Post     Re: Vampire: The Brink

Jason: The snow keeps falling as you all slowly get to your feet. Richter's thin sword is embedded through the passenger's skull and into the hood of his car. There's slight movement in the driver's seat visible. Wetzel has walked away, lost in thought.

Zero: "Kang, are you okay? I was careless thinking my aim would be worth anything in this snow."

Kang: "I'm fine. You shot Richter. Not me."

Zero: "Oh right."
Zero: *scratches arm a little*
Zero: "Like I said, it's hard to see in this weather."
Zero: "Guys, I'm going to go catch up to Wetzel, he looks... Confused."

Wetzel: "He was trying to kill us!"

Zero: *I run over to Wetzel and grab him by the shoulders*

Wetzel: "He would have killed me if the sword hadn't been there"

Zero: "You should be use to killing by now, old man."

Kang: I'm going to grab the shot gun and search the guys and the car for shells
Kang: Also, like I said, I'll take any bladed weapons.
Kang: AND, is the guy in the car still alive?

Jason: There's a box of ten shells in the backseat. No blades. The driver is covered in blood, moaning, nearly dead. One thing that is quite noticeable is that he's breathing.

Richter: I retrieve my sword and put it back in my cane.

Wetzel: "I didn't have a choice!"

Zero: "The choice was you or him, you made the correct choice."
Zero: "Snap out of it!"

Richter: "Yes, it could be worse. You could be the dead one."

Zero: *yelling at Kang*
Zero: "You find anything over there?!"

Kang: I'll take the shells.
Kang: "The one in the car is still alive."

Wetzel: My ears perk up.

Richter: "Is he in any state to give us information?"

Zero: *I walk over to the car dragging Wetzel with me*

Kang: "Not really. We might be able to get something out of him before he dies, though."

Richter: I'll use mesmerize on the driver if I can, and say. "Answer our questions."

Jason: The driver's eyes are closed.

Wetzel: "Get back, get back."
Wetzel: I push through to the open door and take the driver's pulse.

Richter: I try to get the driver's attention and get him to look at me.
Richter: Or even see if he's conscious.

Jason: The driver is unresponsive, but has a faint pulse.

Richter: "We have places we need to be."
Richter: "We should probably just leave them and head to the warehouse, or to get this book that Wetzel left behind."

Jason: Richter, roll perception plus occult, difficulty five.

dicebot: Richter rolled : 2#d10 --> [ 1d10=6 ]{6} [ 1d10=5 ]{5}

Jason: It does strike you odd that he is breathing.

Wetzel: I look around for some flat object to use as a board to stabilize the driver's neck.

Richter: "Shouldn't this man be dead by now?"

Kang: "I'm not a terribly huge fan out staying out here in the open with two people that we murdered."

Richter: "There's something off about the fact that he's still alive."
Richter: "All things considered."

Zero: "Alive? So he's not undead?"
Zero: "Why is a human tailing us?"

Richter: "He might be a ghoul."
Richter: "Or something else."

Jason: Wetzel, you can find nothing. It's long and desolate road, iced over. The flattest surface is the top of his car.

Richter: "Why don't we stick him in the trunk of our car."

Zero: "We could bring him with us."

Richter: "And get the hell out of here."

Zero: "I'd be okay with that."

Kang: "Moving him without a stretcher and a neck brace will probably kill him."
Kang: "Hehehe"

Zero: "That's a chance I'm willing to take!"

Richter: "Well I'm assuming by the fact that he survived this, he can survive us carrying him to the trunk."
Richter: "Either way he's fucked so I don't think we're going to hurt anything."

Wetzel: "He needs to go to the hospital."

Richter: "I don't generally take people to the hospital who just tried to kill me."

Zero: "Let's throw him in and take him with us to the warehouse. Maybe we can use him as a bargaining chip?"

Richter: "I doubt he's worth that much."
Richter: "At the very least if we take him with us we might get some info later."
Richter: "If not, he's fucking dead and it's no big deal."

Kang: Jason, is their car totaled?

Jason: Yes.

Kang: How close am I to my house?

Jason: Twenty minute's drive.

Kang: fuk

Wetzel: I check the driver for external injuries.

Jason: Wetzel, his neck is broken and he has multiple open wounds. The liquid sound in his breath indicates that his lung has been punctured.

Richter: "The longer we wait here, the more dangerous it gets."

Kang: Hmm
Kang: Do either of the goons have cell phones?

Wetzel: "Someone call for an ambulance. I'll stay until it gets here and then catch up."

Richter: "They know who they were following. Do you really think it's the best idea to call emergency help when we ran them off the road and can easily finger us?"
Richter: "Let's just take the driver and get the hell out of here."

Zero: *I drag the driver over to the car and throw him in the trunk*
Zero: "Are we going to have to drag this lunatic out of here?"

Richter: "We might have to, because we need to get going soon."
Richter: "Night doesn't last forever."

Zero: "Wetzel, we gotta hoof it. Get in the car, old man!"

Jason: Kang, after some digging, you find a cell phone in the driver's pocket.

Kang: Okay, I'll take his cell phone.

Wetzel: "Call 911, I'll wait with him."

Richter: I get Wetzel to look me in the eye and use mesmerize. "Forget about the driver, we need to get going so come on."

dicebot: Richter rolled : 7#d10 --> [ 1d10=2 ]{2} [ 1d10=6 ]{6} [ 1d10=2 ]{2} [ 1d10=4 ]{4} [ 1d10=9 ]{9} [ 1d10=1 ]{1} [ 1d10=4 ]{4}

Richter: Fucking Christ.
Richter: What's with that roll.

Kang: u suk

Jason: Wetzel, you feel absolutely no compulsion to comply with Richter's demand.

Richter: I do the same thing again.
Richter: Especially since I didn't botch.

dicebot: Richter rolled : 7#d10 --> [ 1d10=1 ]{1} [ 1d10=9 ]{9} [ 1d10=7 ]{7} [ 1d10=10 ]{10} [ 1d10=4 ]{4} [ 1d10=4 ]{4} [ 1d10=7 ]{7}

Jason: The difficulty is +1 having already failed.
Jason: Once again, Wetzel, you feel no compulsion.

Wetzel: "Give me the phone. I'll call."

Zero: Haha.

Richter: "I'm fucking leaving. If you guys want to stay here you can."

Kang: "What are you going to say to the police?"

Zero: "Leaving would be a great idea, but leaving someone behind isn't an option."

Richter: "Then let's take him and go"
Richter: "It's not like there's evidence to connect us to the scene."

Kang: "I don't mind calling an ambulance, but it would be foolish for you to stay."

Zero: "Wetzel, if you want this man to live, you could turn him into a ghoul."

Richter: "That won't keep him alive."
Richter: "This is fucking stupid."

Zero: "I agree."

Richter: "The damage is done, and nothing we can do will change that."
Richter: "So let's fucking go."

Jason: Wetzel: Perception + Medicine, difficulty six.

Wetzel: [7, 2, 3, 8, 5, 10, 5]

Jason: Wetzel, no normal human would still be breathing after these injuries. The movement in his extremities tells you that he isn't even paralyzed.

Kang: "Here, I'm going to give you two options. We can call 911 and leave now, or I can shoot him."
Kang: "Letting you stay could be a breach of the masquerade."

Wetzel: "I'll disappear before they get here."

Richter: "Why are we calling 911 for someone who can still fucking move?"
Richter: "Let's take him with us, he might have helpful information."
Richter: "And we can make sure he stays alive."
Richter: "So let's fucking go."

Wetzel: "We can't move him, we don't have the equipment."

Richter: "We don't need any fucking equipment he's clearly not fucking human."
Richter: "I can see that, and I'm not even a goddamn doctor."
Richter: "You, Wetzel, should know that better than anyone."
Richter: "A human doesn't survive that."

Wetzel: "Well we can't leave him like this!"

Zero: *take my handgun and shoot the driver in the head*

Kang: "Well, nevermind."

Jason: Zero, did you really just shoot him in the head?

Zero: Yes.

Kang: I'm gonna go hop in our car.

Richter: Yeah I get in the car, Kang should drive.

Jason: Zero: Conscience, difficulty 10.

***Zero rolls a d10 4 times: 10, 9, 2, 4, total: 25

Zero: (*flex*)
Zero: *I get into the passenger side*
Zero: "You coming, Wetzel?"

Wetzel: I walk up to Zero's door, open it, and pull him out.
Wetzel: "What are you doing?!"

Jason: All right, pause.
Jason: Kang is in the driver's seat. Richter is in the back. Wetzel and Zero stand face to face outside.
Jason: THE DEAD BODY OF THE DRIVER IS STILL IN THE OPEN TRUNK AS WELL
Jason: Go.

Kang: Oh wow
Kang: We actually moved him?
Kang: Hahaha

Zero: (I moved him.)

Richter: Yes, we fucking did.
Richter: But apparently we kept dicking around on this.

Kang: How did that not make his injuries worse?
Kang: I'm so confused.

