There was an artist that did something like that, except she did it on a massive scale. She would run these giant sheets of paper with holes cut in them and it would use the light filtered through the holes to make sound. The sound would reverberate through huge pipes and the entire thing was this weird, shifting Silent Hill esque music maker.

I watched the whole video.
