Post     Websites that aren't popular anymore

This is an interesting topic, to me.

The Web has now been around long enough that sites have come, and gone, with the next big thing taking their place, and then that fading away too.

Let's think of some sites that have gone into decline, and maybe why they're no longer popular.

- Slashdot (basically replaced by Digg and all of the sites of that kind)
- Seanbaby.com (I dunno, but nobody cares about him anymore)

So yeah, name some more, I guess.

Yeah, goatse.cx was a popular one among the nerds I knew in middle school. No one seems to talk about it anymore, though.

Slashdot was never really in competition with Digg except in Digg's imagination. Also, Slashdot is still as popular as ever.

There are plenty of people who still use LiveJournal though.

Did anyone watch those Broken Pixels videos with Seanbaby?
Also, some of his articles on Cracked.com are good.

I guess with a lot of these the successor/usurper/cause is obvious.

Big Fagot really can't get enough of the "superfluous space" joke.

It is simply a factual observation that Slashdot gets a fraction of the traffic that it did pre-2005 or so, that it has faded into irrelevance is an almost unanimous consensus, and I can't imagine what sleight-of-hand your brain is employing to obscure these things from your perception.

Myspace still can break a lot of bands though

Newgrounds, yeah. They were the orignal Steam, having everyone else produce content for them.

Something Awful can RAWT.

I know Seanbaby writes for Cracked now, but (one) that's not the point (actually there is no point so never mind), and (two) that's not really a step up.

That's like Bill Cosby going from The Cosby Show to being a castmember on SNL.

Not that you were saying or even implying that it was a step up, so I'm very sorry about this post.