Richter: Michael he was supernatural.
Richter: I dump the body out of the trunk and then get back in the car.

Wetzel: I grab Zero by the shirt.
Wetzel: "What did you do?!"

Zero: "I did what you should have done earlier."
Zero: "There was no helping that man, no hospital would have been able to treat him."

Richter: "Listen retard and gangbanger, can we get moving because getting shot with a shotgun and then arrested isn't my idea of a productive night."

Wetzel: I punch Zero.

Zero: *I willingly take the punch*

Kang: I guess while they're fighting
Kang: I'm going to look through the guy's cell phone
Kang: Through his contacts
Kang: I'm using obfuscate to make myself invisible by the way

Jason: Kang, you see about fifteen names in his contacts.
Jason: Wetzel: Dexterity + Brawl, difficulty four.

Wetzel: [3, 1, 10, 3]

Jason: Try as you might, either you just don't know anything about punching or you can't summon the strength to hurt another person, your punch lands weakly on Zero's shoulder, harmlessly.

Zero: "Wetzel, I'm not going to raise my fists to you."

Wetzel: "Then shoot me!"

Zero: "It'd be a waste of ammo."
Zero: "The longer we squabble out here, the more night we waste."

Wetzel: I push Zero back and spin around, yelling in anger.

Zero: *I grab Wetzel by the shoulder*
Zero: "I doubt this helps, but I'm sorry."

Kang: Hmm, do I recognize any of the names?

Richter: I'll use awe, Jason.

dicebot: Richter rolled : 4#d10 --> [ 1d10=6 ]{6} [ 1d10=5 ]{5} [ 1d10=2 ]{2} [ 1d10=5 ]{5}

Richter: And it fails.
Richter: Nice
Richter: I'll use it again.
Richter: Fucking gay rolls tonight.

dicebot: Richter rolled : 4#d10 --> [ 1d10=7 ]{7} [ 1d10=9 ]{9} [ 1d10=9 ]{9} [ 1d10=2 ]{2}

Jason: Kang, Wetzel, Zero, all three of you are overcome with a strong sense of devotion to Richter. You feel far more pliable to his will.

Richter: "Wetzel, Zero, we need to get going. We can sort through this later alright. It would make me happy if we moved on to the warehouse."

Wetzel: I look down at the driver's body.
Wetzel: "It doesn't even fucking matter."

Zero: "You heard the man, Wetz. Let's get out of here, we can settle this later."

Wetzel: I get in the car and look out the window.

Zero: *I jump back into the passenger side*

Jason: All right, well.
Jason: Kang starts the car and its GPS begins to direct you to warehouse downtown. You all continue feeling nicely predisposed to Richter as you drive away from the carnage. Wetzel, you catch a glimpse of yourself in the rear view mirror, and you can't help but think that you just look... tired.
Jason: Wetzel, Kang and Richter all regain a point of temporary Willpower for playing to their Natures.

Kang: "Would it be alright if we stopped by my place first?"
Kang: "I want to grab some things."

Richter: "That's fine, but we really should get to this warehouse."

Kang: Okay, I'll drive to my home and grab a backpack, a knife, and a trenchcoat.
Kang: I'd like to change into some clothes that don't smell like raw sewage, too.

Richter: That's fine.

Jason: Twenty minutes later, at around midnight, you reach your home, Kang. It's a very inspiring mansion, the possibly the most regale in the entire city. Unfortunately, its first floor is noticeably scorched and burnt, and the smell of dry wood and ash is still apparent.

Wetzel: As we drive, I begin grinding my palms into my face and grumbling.

Jason: No one's home, Kang, so you change. What's in the backpack?

Kang: I'll keep the shells and knife in the backpack
Kang: Also, a flashlight, I guess
Kang: JUST IN CASE
Kang: Anyway, I'm ready to go.

Jason: Kang returns, changed, smelling a bit nicer.

Zero: "Wait, you don't live in a sewer, Kang?
Zero: "I figured you'd be more comfortable living underground or something."
Zero: "You have any roommates?"

Kang: "No, I live alone."
Kang: "Living in the sewers is the worst thing ever and I'll never do that again."

Zero: "Want any?"

Kang: "No."

Zero: "Fair enough, shall we head to the warehouse?"

Kang: "We're going to park a fair distance away from the warehouse. Let's try to be subtle instead of retarded."

Richter: "That's fine. I'd prefer to avoid getting shot but my coworker and then having a shotgun unloaded into my chest again. So if this will help that by all means."

Kang: Also, Kang drifts a lot.
Kang: When he's driving.

Richter: Parallel drift?

Jason: If you try to drift, you will crash and die.

Kang: Okay
Kang: I won't drift ...

Wetzel: I suddenly pivot in my seat and look out the back window.
Wetzel: "Thought I heard something ..."

Jason: The GPS guides you to the warehouse. You stop two blocks away from the destination.

Zero: "Thanks for not drifting on the way to the warehouse, Kang."

Kang: I'm going to get out of the car
Kang: And scout ahead

Richter: I'll get out of the car while Kang scouts and figure out what Zero and Wetzel want to do.

Zero: *I get out of the car, avoiding eye contact with Wetzel*
Zero: "Mind if I tag along, Kang?"

Kang: "Umm, I'll do this alone. You three figure out what you're going to do."
Kang: I'll use unseen presence to blend into the shadows.

Wetzel: I get out and my eyes fixate on a vaguely humanoid shadow.
Wetzel: I blink hard at it, then rub my eyes and sigh.

Post     Re: Vampire: The Brink

Jason: Two blocks through the snow, sticking to shadows, you find a cold, concrete building at the address Zero gave you. The windows have been painted black, completely opaque.

Kang: Hmm
Kang: I guess I'll circle around it and look for entrances

Jason: The building's impressively large. There's a freight entrance for trucks in the wet, slushy back, and above you you can see a fire escape ladder to the second floor.

Kang: Is the freight entrance open?

Jason: No, the gate is down.

Kang: Hmmm

Jason: Roll Perception + Security, difficulty seven.

***Kang rolls 4 10-sided dice: 2 3 7 4

Jason: The second floor... something's different about it...

Kang: I'll climb up the fire escape then
Kang: Using Unseen Presence
Kang: And STEALTH

Jason: It's higher on the ground than you are.
Jason: You can try to jump, or look for a boost.

Kang: I'll jump

Jason: Roll Strength + Athletics, difficulty three.

***Kang rolls 3 10-sided dice: 5 3 7

Jason: Now, Dexterity + Athletics, seven.

***Kang rolls 3 10-sided dice: 6 10 4

Jason: You barely grab onto the bottom rung of the ladder, which is iced over. Your Unseen Presence drops.

Kang: sigh
Kang: Well, I'll keep climbing then
Kang: And put it on as soon as i can
Kang: I'll be as quiet as possible, too.

Jason: Dexterity + Athletics, seven, extended, you need four total.

***Kang rolls 3 10-sided dice: 7 10 3

Jason: You make it halfway up the ladder without slipping.

***Kang rolls 3 10-sided dice: 2 7 3

Jason: One more rung and you'll be able to pull yourself up to the metal platform.

***Kang rolls 3 10-sided dice: 10 10 6

Kang: Thank God
Kang: I'm the greatest

Jason: You make it on top and your Unseen Presence resumes.
Jason: The platform is attached to the concrete building, however the only way inside is a glass window, which actually has no been painted over, and you can see through its fog if you try.

Kang: Okay, I'll do that.

Jason: Perception + Investigation, difficulty seven.

***Kang rolls 7 10-sided dice: 2 6 6 1 2 8 2

Jason: It's no good, through the fogged window, all you can see is gray.

Kang: Hmm
Kang: I'll try again and use a willpower point

***Kang rolls 7 10-sided dice: 3 5 7 6 4 3 6

Jason: You press your eyes up to the window and can make out four figures on the western wall of the first floor.

Kang: Hmm
Kang: Are they doing anything
Kang: ?
Kang: Anything else interesting about the place?

Jason: You can only see them moving around on the floor.
Jason: Nothing else seems strange to you.

Kang: Is there anyway to open the window from the outside?

Jason: It has a grip, but it's locked. The only way through is to break it.

Kang: Hmm
Kang: I'll go back and meet up with the group then

Richter: "While the sewer rat scouts, what do you two want to do?"
Richter: "Sitting here waiting seems like it might not be the best idea."
Richter: "Especially since I don't necessarily trust him to share any information he gets."
Richter: "At least without a price."

Zero: "We could try calling one of those numbers in the cellphone?"

Wetzel: Am I still awed?

Richter: No I deactivate my awe.

Zero: "How about we head slowly to the warehouse?"

Richter: "We might as well approach and see how dangerous it is."
Richter: "We should be safe as long as we don't get too close."

Zero: "Yeah, we should at least head towards the place so Kang doesn't have to walk two blocks to meet us."

Richter: "Well we might want to keep some distance."
Richter: "I would rather not raise the suspicions of the guards that will undoubtedly be there."

