I have cable because they were like, huh huh, you can have Internet for 60 dollars, or Internet AND TV for 60 dollars and one penny. Also you never know when people are going to be in your house and I really don't have the energy to cultivate a personality that is consistent with not having television service.

I haven't had television service of any kind in almost two years and don't miss it. I have too many unplayed video games and unwatched DVDs stacked up to bother with whatever mundane shit people watch on cable, anyway.

One time several years ago Orgy was talking about why he didn't have cable and he said "the cable rates in Florida are too fantastic", and for reasons I don't understand it made me bust up and I've never forgotten it.

Partly because it's such a rare treat to see someone use the word "fantastic" in that sense!

We get the most basic cable package, and we get it though a provider that is ran by the city of Tacoma, so it doesn't cost much. We can't get the digital box thing to work, so we need this to even get local channels, and then we get a couple other channels like AMC and Travel.

When we lived in Bellingham we did not get cable and we just pick up the local Canadian channels, which meant we missed out on some shows, but we got to watch Corner Gas, and the Daily Show/Colbert were on a local channel plus some other shows that are only on cable in the US.
