Guns N Roses were always a pretty shitty band.

Seriously, predictable power-pop with a prissy, screeching front man who's ALMOST self-concious enough about being completely unlikeable to come off as punk.

And Slash was always a lame Joe Perry ripoff, from his riffs to the way he looks.

I don't see how anybody can like Welcome to the Jungle or November Rain on any serious level. This is music you laugh at.

And how is Chinese Democracy not a lame title? I guess it's "provocative" in a FOX News sort of way (It's no SMELL THE GLOVE). It's not like anybody in this country covers their mouth and goes "No He DIDN'T" when they hear that. You can't even stretch your imagination to believe that this represents a return to confrontational rock music.

This guy's review is almost bordering on funny. He plays the beginning of each song, and you can clearly hear that every song either starts with a one-note guitar riff with a variation on the same rhythm or sounds like a C-rate ripoff of some trend that was popular ten years ago.

And after the seventeen-year wait, the album doesn't even have the decency to start with a bang. Instead you get two minutes of quiet noise and numerous teaser starts as if people who actually like this band haven't waited enough already. I guess this is entertaining if you enjoy Axl's primadonna antics. Then when the song finally starts, it sounds like something you'd find on Danzig's cutting-room floor. Everything besides the occasional impressive lead guitar flourish is a waste of time, and even those sound like so much barbecue sauce on bland, bland meat.

Of course, Magic Juan's praise of the album is probably insanely funny irony, and I'm preaching to the choir.

Sadly, all the hype will make it go platinum, which will serve as another crushing blow to anybody actually making good music who can' t get noticed.

You'd think we'd be past this bullshit in the Internet age!

I can hardly listen to anything with lyrics nowadays. It's all about poor kids singing about small things or rich kids singing about selfish things.

I mean, do we really need rock songs referencing how the Xbox, Xbox, is diluting our cultural youth?

And Ron is spot on, Guns and Roses is a fucking joke you fucking twits.

It's kind of annoying how hyper critical Punkasss is about music. I mean, it's a completely subjective medium! I like Axl Rose's voice and I find his ability to be a frontman entertaining, his personal bullshit aside.

Comparing Joe Perry to Slash is stupid. Joe Perry is actually a pretty shittarded guitarist, especially if you listen to his solo albums were he was forced to get studio musicians to write all the songs. The solos in Sweet Child O' Mine and Paradise City are actually so mindbogglingly good it's insane. Especially since you categorize Slash as this drug-addled retard, when his guitar range is everything from playing delicate parts of a song to the point when it gets heavy. I really enjoy his versatility, especially in the context of just individual songs. Yeah, Chinese Democracy is missing this, but I can appreciate a lot of the songs for what they are, not trying to interpret any of the political messages or whatever meaningfully.

Punkasss, don't you have anything else to worry about then slagging Guns N Roses?

No, not really.

Besides, what's with their name? That's not a rock band, it's a daytime drama.

AGH MEAN COME ON!!!!!

The raunchy blues-based playing. The too-cool-to-ever-talk demeanor. The MYSTERIOUS face-covering long, black hair. Slash IS Joe Perry. And Joe Perry did it first.

Guns N Roses is THE CHEESE. Get caught in my city w/ that shit, find your car full a holes.

Man, there is probably zero other people on the planet who would say Slash is a rip-off of Joe Perry.

Remember when Axl made that song about how he hated faggots and immigrants? Man, that was so rebellious, in the sense that your grandfather would probably agree with it.

Unfortunately, Axl Rose wasn't smart enough to actually link the words faggot and nigger with their respective sexuality and race and was actually just meaning all douchebags who oppose him.

Maybe he was just trying to prove that his awfulness could make an entire nation self-identify as a faggot or a nigger.

I've only listened to Appetite for Destruction but I think it's pretty good musically even if it's also retarded. I mean, a lot of it is EVEN BETTER for how retarded it is. The ballad at the end of Rocket Queen is so funny! How can you get mad about it!

I still believe Punkasss that Chinese Democracy is shit though, even if it's clear he has an ax to grind.

I have never met anyone who has taken Guns N' Roses' music that seriously. What are you going to do? Start analyzing all the scales, time signatures and influences of their music? They're more the kind of band that's meant to be listened to every once in a while for the sake of enjoyment, unlike more complex musical ventures like King Crimson or Tool.

It's kind of like if somebody started a thread about how funny the Carson Daily show is. Somebody would have to explode eventually.

Now multiply that by a hypothetical circumstance where Carson Daily, through wack, played-out media manipulation, manages to get a sizeable portion of the talk-show-watching community to fiercely anticipate his first show in twenty years. And you might understand where I'm coming from.

The way Chinese Democracy was released is very offensive but that isn't a substantial argument as to why Guns n Roses is bad music.
