Post     MAFIA: The Dawn of Fear

Another day has risen in the quiet, wholesome, rocking town of Pizza Paradise. The recent tragedies that had occurred in the neighboring town of Pizza Palace have still left Paradise's citizens unnerved and anxious. Even as the murders become less frequent, those with their ear to the ground are becoming more and more aware of the fact that the terrorists have not been brought to justice. What's more, the especially wary have heard the rumblings that a greater, far more hellish evil lurks at the route of Pizza Palace's terrorist consortium. While the women and children of Pizza Paradise still keep home and go to school, their fathers and husbands, the men of the town, have all gathered in City Hall tonight to finally discuss the grave worry hanging over their heads.

Mayor Matt Hall, son of the great City Hall, the first mayor of Pizza Paradise and founder of City Hall itself, has finally called the mob to order. He looks out over the crowd. Deep in his heart, he knows what he fears the most. It is not that the men of his fair town will not jump to action against an imminent threat - he knows that the bloodlines of Pizza Paradise run too thick for such cowardice. And it is not of the ever-worsening possibility of their wives and children being slaughtered by fiendish terrorists, though these nightmarish visions do keep him awake at night. No, what Matt Hall fears most, is that, as he looks out at the throng of people in his father's hall, all eager to finally rise up as vigilantes and banish the evil from Pizza Paradise once and for all, he knows that looking back at him, hidden amongst the crowd, may very well be the eyes of the very terrorists he has sworn to fight against.

Knowing this, however, he also knows that he has no choice. He swallows, casts one more glance across the "townspeople" and asks "Who intends to join me in the defense of Pizza Paradise?"

The game takes place in a fictional town, with two teams, a larger team of townspeople and then a small team of Mafia. The goal of the two teams is to wipe each other out; however, the caveat is that everyone is assumed to be a townsperson, and the Mafia are secretive and work behind the scenes to prevent the townspeople from knowing who they are. The game has a series of two phases until whichever team is victorious. The two phases are night, and day. During the day phases, everyone involved will vote to lynch a townsperson who they think might be mafia, so it is up to the players to try and guess and figure out who is mafia by posting, and voting for certain people, etc.

Days last for exactly forty-eight hours. After that time, the person with the most votes against him will be lynched and his identity revealed. If a unanimous decision is reached before the forty-eight hours have expired, the accused will be lynched immediately. If he is a townsperson, the sun immediately sets and night begins. If he is a Mafia, the townspeople can continue to confer for the remainder of the forty-eight hours, and when time expires, anyone with a majority vote against him will be lynched. There is no limit to the amount of lynching the townspeople can do within the forty-eight hours, provided that they successfully lynch Mafia each time.

Once day is over, night begins. At this point, the Mafia are able to deliberate and tell me which one of the townspeople they want to kill. The next day begins when the mafia have told me through private messaging who they want dead.

Night has a time limit of twelve hours. If the Mafia reach a unanimous decision in that time, the victim is killed and Day begins. If there is no unanimous decision, a victim with a majority vote will die. If there is no majority vote, no one will die. Any Mafia absent for two Nights will be killed.

Rules:

Besides the actual mafia, who are allowed to strategize outside of the forum, you shouldn't be talking about mafia outside of the Mafia thread, SUCH AS WITH AIM or the like.

When you vote for a player because you think he's Mafia, bold your choice like this so that I know. Same with if you unvote.

There are all sorts of way to bend and twist the rules and to confuse people that I will allow, but the main word of advice that I can give you is that if you are a townsperson, to only take any private messages or anything that comes from me. Everyone else should be "suspect."

Just remember that everyone is assumed to be a townsperson. You are not allowed to divulge your role.

Once you are dead you cannot post in the Mafia thread anymore, but you get one last "zombie post" to call people faggots or whatever. I will reveal the role of a player once he or she dies.

The mafia can choose not to lynch someone at night, but they must tell me.

VICTORY CONDITIONS. Townspeople win when all the mafia are dead, but the mafia wins when they are equal to the townspeople.

There is one special role, that will be the role of the Psychic (since more people are playing). Every night, the Psychic can send me a name and I'll tell the Psychic if they are Mafia or townsperson. The Psychic revealing his role is up to himself, though this is a warning that if the Psychic reveals his role, the Mafia will probably kill him right away.

I will send roles through the board's private messaging. The mafia can either contact me on AIM or through the board. I will assign roles tonight, so now you guys have a chance to ask any questions. My last word of advice is that everyone involved in the game should participate as best as they can, the easiest way for this to suck is if a few people say nothing the entire game.