Wetzel: I clap my hands over my ears and lean forward grimacing, as though stretching.

Zero: "What's up, Wetzel?"

Richter: "I've always heard there's supposed to be some knowledge and insight in the madness of the Malkavians."
Richter: "So far it just seems to be a waste of time and an impediment to business."

Wetzel: "Nothing, man."
Wetzel: "So what are we doing?"

Richter: "We're waiting for Kang to get back from scouting."
Richter: "And deciding what we're going to do."
Richter: "Any suggestions?"

Zero: "I'd hate to blow his cover, but just waiting here can be dangerous."

Richter: "Going into a gunfight with you can also be dangerous."
Richter: "But I see your point."

Wetzel: "Well, this spot seems a little conspicuous to me. If you don't mind I'd like to move the car."
Wetzel: "Where are the keys?"

Richter: "Kang has them."
Richter: "And I don't exactly trust you not to run out on us after your episode earlier."

Wetzel: "Yeah, I understand."
Wetzel: "I can be pretty fucked up sometimes. Sorry, man."

Zero: "Sometimes?"

Wetzel: I scowl at Zero, then soften and grin. "Heh."

Zero: "If you're so adverse to violence, Wetz. Why'd you hit me?"

Wetzel: "Right ... I guess I must be on my period or something."
Wetzel: "Sorry about that, man."
Wetzel: "So, you use guns?"

Zero: "By the way, killing that man was a mistake. I've already killed two people in two nights...."

Zero: "In my line of business, it helps to have protection."

Wetzel: "What kind? I grew up on a farm so I had to learn a bit myself."

Zero: "On a farm eh? I've never traveled outside of this city. I get people high."
Zero: "Coke, crack, heroin, acid, you name it, I sell it."

Wetzel: "I mean what kind of guns. I didn't get a look earlier."

Zero: "Oh, I'm sorry. Two semi-automatic pistols."
Zero: "Considering you lived on a farm, I'm guessing you're a decent shot?"

Wetzel: "I was decent."
Wetzel: "Killing wasn't something I worked hard at, but in my hometown you learn to shoot because you have to shoot."

Zero: "Sounds like we went to the same school."

Jason: The shadows begin to stir, and Kang reappears close by.

Kang: "There are two ways into the warehouse."

Zero: *notices Kang's return*
Zero: "Which do you suggest?

Kang: "There's a large opening for trucks and such and a window on the second floor that you can access via the fire escape."
Kang: "We'd have to break it to open it."
Kang: "Also, I saw four people in the building itself."
Kang: "So it'll be difficult to get in without alerting them.

Wetzel: "Humans?"

Kang: "Couldn't tell."

Zero: "I guess going through the docking bay would be the easiest, but we'd also be out in the open..."

Kang: "It's sealed shut."
Kang: "The gate is down and locked pretty tight."
Kang: "Although we could check it again."

Wetzel: "What about the upper window?"

Kang: "We're going to have to break it to get in."

Zero: Was there a lock in place? I'm pretty decent at... Um.... Entering without breaking.

Kang: "Again, we can check it out."
Kang: "Also, I don't think we have to worry about them seeing us while outside."
Kang: "All of the windows are painted over and things looked pretty dead."

Zero: "Okay."

Richter: "While I would prefer to avoid going out into the open."
Richter: "It doesn't sound like we have a lot of options."

Kang: "Let's go."

Zero: *Follows Kang to the fire escape*

Jason: The four of you head to the concrete warehouse. It's very large and, as Kang said, all the windows on the first floor have been painted black. You circle around and find the second floor window, accessible by the fire escape.
Jason: The metal ladder is frozen over, it may not be possible for all four of you to climb it by dexterity alone.

Wetzel: "Hey, Zero."

Zero: "Yeah?"

Wetzel: "I'm feeling awful uneasy about all this, and I know how to shoot."
Wetzel: "You think you could let me have one of those pistols?"

Zero: "Considering you're currently unarmed, I don't have a problem with that. I just hope you have better aim than me."

Kang: "Yeah ..."

Zero: *I toss Wetzel my smaller pistol.*

Wetzel: "Thanks, bro."

Kang: "Anyway, let's figure out how to get up there."
Kang: "I climbed up but it was tough."

Zero: "We could make a human ladder."
Zero: "Lifting each other up and lowering someone for the last person."

Richter: "That seems silly."
Richter: "Entering through the front seems like our only real option."
Richter: "Let's just be ready for the worst."

Kang: "That way is locked."
Kang: Zero might be able to pick the lock

Zero: "I could probably do that with my eyes shut."

Kang: "Yes, let's try the front door."
Kang: "Zero, you should be able to pick that lock."

Zero: "No harm in giving it a shot."

Richter: "Alright is everyone armed?"

Jason: The four of you make your way back around to the front. It's a large, metal double door with a large key lock.

Zero: *I walk up to the door and attempt to pick the lock*

Richter: "I don't think these guys will be letting us pass my 'special' cane around."

Jason: Zero... do you have any lockpicking supplies at all?
Jason: You can't just poof, pick a lock.

Richter: Can we assume he does.

Zero: (No)

Richter: PLEASE!
Richter: You do.

Zero: (Okay.)

Richter: Just say you do and forgot to mention it.
Richter: OH GOD PLEASE!

Jason: FINE.

Zero: (I have a professional lock picking set)

Jason: Zero has A HAIRPIN.
Jason: It's not easy.

Zero: Zero has long hair.
Zero: So he'd have hairpins.

Jason: Roll Wits + Security, difficulty eight.

Kang: I'm going to use unseen presence to blend into the shadows

***Zero rolls a d10 3 times: 6, 8, 7, total: 21

Jason: You manage to get the lock loosened, silently.
Jason: But it's not open just yet.
Jason: One more try should do it.

Zero: "Almost got it guys..."

***Zero rolls a d10 3 times: 10, 8, 4, total: 22

Jason: The door clicks open and makes no more sound. You can enter at any time.

Kang: "Zero, you should go first."

Zero: "Fair enough."
Zero: *I take out my pistol and creep into the warehouse.*

Wetzel: I go in after Zero.

Richter: "Thanks for picking that lock."
Richter: I go in last.
Richter: I also ready my sword.

Wetzel: I pull out Zero's pistol.

Kang: I'll go in after everybody else
Kang: I'm using Unseen Presence

Zero: *whispering*
Zero: "Should we attempt to get closer?"
Zero: "Or sit here and observe?"

Wetzel: "We could split up."
Wetzel: "You two, Zero and me."

Jason: You all enter the warehouse. It's a long, empty building, reminiscent of an air hangar. There are a few scattered brown tables, some junk, a van in the back. On the far western wall are four people, all moving around a figure...
Jason: It's a woman, naked, and she's bound by chains attached to the wall, her limbs spread apart. She's bleeding from numerous wounds. The four people shout at her. You can hear "Give it up!" and "Look, look, look into my eyes. Do it!" and suddenly, one fires a gun into her chest.

Kang: Is she beautiful, Jason?
Kang: Man, we can see her tits and vag

Jason: All four of you roll Wits + Stealth, difficulty eight, except for Kang: difficulty six.

***Zero rolls a d10 3 times: 6, 6, 6, total: 18

Zero: That should be an automatic success.

Wetzel: [6, 5]

***Richter rolls 3 10-sided dice: 8 1 6

***Kang rolls 7 10-sided dice: 6 10 2 6 4 5 3

Zero: (We're a bunch of loud motherfuckers)

Richter: Richter isn't very stealthy.

Kang: Whatever
Kang: As long as I'm hidden

Jason: Kang, you remain unseen in the shadows, crept up against the back wall. However, the door slams shut behind the rest of you, and immediately four pairs of eyes are staring.

Jason: Kang, roll Perception + Alertness, difficulty seven.

***Kang rolls 7 10-sided dice: 9 3 7 8 5 3 3

Jason: The one who told her to open her eyes, he's the curly-locked son of a bitch that killed the Nosferatu.

Kang: Oh jeez
Kang: I'm going to move away from our group.
Kang: I'll stay in the shadows and slowly creep to the side away from Richter and co.

Richter: Do I recognize any of them, Jason?

Jason: You don't, Richter.

Zero: "So much for stealth..."
Zero: "I didn't RSVP in time so I figured I'd just show up, am I late?" *I yell to the torturers*

Jason: One of the four advances at you, Zero, the one who shot the woman. "No," he says, smiling, "you're right on time."
Jason: Combat is starting.
Jason: Roll Initiative.

Wetzel: [2]

***Kang rolls 1 10-sided die: 5

***Richter rolls 1 10-sided die: 5

***Zero rolls a d10: 5

Zero: KEEP THAT IN MIND.

Jason: No it doesn't, dummy.

Zero: Oh Sad

Jason: 2: 7+9, 1: 7+5, Kang: 6+5, Zero, 6+5, Richter: 5+5, 4: 6+3, 3: 3+5, Wetzel: 5+2.
Jason: Everyone declares their action now.

