The purpose of this thread is for people to name things which are obviously great (Shakespeare, the Rolling Stones, Oreo's), and then for the ridiculous self-important cretins here to make a case for how those great things are really not so great at all, and actually are totally inadequate and undeserving of the esteem in which they're held.

You can wing it if you think you're up to a challenge, but ideally the CRITIQUES will come from people who really do, god knows why, have some beef with unassailable cultural landmarks.

Popularity doesn't happen because things are virtuous in themselves (which they CAN be, but that isn't what causes them to tip into mass popularity).

I guess all of the insults in the explanatory post made you assume this was directed at you, but I figured if this thread succeeded and were interesting it would be somebody like Derek who did most of the heavy lifting.