To sign-up, post to indicate that you are playing. Sign-ups will close tomorrow at 10:00 PM EST.

Signed:

1. Stefan John Philip Perrier (Magic Juan), a twenty year old orphaned breadmaker. He is a second generation citizen of Pizza Paradise, his parents having emigrated to the town from their native French Canada when his mother was pregnant with him. He has a younger sister, sixteen, who is hot. Two years ago, his parents were killed in a fire at their breadshop, forcing then honors student Stefan to abandon dreams of attending Pizza Paradise University (an Ivy League school) in order to take up breadmaking to support himself and his young sister. As Mayor Matt Hall looks Stefan over, he sees both a young man, smart and capable of great patriotic duty to Pizza Paradise, but also a deep, dark fire that resents the town for taking both his parents and his academic future away from him. Could this hatred possibly fester into the madness of terrorism...?

2. Derek "Potbellied" Payne, twenty-four, raises his tree trunk of an arm to indicate his volunteering. The mountain of a man, weighing not a dime less than four hundred pounds, and never seen without one of Pizza Paradise's delicacy pizzas in his grasp, has a proportionally large heart and is well-liked within the community. His elder brother Michael is one of Pizza Paradise's civic leaders, a respected townsmen with a possible future in politics. They are both fortunate sons, and genuine friends of Mayor Matt Hall. Yet, Hall thinks to himself, Derek's obvious physical weaknesses leave much unsaid... could he possibly be turned to evil through the temptation of exotic, foreign pizzas or other treats? And what of his characteristic hatred of everything? Could everything include... the people of Pizza Paradise...?

3. Walter Reginald Seika is one of the more unassuming members of Pizza Paradise. At twenty-one years of age, his presence in City Hall, if noticed by the others, is paid no mind. A senior at the University, his academic accomplishments are known throughout the town, and Mayor Matt Hall fully expects him to be this year's valedictorian... if nothing gets in the way. Seika, for all his mental acuity, is a touch on the nerdy side, and was once reduced to tears in the middle of town square when it was revealed that his long distance girlfriend was nothing more than a page he tore off of an advertisement in Vanity Fair. Though seemingly harmless, Matt Hall is thusly aware of Seika's ability to deceive for his own personal gain, and his quiet demeanor does not truly lend itself to considering him trustworthy. Doubt begins to flood Hall's mind...

4. "Mad" Hector Dorrin (Theldorrin) sees Mayor Matt Hall's brow furrowed and sweating and lightly taps him on the shoulder and nods to him in confidence. As a trusted adviser to both generations of Hall men, the twenty-nine year old stoic is a vision of calmness amidst the uproarious township. Considered town genius by many, Dorrin graduated Pizza Paradise University at the top of his class by the age of fifteen. He would have gone on to an illustrious teaching career and deanship had City Hall not hand-chosen him to serve as his right hand man. None have ever seen Dorrin smile, but his obstinate seriousness only lends credence to his intellect. Still, his sinister air is no secret to the town, nor his anti-social behavior, spending each and every night that he is not needed by the Mayor in his basement, programming on his prize computer and developing more and more elaborate primitive designs of artificial intelligence. Matt Hall looks over to his colleague and friend and nods in return, but cannot stifle the thought in the back of his mind that Dorrin could so easily turn out to be... one of them...

5. Mayor Matt Hall (ALDP) is spurred on by Dorrin's touch and reinstates his own involvement to the cause. At only eighteen years of age, Hall assumed his father's mayorship when the great City Hall fell ill and passed away to the shock and horror of all Pizza Paradise one year ago. Matt's father was a truly beloved leader and his death left the town asunder, way more than when Stefan's shitty parents died the previous year. Thus far, young Matt has proven himself a capable and noble Mayor, particularly with Hector Dorrin at his side, and he knows that this oncoming threat to his great city is truly his chance to prove himself as twice the leader his father was. Yet, he cannot help but notice some disturbance in the room... some looks from Pizza Paradise's old guard... those who do not fully trust him... those who realize that the greatest way to take down Pizza Paradise... would be from within.