Kang: I'm going to circle around and try to get behind them
Kang: While staying hidden.
Kang: I have my shotgun out, too

Richter: I'll use Dread Gaze on number 4.

Zero: I'll use Celerity to flank the gang members and fire a shot into the closest guy's leg.

Wetzel: I'll shoot whoever is closest in the head.

Jason: Enemy number two, whom Kang recognizes, skips toward you all gleefully, wearing clothes of all white. His strawberry blond locks dance whenever he moves. He stops at Zero and winds back his fist and punches him square in the face.

***Jason rolls 4 10-sided dice: 3 3 8 4

Zero: Gosh.

Jason: Enemy number one, who has the gun in his hand, a rough and scraggly looking man, licks his lips and aims his gun at Zero and fires.

***Jason rolls 6 10-sided dice: 6 5 7 10 6 5

Jason: Kang, roll Wits + Stealth, difficulty four.

***Kang rolls 7 10-sided dice: 5 5 8 6 1 3 2

Jason: Kang, you successfully slink behind the action. You're at the back of the warehouse now, cloaked in shadow.
Jason: Zero, you spend a blood point and roll Dexterity + Athletics, difficulty six, specialty roll.

***Zero rolls a d10 5 times: 9, 10, 3, 8, 4, total: 34

Jason: Zero, you absorb a bullet but roll forward and flank enemy number one.
Jason: Roll Dexterity + Firearms, difficulty seven.

***Zero rolls a d10 7 times: 7, 7, 4, 7, 6, 6, 10, total: 47

Jason: The bullet speeds into the blond man's kneecap and he drops to floor, shouting in pain.

Zero: *I flinch from the gunshot and yell at the other's encouragingly*

Jason: Richter, Charisma + Intimidation, difficulty seven.

***Richter rolls 5 10-sided dice: 6 6 1 4 4

Richter: Are you fucking kidding me.

Jason: Richter, you attempt to bare your fangs at enemy number four but you're so overcome with emotion that you stumble forward and fall down.
Jason: Dexterity + Athletics, difficulty seven.

***Richter rolls 3 10-sided dice: 1 6 4

Jason: You may not act next turn.

Wetzel: Christ!

Richter: Well I guess that frees me up for the next hour or so.

Jason: Enemy number four, a thin man with thin hair pulled back in an agonizingly ugly tie, holds out his hand and concentrates.

***Jason rolls 4 10-sided dice: 9 4 1 4

Kang: We're all about to get erections.
Kang: He has erection power.

Jason: But nothing happens, and he curses out loud.
Jason: Enemy three is a a woman, heavyset and white, and she simply maintains a defensive stance.
Jason: Wetzel, you raise your gun and fire at the head of enemy one.

Wetzel: "YEEEAAAAHHH!!"

Jason: Roll Dexterity + Firearms, difficulty six.

Wetzel: [7, 6, 8, 4]

Jason: The blond, still clutching at his leg, takes a bullet to the head and falls backward, twitching.

Richter: Hahaha so much for Wetzel's humanity.
Richter: Jesus.

***Jason rolls 2 10-sided dice: 3 2
***Jason rolls 8 10-sided dice: 6 6 8 5 8 8 1 10

Wetzel: "Son of a bitch!"

Zero: "Wetzel...."
Zero: "What the hell do you think you're doing?!"

Jason: Zero, roll Stamina, difficulty six.

***Zero rolls 2 10-sided dice: 6 3

Jason: The bullet is lodged in your abdomen.
Jason: You take two levels of bashing damage.

Zero: Ugh.

Kang: I'll creep up on the closest one to me, Jason
Kang: Stick out my shotgun until the barrel is nearly touching his back
Kang: And then shoot.

Zero: I'll just shoot the crazy-haired guy in the leg.

Wetzel: I'll shoot whoever's next in the head.

Jason: Zero, you shoot enemy two, prone on the ground, in the leg.
Jason: Dexterity + Firearms, difficulty 5.

***Zero rolls a d10 7 times: 10, 2, 3, 8, 5, 1, 1, total: 30

Jason: Enemy two gets back to his feet and starts running away.
Jason: Enemy one takes aim at Zero and fires.

***Jason rolls 6 10-sided dice: 3 8 3 5 3 5

Zero: Enemy one's gun backfires and blows his head off

Jason: No, he shoots you in the head and you stumble backward but keep your footing.
Jason: You take one level of damage from the shot.

Zero: K... Kck.
Zero: Being shot in the head is no big deal.

Jason: Once again, enemy four concentrates...

***Jason rolls 4 10-sided dice: 8 2 5 3

Wetzel: Noooo!

Zero: *coughs up vitae*

Jason: An AK-47 appears in his hands.

Jason: Wetzel, you fire at enemy one's head, Dex + Firearms, difficulty eight.

Wetzel: [6, 10, 4, 10]

Jason: The bullet hits him right through the cheek and he also stumbles backward, dropping to an angry crouch.

Jason: Dexterity + Firearms, difficulty six.

Wetzel: Jeez!

Jason: She huddles close to the wall, directly underneath her prisoner.

Zero: At least we haven't shot each other yet.

Jason: She's cowering.

Wetzel: I shoot the AK47 guy.

Kang: I'll fire at her again then!
Kang: She's going down!
Kang: I'll do the same thing I did last turn.

Richter: Who is closest to me?

Jason: Enemy one, the scraggly guy with the gun.

Zero: I'd like to use a blood point to heal one point of damage.
Zero: The hole in my head...

Jason: Oh, also, you all notice that enemy two, Kang, the guy who killed the Nosferatu, is making his way to the second floor.
Jason: You can still take another action, Zero.

Zero: Oh.
Zero: I'd like to take another shot at the weird hair guy.

Jason: Which one?
Jason: The blond?
Jason: He's who I just said is running upstairs.

Richter: I'll spend a blood point increasing my dexterity, stand up, and disarm the one with the AK-47 using my cane sword.

Zero: Oh.
Zero: I'll shoot the fat bitch then.
Zero: In the leg.

Richter: Go for the scraggly haired one.
Richter: Or the one making his way to the second floor.

Zero: Wouldn't I have to chase after him?

Jason: Yes.

Zero: Okay, I'll run after the blond who's running up the stairs.

Jason: That'll be multiple actions.

Richter: You should just use celerity.

Zero: I'm gonna need to feed after this fight!
Zero: I'll use Celerity.
Zero: And chase after the blond dude.

Jason: Enemy one stands up and looks super pissed at Wetzel and fires at his head.

Kang: Haha

Jason: Dexterity + Athletics, six.

***Richter rolls 3 10-sided dice: 10 6 10

Jason: Wetzel, you fire at the man with the AK.
Jason: Dex + Firearms, difficulty six.

Wetzel: [5, 9, 6, 10]

Jason: You hit him in the chest, he steps back and clutches his gun to the wound.
Jason: Enemy number two, on the upper floor, sees the bullet hole in the glass and his eyes go wide. "So long!" he shouts as he punches out the window and LEAPS TO SAFETY.

Kang: WOW THAT GAY GUY ESCAPED

Jason: Richter, you stumble forward and thrust your sword to the man with the AK, to disarm him.

***Richter rolls 6 10-sided dice: 1 7 4 6 10 2

Jason: Two.

Richter: I'll heal that.

Jason: You're at three total.

Richter: I'll heal that.

Kang: I'm gonna go check on the naked chick.

Wetzel: I rudely drop Zero's gun where I'm standing.
Wetzel: My chest heaves and I look around. My eyes are insane.

Richter: You should take the ak-47.

Kang: "Someone who cares should figure out why he's breathing."

Wetzel: I pick up the AK47.
Wetzel: "Is that her?" I say, gesturing to the captive woman.

Kang: "Yes, I think it is the Tremere that we're after."

Zero: "Wetzel, you alright?"
Zero: *I limp over to the female Tremere and wrap my jacket around her.*

Wetzel: "No time like the present ..."
Wetzel: I walk over to a corner where a wooden pallet is leaned against the wall.
Wetzel: I press my foot against it and peel off a chunk of wood with both hands.

Jason: The woman is chained up. She has many wounds all over her body. Bullet holes, stabs, even burns. But she is still moving. Most sadistically, her eyelids have been cut off. Her face is stained red, and a number of plastic gallon jugs are nearby, some filled with blood, some empty.

Richter: Is the blood safe for her to drink?

Jason: You can't tell.

Richter: Assuming this is Lucy.
Richter: "Kang if this is Lucy she'll need blood. Can you smell the stuff in the buckets to see if it's safe?"

Kang: Yeah, I guess I'll do that.

Jason: Perception + Medicine, difficulty six.
Jason: Specialty roll.

***Kang rolls 5 10-sided dice: 6 8 8 10 4

Jason: It's fine. Smells good enough to drink.
Jason: It's a little old, is all.

Wetzel: I walk back and come up behind Kang.

Kang: Umm

Wetzel: With a huge windup, I slam the foot long splinter of wood into Kang's back, staking him.

Kang: Hahaha
Kang: *is destroyed*

Zero: Fuck.

