Mike Dunn: Back in the days of early FTU, I criticized Mike Dunn for having a shitty punk rock taste in music. He did have a shitty punk rock taste in music, but he also slowly got a bunch of his dad's records on vinyl or whatever and developed an excellent taste in music! His band has a really cool sound, but that will probably be lost on FTU. That being said, I don't really care for Against Me! and Converge, two of his favorite bands, and he hasn't recommended me any good music in forever.

Morgan: The cunt-whore of FTU and I have extremely similar taste in music almost across the board. I think her knowledge of music probably exploded when she was dating Andrew, but otherwise we tend to like similar things and also enjoy listening to a bunch of other shitty stuff of which to make fun. I'm guessing that Morgan probably retconned her life and said something about losing her virginity to Meat Loaf, which is acceptable I guess.

Seru: Clit Swann listens to what seems to be Run-DMC, The Beastie Boys, ACDC and Meat Loaf exclusively. If his music taste were a poster it'd be Yogurtman.

Theldorrin: We share a lot of similar aesthetics in terms of overlapping classical music taste, although I probably enjoy a lot more avant-garde stuff like Glenn Branca, Xenakis and Messaien. Theldorrin has a disturbingly high power level when it comes to nineties pop music, otherwise, Theldorrin denies all of this to appear less human.

Peter Jones: Tool, Limp Bizkit, 311, Black Sabbath Tenacious D. The Huge faggot's music taste seems to explicitly suggest that he picked up music from friends and that otherwise the aural medium's place in his life is when he needs to drive or exists to be made fun of. Otherwise, he despises all music and has GRAPE JUICE FOR ME on repeat in his room.

Servbot: Cappycom listens to the gayest music possible, whether it be fey synthesizer indie pop or white guy's rapping (Calvin is black!). You think with the kind of music he enjoys, he'd have a more attractive, non-republican girlfriend.

Triple Life: Triple Life really seems to have a few rappers who he really relates to and that's okay! Techn9ne has always been entertaining and Brother Lynch Mob or whatever was good when I heard it a few years ago. I don't know if Triple Life really enjoys listening to a lot of music and he never talks about it and often squelches the conversation by calling anyone who listens to anything gay. Recommended a Chamillionaire "A Milli" freestyle to me, which I really enjoyed.

Yuujiro: To finish off the black FTU posters, I guess we have to talk about Ricky Rockett. All I remember is him talking about listening to Dipset Anthem by Juelz Santana and Cam'ron when he played Gunz.

John Buis: Talked a lot about GZA's Liquid Swords, and I think he was really into metalocalypse and Amon Amarth or whatever. I don't really like a lot of current popular metal music (A lot of that Scandinavian LOTR inspired stuff) and Jon's music seems like an extension of his personality as a fat, bearded internet person.

Rick Cristo: He listens to Mall Metal or whatever. It's a combination of screamo music, auto tune, and three note metal riffs. I'm hoping he grows out of this phase as soon as possible.

Spamdini: Spamdini and I went to go see Dio with Black Sabbath together.

Derek Payne: I don't know what FTU's gay dude listens to. He never talks about music.

Michael Payne: All of the things Michael enjoys are all terrible songs with an inherent ironic quality. Since Mike can't really enjoy anything seriously without feeling like he's pandering to some gay fags (like heterosexual sex), he will die as alone and still have his virginity.

Ace Kendo: The most polarizing music listener here. Likes Radiohead but also claims to like Vampire Weekend, one of the most overtly effeminate bands I have ever heard. They sound like a fucking indie yacht rock band, it is just disgusting. I'm sure Ace has plenty of other terrible tastes that I would make fun of him for. Ace is also like, 31 years old.

Chris: The worst person on the internet seems to have decent taste in music. I liked his anecdote about playing Sweet Child O'Mine a lot, and *jerks off in the dark to the Dead Kennedys*

I have been listening to Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear recently. Also Owen Pallet/Final Fantasy. Very psyched about the upcoming Arcade Fire release, and got some tickets to see them at the Merriweather Pavilion in August. However, when Radiohead's new album drops, I probably won't listen to much else for a month or so.

Really, the only reason why I have been listening to such mellow/moody stuff is that previously I had been trying to build up my pre-punk/punk/post-punk/pre-alternative library (Stooges-Clash-Dead Kennedys-Joy Division-Pixies-etc) and needed something opposite to balance everything out.


You forgot that I said I actually like the new MGMT album, a lot, since it reminds me of Beach Boys meets LCD Soundsystem.

I'm over Vampire Weekend, since all their stuff sounds the same and they have no prospect for growth.

They did have one of the best horn sections. Though I'm generally a sucker for anything with horn sections. That was the catalyst for my love of Blood, Sweat & Tears.

I didn't actually start actively listening to music until napster came along. I had no tapes or CDs, so anything I heard was the result of other people playing their stuff or people putting on the radio (I didn't listen to the radio, personally).

God, I hate every band that Ace Kendo mentioned. These days I just listen to a handful of powerviolence, hardcore, grindcore and black metal bands, hip-hop, Radiohead, dubstep, and a lot of David Bowie. I don't really listen to Against Me! anymore, their last two albums have been embarrassingly 13-year-old-pandering.

Actually most of what I listen to is what they play on the radio where I work, which is classic rock if I'm lucky, but usually top 40 pop. That's why I did so well in that shitty music clips contest Magic Juan did a few months ago.

Has anyone heard Freestyle Fellowship? They're really good early 90s hip-hop and most of their stuff is improvised. They spit in a really jazzy style, lots of triplets, like Bone Thugs. I've also been listening to a lot of Bone Thugs. Also Mantronix is great.

And Seru, speaking of funk, did you hear that the poo poo man from P-Funk died?