6. Andre Robinson (Triple Life), a twenty-two year old half-black man raises his hand. The lone descendant of Pizza Paradise's only slave family (freed from their work on the Pizza Farm in 1953), they have grown within the community and Andre himself has become a functioning member. A nervous, awkward, but well-intentioned young man, Andre passes his days working odd jobs for various townspeople, a short cry from his ancestor's way of life. Two years ago, his heart was broken publicly when his proposal to Morgan was rejected, and he has never seemed quite the same since. Most recently, and troublingly, a Doppelgänger of his was lynched in Pizza Palace and the only apprehended member of its vile terrorist consortium. Many claim that this could be a long lost member of the Robinson family, an estranged offspring of a still-enslaved black woman and her white master. Matt Hall eyes Andre with a certain hesitance, as one cannot look past his inherent outsider status...

7. Magen Joshua David (Ace Kendo) is a twenty-eight year old Rabbi at Pizza Paradise's lone multi-religious center. Mentored by famed Rabbi Kendostein, Joshua has recently won many followers with his learned and charismatic sermons. While not the most popular man in the community due to his notorious cheapness, whininess and campaign to keep Matt Hall out of office, he has delighted many children with his playful alter-ego of Ace Kendo, religious crimefighter. What started as an added novelty in his sermons soon became a night job for Joshua, as he patrols on the beat as a vigilante watchdog during all his free evenings, often inviting children to join him as he apprehends petty thieves and perps, much to the annoyance of Pizza Paradise's actual police officers. Joshua's involvement in the cause comes as no surprise to Mayor Matt Hall, who is willing to let sleeping dogs lie with Joshua in order to confront a far greater evil, but Hall still must wonder where Joshua's allegiances stand... and what his terrorist price tag might be...

8. Vito the Guido Pizzarino finishes counting a wad of Derek Payne's money and stuffs it into his breast pocket and raises his greasy hand. The twenty-nine year old descendant of the pizza makers who put Pizza Paradise on the map is characteristically silent in his pledge to fight the terrorists. He chews on a toothpick and says nothing, eyeing the others in the room. Mayor Matt Hall watches his slow, slithering movement, his skinny Italian body seemingly contorting just by the hand raise. Vito looks Hall straight in the eye, across his father's building, and smiles, spitting out his toothpick disgracefully on the floor. In years past, Matt's father City Hall and Vito's father Papa Giorgio Pizzarino were great friends, building this town together from the ground up with their combined leadership and pizza expertise. Matt and Vito would even play together as children, though soon Vito grew disinterested with him, dropping out of school and becoming the black sheep of town. Though Papa Giorgio stills owns the town's great pizza shop, the nominal Pizza Paradise of Pizza Paradise, he lately finds himself bedstricken and overweight, leaving Vito as manager while his older siblings are back in Italy to study pizza-making from the greats. Under Vito's watch, though, the skies above Pizza Paradise have darkened, and Mayor Matt Hall fights back a pain in his chest when he realizes how insidiously Vito could lay waste to the town... if he were one of them...

9. Morgan Danglenut lifts her slender arm and most of the room turns in the hopes of catching a glimpse of her side boob (or what little there is). Thus far, the twenty-three year old is the only woman who has been man enough to join the fight against terrorism, which has earned her some amount of respect from the others. A rarity among Pizza Paradise women, she is unmarried and survives independently, jumping from job to job and man to man. Active in town affairs (in several meanings of the word), she took it upon herself (like usual) to come (what else is new) and interact with the throng of men tonight (spare me). Still a vision of loveliness, Mayor Matt Hall himself recalls having an unrequited love for her in his carefree days of youth. To think that their adult lives might lead them down such truly separate paths if she turned out to be... no, he closes his eyes, it is too painful an idea to consider.

10. "Shogun" Brian Lanners (Yogurtman), is Pizza Paradise's twenty-nine year old Chief of Police. Although he graduated with honors from Pizza Paradise University's Law and was immediately offered six-figure salaries from Pizza Paradise's top law firms to become an attorney, he chose instead to climb the ranks of the police force, believing he could be of greater service to the community there. Lanners has headlined newspaper after newspaper in the past eight years of service, rising to the rank of Police Chief faster than any man in Pizza Paradise history. His extensive detective work and crime-solving have been unparalleled, even going so far as to solve crimes that others thought they had already solved but were wrong in his spare time. He stands below Mayor Matt Hall's podium stage, looking about the room at the proud faces of Pizza Paradise's residents, those he sworn to protect, several of whom he has literally saved the life of. Hall looks down at him, the model citizen, and thinks back to some issues that have been raised lately. That he grown frustrated with Joshua's vigilante work, and has more than once stormed into Hall's office and demanded that Joshua resume his place in the church and leave the policing to him. There are even whisperings that, upon his wedding in August, Lanners may retire and even leave the city for good. The wedge between Lanners and Hall seems to grow wider by the day, and in this current crisis, Hall is forced to wonder how much he can truly depend on his model Chief of Police.