Richter: Wait, what?

Jason: Dexterity + Melee, difficulty eight, wetzel.

***Wetzel rolls 3: 5, 6, 2

Wetzel: o_o

Zero: Wetzel has finally lost it.

Kang: I'll spin around and shoot Wetzel

Jason: Wetzel, you try to push the wood forward, but you hit at the wrong angle and only scratch along Kang's trenchcoat.

Richter: "What the fuck is going on?"
Richter: "We were about to be fucking done with this chore."

Jason: Kang, dexterity + firearms, difficulty four for point black.
Jason: Your dexterity has returned to normal, by the way.

***Kang rolls 4 10-sided dice: 4 2 4 3

Jason: Boom, a shotgun shell hits you square in the stomach, Wetzel.

***Jason rolls 9 10-sided dice: 9 1 6 6 8 8 1 4 1

***Jason rolls 1 10-sided die: 10

Richter: "Fuck!"

Jason: Fortunately, you absorb the damage.
Jason: You stumble back in pain, however.

Kang: Hmm

Wetzel: I fall on my back, convinced I've been killed.
Wetzel: "You shits ..."
Wetzel: "You should know better than to oppose Anselme Pavel."
Wetzel: My chest bucks up and down in shallow breaths.
Wetzel: I look at Zero.
Wetzel: "And you can rot in hell for shooting me in the head!"

Richter: "Is the retard being retarded, or is this genuine?"

Jason: Wetzel, roll Willpower, difficulty six.

***Wetzel rolls 9: 2, 10, 5, 3, 1, 1, 10, 2, 6

Zero: "Wetzel, I think you should take a breather..."

Kang: I slowly back away from Wetzel.

Jason: You still hear a myriad of noises in your mind, the door that that soul took to Hell isn't yet closed, but after a few moments, you begin to identify yourself again.

Wetzel: I sit up slowly, noticing the wound in my stomach.

Zero: "Wetzel was just possessed by a sore loser, guys."

Richter: "I guess it was genuine."

Kang: "We're so close to being done with this."

Wetzel: "What happened? Weren't we waiting for the Nosferatu to scout the warehouse?"

Jason: Wetzel, roll Conscience, difficulty nine.

***Wetzel rolls 5: 3, 3, 1, 6, 4

Jason: Flashes of images begin to invade your head: a vampire's face exploding into rotten meat, another one being mutilated and massacred. Blood, everywhere. The smell and warmth of a gun in your hands. The desire to stake your comrades. It comes flooding back to you, one moment at a time. The death and misery all around you eat away at your soul, you've lost a point of Humanity and of Conscience.

Zero: Fuck.

Richter: "You, my friend, are a monster."

Kang: "I don't want to waste any time figuring out whether or not the Malkavian had an episode or was possessed."
Kang: "Let's just get this Tremere back to the Prince."
Kang: "Zero, you should get your gun back from Wetzel considering he just tried to murder me."

Richter: "Either way I agree with the Nosferatu we need to take care of the business at hand."

Zero: *I walk over to Wetzel*
Zero: "Wetzel, you mind if I have my pistol back?"

Richter: "He already dropped it."

Zero: "Oh."
Zero: in that case...
Zero: *I pick up my gun off the ground and pocket it.*
Zero: "Okay, let's get the naked chick out of here and into the car."

Kang: "Also, hanging around here clearly isn't safe."

Richter: "One of you gun users should grab the AK."

Zero: "I'll try my best to get Wetzel to calm down and follow us."

Wetzel: I stand up and stagger away.

Zero: I wouldn't be able to conceal the AK.

Jason: Neither would Kang.

Richter: I put my cane sword away.
Richter: And I do my best to help the woman drink the blood from the bucket.

Wetzel: Kang is super gross looking!

Kang: I keep the barrel of my shotgun leveled at Wetzel.

Zero: "Wetzel, I know you're better than this! Snap out of it, old man!"

Kang: "Someone get her down."

Jason: The girl swallows and begins to cough. Her face is nightmarish, without lids, her eyes are a haunting constant stare and her skin is a gruesome pink from the blood splashed on her face. But she comes to and whispers "Who are you...?"

Richter: "We were sent by the prince to find you and bring you back to him."
Richter: "That is, if you're Lucy."

Jason: "My Percy?" she asks sadly.

Richter: "Yes."

Jason: Richter, you spot a key next to the jugs of blood. It will probably undo her chains.

Richter: I unlock her chains.

Zero: *Ignoring Wetzel, I walk over to help Richter with the naked Tremere woman*

Jason: She collapses to the ground, and desperately crawls to the jugs. She tosses their caps aside and downs them rapidly, not even having time to swallow as much of it pours out of her mouth.
Jason: Slowly, her wounds begin to heal.
Jason: She's small, about five feet tall, with thin, straight black hair.
Jason: Her eyelids grow back, and she closes them and begins to sob tears of blood.

Zero: "You okay to walk out of here on your own?"

Richter: "Are you going to be alright?"

Jason: She looks up. "The van, where's their van?"

Zero: *I point towards the crashed van*
Zero: "Is there something inside you need me to grab?"

Wetzel: I walk back over and observe from a distance.

Jason: "My things... my clothes and my purse..."

Zero: *I limp towards the van and inspect the inside*

Richter: "Well let's get them and get the hell out of here."
Richter: Also I'd like to drink some of the remaining blood from the jugs.
Richter: If I can.

Jason: She finished them all.
Jason: In the back of the van, Zero, you see a pile of torn charcoal clothes and a black luminescent purse.

Richter: Damn

Zero: *I grab her things and toss them onto Lucy's lap*
Zero: "Hurry so we can get out of here."

Wetzel: I approach the rest of the party.
Wetzel: "I'm better now."

Jason: She immediately opens the purse, and searches it, ignoring you. It takes a moment, but she pulls out an items and carelessly tosses the purse itself away. She holds it to her bare chest and closes her eyes in exhausted satisfaction. You can just barely see that it's an expensive, well-made pen.
Jason: She stands, and dresses herself, noticeably uncomfortable with you all watching.

Richter: I turn away.

Kang: ARE HER TITS HUGE?
Kang: LIKE VOLLEYBALLS?

Jason: No.

Kang: WTF

Jason: Like oranges.

Zero: More like grapefruits.
Zero: Because they are huge.

Kang: "Let's hurry and go."

Jason: Finally dressed, she fruitlessly attempts to fix her hair and asks "Is there a way out?"

Kang: "Yes, out the front."

Zero: "I'm glad you're back with us, Wetzel. You should probably stop shooting people's heads off if you want to retain any kind of control of yourself."

Richter: "Yes follow us to our car."
Richter: We lead her to the car.
Richter: Get in and get the hell out of here.
Richter: Kang drives.

Kang: I guess I drive.

Wetzel: I get in.

Jason: You all walk the two blocks through the snow and cold and shuffle into the car. Kang gets into the driver's seat and Zero the passenger's. Lucy sits between Wetzel and Richter in the back. She looks up at Kang and says "I'm sorry, but could we please stop at the library on the way?"

Richter: "I don't know if you want to go there first."
Richter: "Things aren't exactly going well there from what we gathered."

Jason: "That's why I have to go," she says, looking extremely worried.

Kang: "What do you guys think?"

Zero: "She's been through a lot, making a pit stop should be fine."

Richter: "If you get hurt it's on us."
Richter: "We'll take you to the prince and then go in your place."
Richter: "Okay?"
Richter: I say that persuasively!

Wetzel: "We wanted to go there anyway," I say quietly.

Jason: She looks very conflicted, and continues nervously caressing the pen in her hands. "Percy..." she whispers, then says "All right. Take me to the Elysium, then please, I beg you, go to the library and make sure my people are safe."
Jason: "Especially my sire, Esma."

Richter: Oh shit.
Richter: I succeeded.

Kang: I'll drive her to the prince.

Richter: "We saw Esma and she helped us find you."
Richter: "But we will check on her again."

Kang: I drift at every available opportunity.

Richter: Roll drive+fag

Jason: You drive through the gray and the fog to the Elysium, the ride is far to difficult to attempt ANY DRIFTING EVER.

Zero: *pops in Eurobeat album*

Wetzel: HARDCORE
Wetzel: YEAH

Jason: You park the car outside and two guards stationed at the door immediately walk to the car.

Zero: "Instead of seeing to us, go fetch the prince. He has a guest."

Jason: The two guards look at one another. "The prince," one says, "will not be... fetched." The other then asks "Do you have her?"

Richter: "We were to bring her to the prince."
Richter: "Not leave her with subordinates."

Kang: Jason, did we see her ass hole when she was changing?

Jason: "Do you have her or not!" he commands.

Kang: "Yes, we have her.

Zero: "Would we be here if we didn't? Yes, she's here."

Jason: "Then we will walk you all to the court," he says, and opens your doors.
Jason: When Lucy exits the car, the guards bow graciously. She says to them: "They're to run me a personal errand, let them go."
Jason: The guards turn to you four. "All right," one says. "You heard her. Get to it. Report back here when you're through." The other asks Lucy, "My lady, did you succeed?"
Jason: She whispers to him: "I did."
Jason: End of Chapter Two.

