Madonna probably deserves to be exaulted more than she is.
Remember the "Like a Prayer" video? She goes into a church, finds a Jesus statue and kisses its feet. At which point the statue comes to life and they have sex inside the church.
BRILLIANTLY, a black guy was cast to play the Jesus statue she has sex with, so when Christians inevitably complained about how offensive they found this video, she could say, "You're not mad because I fucked Jesus. Your mad because I made Jesus black."
That shit is genius. There is a reason why she gets more respect than Britney Spears, and it's not just because she's older and her fans all have jobs at VH1 now.
Believing that celebrated pop musicians are just products of historical inevitability and people's desire to find a pop musician to exault is a complete fallacy. Doing it right takes style, creativity, and courage that basically everyone else lacks. |

She's not really an especially acclaimed pop musician. I mean, right now and for the past ten years she has been, I guess. But almost everybody agrees that the last ten years of pop music have been unbearably dull for the most part.
Yeah, you're right to the extent that there always has to be SOME huge pop star, so sometimes that person isn't so much deserving of the success.
But in the grand scheme of things, there are singers who really earn it and history treats them differently. |

Shakespeare, Italian art, Plato, and any movie list that has black and white movies (no, Casablance wasnt the best black and white movie of all time, it was the ONLY good black and white movie of all time)
are the most overrated things
Actually not as many things are as overrated as I thought; either they set great precedent or are just not that well understood.
Oh SE asia is overrated |

| Isaac Newton is not at all overrated. If anything he's vastly underrated, since he's the single most important person in human history. He is single-handedly more influential than entire continents. |

Yeah right.
Nobody has or ever will come anywhere close to Jesus in terms of "effect on history."
Like it or not! |

Even if they did exist, they, individually, did not contribute as much to history as Newton. Christianity is mostly the work of Paul, for example.
Also, Moses and Abraham are similarly fictional. |

| If I died tomorrow and you started a Chris Psaros religion, it would still be more accurate to call me the influential one, since my existence was the key causal factor for your subsequent actions. |

| Punkasss, that statue in the Like A Prayer video is actually supposed to be some Dominican saint, but everyone interpreted it as being black Jesus. |

| Looks like PunkAsss' explanation won't work for Madonna, who of course was the director of that video, not to mention the sole writer of the song. |

I discovered that I would have to add "sole." |
