Many people consider the fifth season to be the weakest. I still think it's pretty fantastic but I thought the ending to the fourth season was about as perfect an ending to the series you could have.

The fifth season was during the strike, which is why there were fewer episodes.

I don't know about other people, but I thought the fictional serial killer/scummy journalist storyline was pretty bad.

The fifth season is definitely the worst.

It's still good, but it kind of crosses the line into being ridiculous.

That being said, it has Marlo Stanfield screaming "My name is my name!" and Omar basically being a god-man and then getting shot in the head by a god damn child. And lots of Clay Davis! Who doesn't love that guy?

The 5th season is the wackiest but I don't think any of the plots in it are bad. Freamon and McNulty go completely around the bend, but only because they get pushed TOO FAR.
