I don't like how half the stories on news sites now are video-based.
I don't like this new video trend in general on websites, but yeah, especially news sites.
Video is a pain in the ass to click on, watch, and listen to, and wondering if it's going to stay properly buffered all the way through does nothing but sit at the back of the mind and cause latent, smoldering anxiety. If the internet connection is slow, forget it, it's not worth it at all to even try.
You can't "skim" video. With text, you can skim and/or speed read text. I want the information, cocks, and I want it at MY speed, not yours.
I DON'T WANT TO FUCKING WATCH ADS EITHER, AND LOTS OF THAT SHIT HAS ADS *AT THE BEGINNING*. FUCK YOU.
This all wouldn't bother me so much if any sort of video-based news story had a print equivalent that I could just click on and read. But when I'm FORCED to watch a video, it pissed me off.
I really strongly dislike this about the Onion now. It would be fine if they had one or two video/audio stories now and then, but now it's like 20% of their content. I don't want to fucking deal with it. I just want to READ the Onion. And now I'm anxious about the great shit I might have missed. I realize that they're trying to parody news, but they're putting too much into this.
And finally, I'm fucking tired of shootings happening and there always being some shithead who has to say, "it sounded like somebody was lighting off fireworks!!!!" like it's some kind of surprising, idiosyncratic aspect of the situation.
Yeah, no shit it sounded like fireworks, fuckhead. That's what guns sound like. Don't people understand yet that actual guns don't and never did sound like the stock sound effects that TV and movies have been using for the past 40 years?

Right there, the last item in "story highlights." Like it's worth highlighting, or quoting at all, when THE SAME GODDAMN THING IS SAID IN EVERY SINGLE SHOOTING.
Hey idiots, next time you hear "fireworks being lit off" you probably wouldn't be wildly off base to just ASSUME that it's a shooting, or at the very least not to start in with that same old line to the reporter, as if it's at all necessary to even mention.
I'm so tired of this planet. |

You posted one issue and then transitioned into your second one with "finally", but I agree with your first issue. |

I agree about the news articles being in videos thing, because it really is a pain in the ass to watch most videos. THAT BEING SAID, The Onion hasn't sacrificed any written content for their new video feature, so uh, so long gay bowser. |

One of my pet peeves is how most of my friends with the Facebook Book application post a ton of books that they own but have never read. Facebook is such a goddamn retarded arms race of ivory tower intellectuals! |

It's mostly that I feel bad about not having watched 90% of them.
I just can't deal with the stress of video though!
Especially since so much of my web browsing is done at work, where it's either impossible or prohibitively risky to watch/listen to video, since my web browsing there largely relies on stealing 20 seconds here, 10 minutes there, based on deft and quick tab manipulation when my boss turns his head or walks in and out of the room. |

Yeah, video is pretty crappy. I get into plenty of situations where the video won't finish loading, so I have to refresh the page and reload it all from scratch. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |
