I cashed out every last one of my stocks a week ago. The US in 1873 was had a railroad default. The US then deemed that railroads were too big to fail, and subsidized them

One reason I say its a disanalogy is that the US in the 1870s was essentially still very roughly Adam Smith and mercantile model of capitalism. A sort of Hamilitonian model, if you will.