Kang: We did it, brosefs.
Kang: We saved the girl
Kang: killed the bad dudes
Kang: My guy will never forget what her pussy looks like

Chapter Three: The Three Malkavians

They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.
- Andy Warhol

Jason: It's about one o'clock in the morning, outside the large, nondescript building which plays host to the Prince's Elysium. The snow continues to fall, illuminated by the Lincoln's headlights which the four of you sit in, uncomfortably. The two guards stationed outside have brought Lucy in, and you are preparing to make the drive to the library.
Jason: However, before Kang starts the car, one of the guards exits the building and walks to you all.
Jason: He leans over the car's hood and knocks his fist against it to get your attention, then points his finger at Richter in the back seat.
Jason: "You," he says. "Out." He curls his fingers up in a beckoning motion.

Zero: "Looks like you're in trouble with the principal, Richy."

Richter: I get out of the car and follow him.

Jason: "You other three, get to it," the guard says.

Zero: "You heard the man, Kang. Let's head to the library."

Kang: Oh
Kang: I suppose I'll drive to the library then.

Jason: It's a slow drive in the snowy fog, and before you reach the building, you can hear sirens.

Zero: "Think 5-0 is there because I knocked over the bookshelves?"

Jason: Illuminating the snowfall are the flickering and flashing lights of a fire truck, parked hastily outside, overrunning the curb. All the people you saw on the library's first two floors are outside in the snow, shaken, scared. The library's employees consult with firemen. Everyone shivers.

Kang: I sigh.
Kang: "Here, let's go find out what happened."
Kang: I'll find a place to park.

Zero: "Want me to step out and ask around?"

Wetzel: "What kind of library is open this late anyway?"

Zero: "Well, it is probably overseen by our kind."

Wetzel: "I think they'll remember us, Zero. Maybe I can listen to what's being said."
Wetzel: I use Heightened Senses.

Zero: "Good point."

***

Jason: You hear the librarian explaining to the firemen that she doesn't know what happened. A fire suddenly erupted from the basement, without any warning.

***

Wetzel: "They're saying that the fire came from the basement. Something must have happened to the conclave."

Kang: I'll use unseen presence and head to the library.

Jason: There's a barricade at the library's entrance. It would be very difficult to cross unnoticed.

Zero: "I guess we won't just be walking in."

Kang: "We could look for a back entrance."

Wetzel: "Where would the conclave have gone if they had to escape?"
Wetzel: "Was this why Richter was called in?"

Zero: "Richter and Kang both entered the conclave.... right?"

Kang: "No, we didn't."

Zero: "Oh."

Kang: "Do you think we should give this place a closer look or head back to the prince?"

Zero: "Let's circle around back and see if there's another way in."

Kang: Alrighty, I'll circle around the building and try to find another way in.

Jason: Suddenly, the shadows rustle outside of the car, and there's a finger knocking on the driver's window.

Kang: I'll roll down the window and see who it is.

Wetzel: I grab the door latch, expecting to need to jump out.

Jason: A young, pretty face is unshrouded before you. It's the Tremere from earlier. Her eyes are stained red with blood. She looks into your car, inspecting its passengers and asks: "Where's the man I spoke to earlier?"

Zero: "I guess she's asking for Richy?"

Kang: "Yes."
Kang: "He's with the prince right now."
Kang: "What's going on?"

Jason: She looks distraught, and struggling for words. "Drive away from here. I'll meet you two roads down." Then she is shadow once more.

Kang: Okay, I'll do that.

Wetzel: "I hope she is who she appears to be."
Wetzel: "We'd better go, but let's be on guard."

Zero: "Might as well."

Jason: Kang drives two blocks and turns the corner. There, near an alley, you find the Tremere girl in her robes, half-blended in shadow.

Kang: I'll get out of the car and approach her.
Kang: I have my shotgun out by the way.

Wetzel: I get out too.

Zero: "I'll trail behind Kang, both hands in my pockets."

Jason: She fidgets nervously as you all approach. She speaks these next words after a noticeable inner struggle: "Please, if any of you work for Anselme Pavel, just kill me now."

Zero: "Do YOU work for Pavel? Why would you think we would work with that piece of shit?"

Wetzel: I look away, then say "What happened to the conclave?"

Kang: "Yes, what happened?"

Jason: "Outsiders," she says, "may not know this, but our chantry is equipped with a failsafe. The Tremere protect their secrets at the highest cost, and if it were ever invaded, we have a mechanism to destroy it."
Jason: "But..."

Kang: "But what?"

Jason: Droplets of blood roll from her eyes, she bites her knuckle. "It was tripped, without any warning. One of Anselme Pavel's men, he knew how to do it."
Jason: "I was the only one out of the room... I... was, I offered to clean up the books that had been knocked over when the cases fell. Suddenly, when I was walking up the staircase, the chantry erupted."
Jason: "Every Tremere inside of it was burned alive."

Wetzel: I pause a moment in deference to what she's been through.

Kang: "Hahaha, your jack assery saved the woman, Zero."

Wetzel: "How do you know it was Pavel's man? Did you see him?"

Zero: "Yeah, sorry about the books... Not that it matters now."

Jason: She appears visibly pained by your remark Kang. She begins speaking directly to Wetzel. "I did. He ran past me when the failsafe started, I tried to see him as well as I could. His powers of Obfuscate were stunted when he escaped, it gave me a short chance. He was bald, thin, wrinkled. Frail, even."

Zero: "Does the description seem familiar to any of you guys?"

Kang: "No."

Jason: "He must be with Anselme because... Lucy's sire, Esma... she told us that if Lucy were captured, they'd be extracting all this kind of information from her. The Kindred that did this must have gotten the failsafe passcode from her."
Jason: Zero, Wetzel, this person sounds a lot like that man you were watching on the second floor.

Wetzel: "Zero, that might have been ..."

Zero: "That goddamn shadow that forced me into the bookshelves...."

Wetzel: I turn my head to the ground and cover my mouth with my hand.

Zero: "Looks like we were too late rescuing her from the torturers."
Zero: "By the way, Lucy is safe with the Prince now."

Jason: Seemingly having forgotten, she looks up at you, wide-eyed "Lucy! Did you save her?"

Zero: "She's fine, would you like us to take you to her?"

Kang: "If Esma knew that Lucy was captured and you knew that would compromise the conclave ..."
Kang: "Well, why were you so unprepared?"
Kang: "Eh, whatever. It doesn't matter."

Jason: "We were working," she says to Kang. "I'm sorry, but I admit that we didn't trust your abilities to retrieve her. We thought that with just another hour of conjure we could locate her."
Jason: "That's one bit of good news," she says, hearing Lucy is safe. "Listen, I'm sorry to ask this of you, but could you return to her? Tell her... tell her how worried Esma was, please. Tell her that her sire was thinking of her until the end. And tell her it's no longer safe for us here. Anselme will find us."

Zero: "Why can't you tell her yourself?"

Jason: "My name is Abigail, by the way. I'll be leaving now, getting away from the city. She must do the same. The prince... the prince can no longer protect her."

Kang: "Okay."
Kang: "Let's head back to the Prince's Elysium."

Zero: "Abigail, be safe."
Zero: *I gently pat Abigail on her lower back and walk back to the car.*

Wetzel: "The PRINCE can't protect her? What's going on here? Why is she so desired?"
Wetzel: "What is this information?"
Wetzel: "Does it have anything to do with a certain pen?"

Jason: "The prince will fall," she says. "There's nothing we can do to stop it."
Jason: "I'm sorry, I really have to go. Maybe we'll see each other again, once this is over."
Jason: She vanishes back into the alley. You hear her light footsteps fading into the distance.

Kang: I'll head back to the car
Kang: And wait for Wetzel and Zero to get in
Kang: Then I'll drive back to the Prince's PLACE

Wetzel: I'll do the same.

Zero: *Jumps in the passenger side*

Wetzel: "Do you think she meant that? She seemed understandably shaken, but - the prince will fall?"

Zero: "Well, he hasn't always been prince of this city."
Zero: "The prince has become complacent, it was only a matter of time before someone decided to throw a coup."

Jason: You all get in the car and try your best to enjoy to the somber ride back to Elysium. Kang parks outside and the two guards wave you through. Once again, the winding hallway leads you all to the prince's court, and there you see both the prince and the Tremere that you saved behind his raised glass chamber. She sits in her throne, looking recuperated, while the prince stands over his.
Jason: In the center of the court is Richter. You enter just in time to hear the prince say the words: "Take him away."

Jason: The guard escorts you down the familiar twisting hallways to the prince's court. There he stands, in front of his and Lucy's thrones, inside the glass chamber. The guard abrasively pushes you forward to face him.

Richter: "You needed my assistance, Prince?"

