.
The words "I'll be back" and "Come with me if you want to live" are starting to make my ears bleed. They did forget "no fate but what we make" if they were trying to be completists, though.

Good:

CG Schwarzenegger was classy and cool and didn't overreach the technology.
That bass note that played whenever the machines did anything scary
PG13 pandering didn't bug me like I thought it would
John fighting the T800 was a pretty good scene.
The fact that they say T800 instead of T101
Lin and Bat

Basically it was an embarrassment as a Terminator sequel but kind of OK as a movie about people fighting robots.