11. Justin Clotho the Shadow walks through the doors of City Hall, amidst all the commotion, and quietly sits down on one of the two benches in the back of the room. Twenty, he is unshaven and thin as an anorexic. His dark eyes pierce the room. He is a recent emigrant to Pizza Paradise, having left Pizza Palace as its string of murders had hit their peak. He is functionally a mute, as almost one third of his tongue is missing, making his speech slurred and incoherent. He raises his right hand to join the cause, and Mayor Matt Hall has no choice but to notice that Clotho is missing his little finger on that hand. Hall looks over the utterly mysterious young man, and a shiver runs down his spine, as he cannot honestly even hazard a guess at whether he should consider Clotho an innocent, tormented refugee of a town torn apart by a dark terrorism... or a man hiding some inner evil that could mean the end of Pizza Paradise forever...

12. Roy DeGaunt, at seventeen, is the youngest heir to the DeGaunt legacy. While most of his family spends their time in the Bahamas, Roy has remained behind in Pizza Paradise, dropping out of private school to join the Pizza Paradise Fire Department at a record young age of fourteen. To date, he is the only man in Pizza Paradise history to have singlehandedly extinguished a five alarm fire wielding only a sword. He is an avid weapons collector and has pledged his life to protect this town he loves. Mayor Matt Hall recognizes Roy as the only man in the room younger than him, and appreciates the passion he sees inside of him, but cannot keep from worrying that his extreme youth might make him all the easier to compromise...

13. Michael Payne III grows tired of hearing the sounds of his younger brother chew and stands, taking the pizza box and tossing it in the trash. The twenty-six year old announces that he will also join the force, to protect his fat retard brother. Mayor Matt Hall nods, as the Halls and the Paynes truly compose Pizza Paradise's upper class, and Hall considers the Payne brothers, more than anyone else, his older siblings. There is a deep-routed respect between Matt and Michael, the third in his father's prestigious line, although both admit that the Halls have historically been more philanthropic with their vast fortunes. However, since his rise into mayorship, Matt has seemingly felt a rift between them. He tries to tell himself that it is his imagination, and feels soothed whenever he stops by the gigantic Payne Estate for dinner, but there always lingers a doubt for the young Mayor. He notes the recent reticence of Michael's father, Michael II, and his son seems to following in his footsteps as he descends further and further into a mysterious, misanthropic solitude...

14. Zhou Win Chi (Rice) is a young, heavyset Chinese man of eighteen, known as the first student accepted to Pizza Paradise University through the initial year of their new Go scholarship. A prodigy of the game, Zhou has spent every weekday of his life since beginning junior high school playing three rounds of Go with his father, Zhou Shi-Shin, as soon as he arrive home from school. Zhou Win Chi keeps very few friends and has never had a lover in the public eye, preferring instead to play games of Go against himself by the fountain in town square, overlooking the public as they pass by. His calculating nature could serve the town well, Mayor Matt Hall reasons, but he could never shake his worry that Zhou is hiding a master plan...

15. Muhammad Ali-Jazeera (MADali) is twenty-five and seems steadfast in his refusal to even entertain the notion that he may be a terrorist. Ali-Jazeera came to Pizza Paradise five years ago and found instant fortune in arms dealership due to his Middle Eastern connections. A recent census has found that Ali-Jazeera is personally responsible for distributing over 60% of the legal weapons owned in Pizza Paradise and 100% of the illegal, unregistered weapons. He mans an honest weapons store on the boardwalk of Dead Nigger Gulch, and although the shop is in good business, Ali-Jazeera's wealth is unverifiable, due to his unreportable sources of income. A shady character, his is perennially shirtless in these hot summer days, displaying a ripped, million dollar body. His facial hair is so wispy that it blows in his breath when he speaks. Mayor Matt Hall remembers a photo op he once viewed between Ali-Jazeera and his father, City Hall. He saw them shake hands in a display of unity... of multiculturalism and in earning an honest paycheck... but Matt remembers... he remembers the shady Arab men employed in Ali-Jazeera's shop... he remembers the smell of their sweat... he remembers his first exposure... to terrorism.

