Fledermaus op. 56 would be a good airship theme.

The problem with what you're suggesting is that an important THINGY about video game music is that it has to loop easily.

Blue Danube doesn't fit the bill!

It's a very dynamic piece of music.

I'd actually be willing to concede that point since ideally an overworld theme has to loop better than most other in game music.

MHH's suggestion is decent, but it's a little too slow for an overworld theme I think. Maybe the song for travelling by boat.

Beethoven's Rage over a lost penny would also be a good airship theme.

Wasn't Blue Danube used for the alternate universe level in Starfox?

Or maybe Voices of Spring, but it was a Strauss waltz, I recall.

Anitra's Dance for city music. One of the later cities.

Kary's theme (or Marilith whichever you prefer) should be In the Hall of the Mountain King.

The final dungeon song should be Siegfried's Death and Funeral March

What about the Arabian Dance from Peer Gynt for overland music?

I suppose part of it would have to be trimmed.

I think that could work as overland music or city music (particularly the dwarf city).

Ride of the Valkyries could be Tiamat's theme.

Just pretend it's FF6 and we can translate the music into FF1.

I'm basically covering all the specific themes. Most of the other stuff is dungeon themes, battle song, sad song, victory song. Generic crap that anyone can do.

I still need a Kraken and Chaos theme.

The neat thing about doing this conceptually is that we can expand on the soundtrack.

Well ideally each town would have a theme so we should probably listen to the ones we have a set them to a specific town. We also need a Matoya theme, Castle dungeon theme, cave dungeon theme, presumably each fiend's dungeon would have a special theme.

Moonlight Sonata movement 1 would be great for the Earth crystal town Melmond that's being destroyed by the undead.
