I always rated ff7 only a 7 out of ten, because

A. It was too easy
B. It got fairly gay the last third of the game

Problem, it was more unique, memorable, even replayable (for an RPG, which I usually beat one and am done with) then most other RPGS, indeed any other japanese style RPG.

That and other Japanese RPGS suck. I don't really like how they're taken as seriously as strategy games by supposed old schoolers.

So I am just going to up it to a 10 out of 10

Yes, materia was a very good system. I'm not exactly sure why so many fucking people complained about it to the point where we'll never see it again.

Then again, in FF8 I really liked junctioning. Is there something wrong with me?

Yes. Materia was even more pathetic and broken than the MAGICITE system from VI and junctioning just plained sucked.

Junctioning was probably the only smart thing ever in the Final Fantasy series at all. No wonder it didn't fit in! Systems that actually gave the player an opportunity to think outside the box of linear RPGs is a no-no. I clearly remember that most people didn't understand it even if they told me they did. And the people that actually did understand it, rarely did anything with it because they really just wanted to complete the game or play the card game....

Materia had a lot of potential for a multiplayer system. It should have been the main system in the MMO FF. All the changes from Magicite to Materia weren't explained clearly enough, and most people had shitty set ups on most of their characters. Plus they clearly didn't give you enough quality materia.
