Honestly, I don't think it's possible to collect enough firepower to take on the government anymore. No gun in the world will save you from missiles and stealth bombers and shit like that. But I don't think gun ownership is inherently wrong because how else are we going to stop the police?

I read about one case where a local chapter of the NAACP allied with the NRA in the 60s to defeat an ambush by the KKK and the police to kill their leader. But, yeah, it's the sort of thing that isn't sustainable against a modern national government. You'd need the support of military leaders, and, at that point, you've probably already fucked up by putting the military in power.

It is definitely fucked that we're the only country in the world that has a psychopathic assault rifle massacre once or twice a year, but when you compare the number of deaths by machine gun/assault rifle per year to the deaths by illegally acquired handguns, it becomes clear that banning ARs is a bandaid solution pushed by nanny state liberals who are more concerned with stamping out relatively harmless "gun nut" culture than actually exacting any kind of effective change in our society.

Listen, I'm super liberal on literally every other issue. But I feel like the way that liberals handle the gun control issue is the same way that Republicans handle pretty much every other social issue: Alarmist bullshit scare tactics which eschew facts and violate human and constitutional rights in order to push the cultural agenda to which their party is tied.

But if ALDP gave a shit about arms and terror caused in foreign countries, he would be protesting the Pnetagon/military-industrial complex (which does a ton of exporting, of course) much more than gun control issues. That's going to happen even if the American public is disarmed.


Gun control is unconstitutional (according to Alan Dershowitz, the constitution probably gives the right to bear arms. Interpreting it any more strictly than this is a dangerous precedent for other amendments)

Excessively difficult to enforce (yes, that alone is no argument I admit. But it is practically reaching red-herring levels given how constipated american energies are)

And probably not even good for the economy.

In any even, this discussion is of no moral value; little more gun control is going to happen at the federal level and nobody is gay enough to listen to ALDP. Sorry for wasting our time
