I'm convinced that craps was designed to be hopelessly confounding and counterintuitive. I've made three separate attempts now to understand it, but it's still a clusterfuck of senselessness.

They just want you to put your money somewhere, and to not really understand what's happening.

Craps is basically just a game of a hundred different odd combinations thrown together. In order to increase the House odds and get people to vie (?) against one another, you have to earn your way onto the board by getting a successful pass or no pass bet completed, allowing you to bet on the certain combinations of the die, where your bet remains on the table until you lose, or bet on a series of one time bets with increasingly greater odds, but still with a 1 in 36 chance of winning. Since you can double up on your bets pretty easily, it's actually a pretty good money maker when you do get lucky, and I've played Craps and made $300 in a night with maybe $40 with which to start.
