I have to say that even though I don't like most of his music, I have to admire the way that T-Pain employs the auto-tuner, especially in comparison to the other artists who have been using it since he popularized it. When Lil' Wayne and Kanye use an auto-tuner, even though the right notes are being automatically hit it's clear that they can't sing at all. Kanye just sings the piano melody in every single one of his new songs, and Lil' Wayne is clearly just rapping as he normally does into it.

T-Pain on the other hand has employed the auto-tuner in order to create an identity for himself as a robot-voiced weirdo, and when he layers his voice into crazy five-part harmonies it's clear that he knows what he's doing. Kanye's stuff sounds thrown together, Lil' Wayne's stuff sounds completely retarded, but T-Pain's sounds thoughtful and professional.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Akon. Akon is a bastard and he owns a diamond mine. He's built his entire career on pretending that he went to prison. He made the song "Smack That", which is basically an abomination, and I don't think he warrants any further discussion.

I like Kanye's 808 album. Love Lockdown and Amazing are great songs. The thing I don't get with Kanye is why he uses the auto tuner to talk/rap. Makes it sound like he's gargling.
