I hate buying second-hand cars, because it is such a hassle for services and shit. At least, with a new car, you have the peace of mind of it working for at least two years without any breakdowns

Option A: An extremely small number of people are driving hydrogen cars, and the hydrogen is mined or sieved out of the ocean or something. It is a wasteful indulgence to give the rich a way to hate the poor more (their buses give off toxic CO2!).

Option B: The hydrogen is liberated from water, as it must be to satisfy a large number of people. The liberation is done at factories that either have their own coal/gas power plants, or draw electrical power from an existing coal/gas power plant. Then an army of gasoline powered trucks distribute the extremely dangerous fuel so it can be sold to the same rich people in option A, only more of them. The process as a whole is worse than having a coal furnace in your car, but look, the car itself has no waste products!

Basically people think that there's molecular hydrogen just hanging out waiting to be scooped up and funneled into their dumb ass status symbol cars, as opposed to what it is, which is a decently effective storage mechanism for electrical energy (I guess it's at least better than having a car powered by disposable batteries).