16. Elizabeth "Meems" Meemerson sits in the front row, smiling at Mayor Matt Hall. Sweethearts in high school, this eighteen year old who will be attending Pizza Paradise University next year is finally adjusting to day life without Matt, her boyfriend. Today, the two spend every chance they have together, working around Hall's industrious schedule as Mayor, richly in love, Pizza Paradise's premiere couple. As Hall looks around the room and sweats, he is careful to always remind himself to take a breath, look down at her, and remind himself of some good in the world. And though an hour ago he was pleading with her not to come to the town meeting tonight and not to get involved, she would not heed his words and insists on supporting him in every endeavor he undertakes. He smiles back at her, his soulmate, and knows that he could never let any harm come to her... he would die before he let the terrorists lay a finger on her...

17. Percy Saturn is sitting behind Derek Payne, laughing and stroking his shoulders. He slightly underweighs the younger Payne brother at about three hundred and seventy pounds, and twenty-three years old. The two are great friends, identifying with one another in both obesity and general hatred of everything. Saturn drums the fat on Derek's shoulders and back while he volunteers, as Michael III stares at them both with disgust. Derek has since gone over to the trash that Michael threw his pizza in and retrieved it, and is now picking off all little bits of garbage from his food before he resumes eating it. Mayor Matt Hall remembered Saturn as a senior at Pizza Paradise High when he was a freshman, remembers when Saturn attempted to intimidate him his first week, chanting "Freshman Friday!" at Hall, even though it was a Thursday. Yet there is something more to Saturn, Hall decides, something sinister that has grown within him most recently. A vested interest in Pizza Palace's string of unresolved murders... a secret nod shared between him and the refugee Clotho, a motion of mourning towards Andre Robinson...

18. Vinny O'Neal takes the floor as he pounds a beefy fist into his left palm. Twenty-three years old, six foot three and a half, two hundred and sixty-five pounds of mostly muscle. He is covered head to toe in tattoos, markings of his past acts of violence and vicious streaks of madness, and over one dozen belts, each notch on each one marking a fight in which he's triumphed. O'Neal dropped out of school at a young age and has made his way as a street fighter in the dark alleys of Sauce Street. Although by all accounts he is a man of principle, a sworn enemy of terrorists, Mayor Matt Hall still feels intimidated by the largest man in the room. O'Neal rubs his bald head, his thick skin dimpled beneath tattoos of a duel between a snake and a dragon and a black man, and smiles, only itching to be let loose on anyone suspected of involvement with the terrorists. Hall counts his blessings that O'Neal is seemingly on the side of Pizza Paradise, because he is all too aware of how Earth-shatteringly destructive he could be on the wrong side...

19. J.J. Schiller (Space Ghost) smirks with the cockiness of youth when he raises his hand. Twenty-one years old and never seen without one of his many smoking jackets, Schiller is known widely as Pizza Paradise's most prominent ladies' man. A student in name only, Schiller mostly commits himself to doing God's work of raping bitches while living on his wealthy relatives' dime. He lives to party and has even been known to entertain the company of a man or two every so often. As Schiller. having volunteered, quickly focuses his attention back to making sure there's nothing in his beautiful, bright white smile, Mayor Matt Hall wonders how far he can comfortably trust the town playboy, as he isn't even willing to let his own girlfriend near him for any extended amount of time...

20. "Piggy Petah" Jones (Big Fagot), twenty-three, was an honor student at Pizza Paradise University until he one day, rattled by the tragic death of his twin brother in Pizza Palace at the hands of terrorists, came to the startling, horrific realization that all of his colleagues and teachers were atrocious liberals, all around him. To the shock of all, he dropped out of school immediately and spent half a year backpacking around Pizza Paradise in an attempt to find himself. Along the way, he purchased more than one dozen guns and knives from Muhammad Ali-Jazeera's weapons store, and is routinely apprehended by the police (or, more annoyingly, Magen Joshua David) for shooting cans, bottles and even birds down by the shore of Dead Nigger Gulch. He spent all of last month campaigning the Mayor's office to change the Republican symbol from an elephant to the pig that he has tattooed on his pale, flabby right bicep. Unshaven, half-drunk and half-hung over, he loudly vows to single-handedly conquer the terrorists, but Mayor Matt Hall worries that his political ideologies might make him their ideal recruit...

Also, what does everyone think of the time limits, the new house rule allowing unlimited lynching that I made up, and should there be a penalty for inactivity?
