I played Deus Ex a little way back when (never played System Shock, though) and it was kind of cool but it (and, consequently, every other video game ever) doesn't hold a candle to BioShock('s demo).

I like FPS games that are you just shooting people, without any cool gimmick, which is why I like games like Call of Duty 2 more than stuff like Halo or F.E.A.R. or Stalker.

The thing with BioShock is that, during the first ten minutes or so, before any combat occurred, I was so incredibly immersed that I was really begging for combat never to start. The game's story is so fucking captivating and masterfully crafted that I don't want it cheapened by the same grudging frustration of other video games - of dying and reloading and dying and reloading.

In that way I'm starting to see Roger Ebert's point on why video games inherently can never be considered high art. He has always argued that putting the story's progress in the hands of the player kept it from sustaining an emotional investment (Number four).

The other huge negative I have with the game is that, in all of history, no great piece of fiction has ever been produced in first person - wherein the first person has no identity. As incredibly immersing and enthralling that BioShock is, I still feel a huge gap in the story where a main character should be.

Theldorrin, me and 8bit did that during summer school before! He had PRINTED pages of DBZU and MPP, though I had no idea what DBZU was, and we created a chess game with DBZ characters as the pieces

FPSs are so fucking bad right now. But to hate them on general principle is fucking stupid because there's nothing better than a good FPS. But I know the concept of mouse and keyboard confuses console players.

The only video game I play (besides Minesweeper) is Unreal Tournament 2004. I think it's pretty cool! UT3 looks pretty insane.
