FTU really needs one big thread for interesting Wikipedia articles.
Is it OK if we use this one, Mike? |

This guy told me that my last name is German for "art."
I proceeded to give what must have been the worst presentation on the play "Anowa" he has ever seen. |

Wow, that's really funny. I hadn't anticipated a question like that. |

I'd really like to use this thread to have a discussion on how bitter gigatron's lame-ass comment is reason enough why Americans should start reading African literature.
Has anyone ever read Things Fall Apart?
Okonkwo is a very succesful man who is driven by his fear of insignificance and "womanliness," which he associates with having to depend on others. When the white collonialists take over his clan, he sees how big the universe is and hangs himself. Nobody in the clan will move his body because suicide is dishonorable, and they would be disgracing themselves by touching him.
The colonialists have to remove his body from the tree. They eventually decide that if they have to do the second half of the job, they might as well do the first half.
The rest is history. |

Actually, I should not have responded to that comment because I'm not really sure what it means outside of the FUNimation DragonballZ reference.
Get the HFIL outta here! |