Jason: "Richter Belmondo," Prince Percival says, pacing deliberately. "Do you take us for a fool?"
Jason: He's playing with you a bit. You can tell from the buzz of the harpies around you.

Richter: "No, so why don't you tell me what this is about?"

Jason: "You will address us as Prince in this conversation, fellow Ventrue, are we clear?" The harpies snicker, the deputies watch with smug pride.

Richter: "Forgive my transgression, Prince. I was just in a rush to get back to your seneschal's errand. I would never mean you such a great offense, Prince."

Jason: "If you do not believe that we are a fool, Richter, why must you treat us like one?" He continues his cat and mouse line of questioning to the increasing bemusement of his court.

Richter: "I suppose you referring to some supposed association with Anselme Pavel, Prince?"
Richter: "I can't honestly be held responsible for the people who come seeking my services. Especially when I never actually agreed to anything, Prince."

Jason: "We sent two deputies to your home this evening, Richter, and without ever coming across them you somehow knew, as if by magic, that we had summoned you!"
Jason: "And what's more, you stood in our Elysium and told us that you had been... to a party... last night. When the very reason we had summoned you was because we knew you had spent the night with Anselme Pavel!"
Jason: "We trusted you then, fellow Ventrue. We believed you would not be enticed by his schemes. And we needed you, to retrieve poor Lucy. But we can no longer overlook this odd behavior, now that she has been returned."

Richter: "I would assume that the return of your seneschal would suffice as a sign of trust. You, Prince, know very well if I worked for Anselme Pavel that rabble (sic) you sent me with would easily be convinced hand her straight over to Anselme."
Richter: "Yet instead she is returned safe and sound. Because I despise Anselme Pavel."
Richter: "He robbed me of something quite valuable, and then attempted to make me his servant.
Richter: I have no intention of ever aiding him, my Prince."
Richter: "I don't see why I should have to prove anything, however, that my actions haven't already proven."
Richter: "Prince."
Richter: Or whatever with the proper honorific.

Jason: The prince stands straight, with great pride and dignity. He folds his arms together and thinks. "We are very upset that you lied to us in such a grave situation. However, you did rescue our Lucy, and for that we owe you our gratitude."
Jason: He strokes his chin. "You are well-spoken, fellow Ventrue. You share our clan's sharp tongue. However, so does Anselme Pavel. And in such a situation, we cannot tread lightly."
Jason: "We are not convinced. Our sheriff," the prince says, and motions to a large, but intelligent looking black-haired man standing outside his glassed platform, "will bring you now to a cold, dark room. You will not leave it until you have told us absolutely everything that you know about Anselme Pavel."

Richter: "I'm glad faithful service is rewarded so well in Nauset, my Prince."
Richter: "What is it you think I know about Anselme, Prince?"

Jason: A door on the right of the court opens. Lucy walks through it. The harpies and guards step back to let her through, a human(ish) sea, parting in her way. She walks up the steps to the prince's glass chamber, and he unlocks its door, letting her in. She's dressed in a very thin black shirt, and her hair has clearly been remade by a well-meaning Toreador.
Jason: "Lucy," the prince says. They speak softly to one another. It is not at all difficult to tell: they're lovers.
Jason: They whisper to one another for some moments, the prince contented to ignore you.

Richter: I wait patiently while Lucy and the Prince talk.
Richter: Not wishing to push my luck any further.

Jason: They continue to deliberate, until finally the prince caresses her shoulder and she sits down in her adjacent throne. The prince brings his attention back to you. "Your mission was a fruitful one, Richter."

Richter: "I see, how so, my Prince?"
Richter: "Aside from the obvious of course, Prince."

Jason: "Our dear Lucy has procured some very helpful information about Anselme... however, we would like to see how it gels with what you can provide."
Jason: The prince looks to his sheriff once more. "Take him away," he says swiftly.

Post     Re: Vampire: The Brink

Zero: "Take him away? What'd Richy do to piss you off, Mr. Prince?"

Jason: Richter, you turn around to see your makeshift coterie entering the court.

Richter: I ask my coterie.
Richter: "How did it go at the library?"

Jason: Lucy, the Tremere seneschal stands abruptly. "Yes," she asks, "is everyone all right?"

Wetzel: "There was an incident."

Zero: *I put my hands in my pockets*

Kang: "The conclave was burned down."

Zero: "Abigail says hi."

Kang: "Abigail was the only survivor."

Jason: "My sire...?" she asks, her voice quiet and hoarse.

Zero: I whisper to Kang and Wetz "should we mention the whole "prince biting the dust and hightailing it out" part?"

Kang: "Your sire is dead as far as I know."
Kang: "Abigail seemed to indicate that."

Wetzel: "I'm sorry."

Zero: "Y... You were the last thing your sire thought of before her final death."

Jason: Lucy makes an odd, pained noise and falls to her knees. Her eyes dash left and right, trying to process this news. They begin to tear up. The prince gently places a hand in her hair.

Zero: "Sorry for calling you out, Lucy. You should have warned us of such when you were rescued though."

Jason: "No!" Lucy screams and pounds her fists against the glass. "It's my fault," she cries. "It's all my fault." The prince kneels down to face her, he brushes her hair away from her eyes and leans his head against hers, whispering something faint.

Kang: Yeah, I've got nothing to say.
Kang: I'll just stand there and let her cry, I guess.

Zero: "I'd still like to know what business you had with Richy."

Jason: Wetzel, roll Perception + Empathy, difficulty five.

dicebot: Wetzel rolled 6#d10 --> [ 1d10=2 ]{2}, [ 1d10=6 ]{6}, [ 1d10=10 ]{10}, [ 1d10=5 ]{5}, [ 1d10=10 ]{10}, [ 1d10=10 ]{10}

Wetzel: Not bad!

***

Jason: Wetzel, your ears prick up and you can hear the prince's words quite clearly through the glass: "Don't worry," he's saying. "We'll kill him. We'll kill him before the night is through."

***

Jason: The prince kisses her cheek and stands, looking at the four of you.

Wetzel: Looks like this is gonna be one helluva night!

Jason: "If any of you are thirsty, drink now," he says, nodding over to the same array of the punch bowl, wine glasses, bottles, all filled with vitae.

Kang: I'll do that

Richter: Yeah I'll drink until I am full.
Richter: Gracefully.

Zero: "Do you have any.... "laced" blood, sir prince?"

Wetzel: I abstain.

Kang: Oh
Kang: I guess I should have sniffed it first
Kang: Hahaha
Kang: *dies from poison*

Zero: "Oh, I didn't mean to scare you guys."
Zero: "I wasn't referring to poisoned blood..."

Jason: Kang abrasively walks over to the punch bowl and once more ravenously treats himself to a full helping. The blood coats his lips disgustingly and the harpies who aren't repulsed are laughing at him.
Jason: Richter, you walk to a wine glass and drink one, but can tell immediately that this blood won't satisfy you.
Jason: Zero, the prince looks at you and sneers his upper lip and says "Absolutely not."

Zero: "Cheap bastards..."

Wetzel: "So what happens now?"

Zero: *I force my shaking hands into my pockets.*

Wetzel: "What's the meaning of all this? Who's stealing what from whom?"

Jason: "Tragic though this night has been," the prince says, "it has not been a total loss. You four have rescued our seneschal, and for this you have our eternal gratitude." The prince is looking you in the eyes, Richter. He's letting you know that he hasn't forgotten.

Zero: "I need blood...."
Zero: "Sweet, sweet vitae..."

Richter: I nod.

Jason: "And, in even happier news, Lucy's undertaking was a successful one. Through great peril, she obtained a relic used by Anselme himself, and her eyes are upon him."

Zero: I begin pacing the room with my headphones on.

Jason: Zero, a deputy walks over to you, rips your headphones out of your MP3 player and snaps them in two. "Show some respect," he says, shoving you into the center of the room.

Wetzel: "I saw something, a pen, it looked like. Is that what this is all about?"

Jason: The prince sighs and continues. "Indeed," he says. "That's the relic. Its psychic imprint is Anselme Pavel's. Now, as the four of you performed so well tonight, we are going to entreat you once more. We have devised a strategy. It seems that among Anselme's men, a few of his most high-ranking officers, if one could call them so, are devious Malkavians."

Zero: "Devious Malkavians? Isn't that an oxymoron?"

Jason: "You mean a redundancy?" a posh male harpy asks, snickering to his friends.

Zero: I crouch with my hands over my knees.

Jason: "They are his dark fingers, carrying out his most gruesome work. We have no doubt that they are responsible for the tragedies that have befallen our city these nights." The prince looks at you, Wetzel.
Jason: "Bastard Malkavian," he says, without hostility, only condescension, "we believe this is why he sent an envoy to you last night. He finds your kind... susceptible to his manipulation. No offense meant, of course."

Wetzel: "I understand ... I'm not exactly a practicing Malkavian. I don't know what there is that I know that you don't."

Zero: "Haha, practicing? You hear this guy?"
Zero: "It's not like you can just turn off the crazy, old man."

