Knurph and I were there from day one, and were I think literally the only two people who liked Jon for many months.

I think people started jumping on our bandwagon once he started making movies.

Yes, Jon can be appreciated on a higher level, but also plays to the Groundlings: who (for the most part) are capeable of nothing, but inexplicable dumbe shewes, & noise.
