Perhaps she does! I, however, don't. You guys were lucky, missing out on all the constant merchandising and BULLSHIT like the TV show, the concerts, the music videos, the dolls and just about whatever else. There was even going to be a manga!

RBD was more or less what 4channers call a "forced meme". In short, the whole thing got shoved down everyone's throats this side of the river. I can't help but be annoyed by them!

Café Tacuba is good! I am not an avid follower of their music, but they are an interesting band. I especially like the songs where they play off Mexican popular culture, like Ingrata, Chilanga Banda and Rarotonga. María is very good too.

I also admit that I have very limited understanding about Mexico in general. I assumed you guys were basically the Road Warrior. It's neat you have internet and culture!

Why, thank you! I could make a joke about Mexicans' portrayal of Americans, but it would be too complex and would easily come off as tacky. But really. It's nothing to worry about, Vinny. Not too long ago I met someone online who thought Tijuana was an island!

Sometimes I hope it was. Tijuana is fucking shitty.

Anyhow, on the topic of culture, I'm afraid not too many people here see the value in it as you do. Over here, about 2 out of 10 people get to read a whole book in their lives. Maybe it's a ridiculous approximation, but it makes my point clear; people here mostly listen to reggaeton, follow soccer religiously and work on their cars. It's pretty sad, really. Culture here is mostly considered a thing for old people or bigwigs.