Jason: "If you all could find the three highest-ranking Malkavians tonight, they will lead us to Anselme," he says.

Zero: "There are only a few hours of night left, staying out any later could be dangerous."

***

Jason: Wetzel, something very sharp rings in your ears. It's the scream you've been hearing lately, in the distance, drilling its way into your mind.

***

Zero: "Also, some of us still need to feed."

Kang: "Wait, you don't know where Anselme is?"
Kang: "Isn't he in his tower?"

Jason: "The idea," the prince says angrily, "is not to storm into Anselme's sixty story tower, last Nosferatu. And as for you," he says to Zero, "spare us your constant babbling for just one moment, won't you?"

Kang: Kang will shrug.
Kang: SHRUG

Jason: The prince opens his mouth to speak again, but he stops himself and looks up, past you, into the hallway. You all hear it: a group of footsteps, marching in near-unison and drawing closer.

Richter: "Is there a reason you can't drink the blood the prince is offering, Zero?"

Zero: I begin biting my lip.
Zero: "I.... I prefer working for my meal."

Jason: Wetzel, the scream arises again, louder now, to announce the arrival of six men. There's a collective gasp among the room. Entourage in tow, Anselme Pavel is here.
Jason: Kang, you see the two men who were at your house last night, the small one and the large one, with him. Wetzel, there can be no mistake: that's the man you saw in the slaughterhouse.
Jason: The screams become deafening, Wetzel, you can't even hear what's happening in the room around.
Jason: "Hello, Prince Percival," Anselme says calmly.

Zero: "Haha, your name's Percy?"
Zero: "Haha.... Hehehehe."

Jason: "Anselme," the prince says. Then, a harpy drops her wine glass, it shatters on the floor, spilling its blood. She shouts: "He's a diablerist!"
Jason: "I should tell you, your guards are dead," Anselme says, approaching the throne. He passes by you four, and glares at Richter and Kang.
Jason: The prince turns to his sheriff and says: "Are we wrong, or is there to be no violence in a prince's Elysium?" The sheriff doesn't play along, however, and remains silent and alert.
Jason: "You will leave our city now, Anselme," he says. Around you all, the room is practically frozen. No one besides Anselme attempts to move.
Jason: "Will I, king behind the glass?" Anselme asks. He stares at the prince. "Open your chamber and let me in," he says. The prince swallows, goes numb, and obeys.
Jason: Lucy stands, putting her back to the side of the glass chamber. "Percy, what are you doing?" she asks. When Anselme is inside the chamber, he shuts the door behind him, and twenty more Kindred suddenly appear, scattered around the room.
Jason: The chaos begins, as instantly a dozen harpies' throats are slit and they fall limply to the floor. Then the deputies finally begin to act, and fighting begins all around you.
Jason: However, no one is coming after the four of you.

Kang: Hahaha
Kang: I don't really want to stick around for this!
Kang: I'll make a bee-line for the exit.

Jason: It's blocked by the original five Anselme entered with. The shorter, bearded one begins to sniff. "You..." he says. "You're the one I smelt!" He bares his fangs at bites in your direction, tauntingly.

Richter: I guess I wait to see how the chaos sorts itself out.

Jason: Wetzel, the screams continue, to the point of excruciating pain. You can barely act.

Wetzel: I clamp my hands over my ears and try to stop the screams.
Wetzel: I scream back to try to shut them up.

Jason: As the fighting continues, blood splatters on the walls. The banquet table is capsized, breaking dozens of glasses and bottles on the floor, scattering glass shards. In the head of the room, Lucy remains trembling and terrified as Anselme begins whispering to the prince.
Jason: "What are you doing!" she shouts, and Anselme twists his neck to her, catching her eyes. "Sit," he commands, and she blankly backs away to her throne.
Jason: Several deputies try stupidly to break the glass around the chamber, and no one can unlock the door.
Jason: Smiling at the room, Anselme raises his voice. He shouts: "Here is your prince! Here is the fate of your Masquerade!" then sinks his fangs into Percival's neck, and begins to draw out his blood.

Wetzel: !

Kang: Haha

Jason: Suddenly, the sheriff darts away from the fighting and runs to you four.
Jason: He grabs Zero and Wetzel by their shirts, and shouts at Kang and

Richter: "Come on!"

Zero: *is dragged away*

Jason: He's running to an auxiliary door, on the right of the throne.

Kang: I'll follow him.

Zero: "I follow as well."

Wetzel: I pump my legs enough to keep up, thinking of nothing but the screams.
Wetzel: In my distress I try to remember where I know it from.

Jason: He reaches the door, marked Security Exit, and kicks it open. He throws Zero and Wetzel inside of it, holds it open and raises his arm to allow Kang through. A few of Anselme's men run after them, but he is able to keep them at bay, punching and swatting them to the side. "You, the Ventrue!" he shouts at Richter.

Richter: I follow him.

Wetzel: I hit myself in the head with the heel of my palm repeatedly.

Zero: "Should we bother helping him?"

Jason: The four of you enter the door, which he then locks behind him. He stares at you four, taking a moment before saying anything. Inside the room is a staircase leading up, and a panel of security monitors. You can watch the carnage of the Elysium from any different angle, watch as Anselme gains the advantage, as the numbers overpower, and as he diablerizes the prince.
Jason: "No," the sheriff says bluntly.
Jason: There are a few scattered cameras that aren't pointed at the court. Other rooms of the building have a camera each, and additionally, there's one on the doorway. There: you see him. Kang, Zero, Wetzel (if you can bear to look), is a man fitting the description Abigail gave you. The man from the second floor.

Kang: "We should probably leave the city."

Jason: Richter: it's Malik. Standing guard, looking comically nonchalant.
Jason: "No," the sheriff says. "The prince may be lost, but this city is not. The plan to get the Malkavians will work!" he insists.

Zero: "This is my city, I plan on taking it back."

Jason: "Anselme must have a weakness," he says, scanning the panel of monitors.

***

Jason: Perception + Occult, difficulty eight.

Wetzel: [7, 2, 4]

Jason: You still can't place the scream. It's beginning to drive you quite mad...

***

Wetzel: "STOOOOOOOOOOOOP"

Kang: "He seems pretty unstoppable to me."

Zero: "We never actually had the opportunity to hear the plan, considering the raid and all."

Jason: Wetzel, the sheriff reels back and punches you square in the jaw.
Jason: You take one point of damage, but the voices do begin to dissipate.
Jason: "First of all," the sheriff says, "spill it out, all of you. Tell me absolutely anything you may know about the Malkavians serving under him."

Richter: "Well one can use obfuscate and killed the former mayor of this city."
Richter: "Anselme wants to take over the whole city."
Richter: "They're his enforcers. That's really all I know,"

Kang: "One of the people that attacked my home was probably a Malkavian."

Jason: "One of them was the one that killed Rucklin?" he asks. He rubs his forehead, desperately thinking. "All right, all right..."
Jason: "Lucy said one of them was torturing her." Kang, you remember that as the one that burned your house. "That's the easiest one for her to track since they got so close. She said she can see him heading back to the place where she was being held."
Jason: The sheriff continues to think...
Jason: Richter, roll Wits + Politics, difficulty six.

dicebot: Richter rolled 6#d10 --> [ 1d10=6 ]{6}, [ 1d10=10 ]{10}, [ 1d10=6 ]{6}, [ 1d10=4 ]{4}, [ 1d10=3 ]{3}, [ 1d10=2 ]{2}

Jason: This may come as a shock to you, but the Malkavian that I just told you you saw on the security monitor is... a Malkavian.

Wetzel: WTF

Kang: holy shit ...

Richter: Nice 3 successes!
Richter: Whoah!
Richter: That's pretty startling.

Jason: Maybe you should point him out...

Richter: "The man on the security monitor is a Malkavian."
Richter: I point him out.

Jason: The sheriff looks, intensely. "That's the one that killed Rucklin?!"

Richter: "Yes."

Jason: "All right. That's number two, then." He sits at the chair at the monitor bank. "The third Malkavian... that's the hardest one. Lucy said she couldn't get any kind of read on him."
Jason: "I have a theory," he says, and reaches into a drawer in the security desk. He pulls out a messenger bag, you can see that it's filled with about six blood packs. "You," he says to Kang. "You said you found one of Anselme's men in the sewer. I'm willing to bet that being in torpor and subterranean is why Lucy can't spot him."
Jason: Then the sheriff suddenly to turns to Wetzel.
Jason: "Those other two are going to put up a fight, and I don't think you could take it. However, this is going to be an interrogation. I need another lunatic that can speak this one's language." He hands you the messenger bag. "He's going to frenzy when he first wakes up. Make sure he's restrained, and let him have these."
Jason: "Then, find out everything you can."
Jason: "Are we clear? You four can decide for yourselves who goes where. I need to get back in there," he says, nodding to the Elysium. "Those stairs will take you to the roof."

Kang: "It's a shame you didn't grab this guy when you staked and kidnapped me."
Kang: SIGH
Kang: Let's head out

Wetzel: I take the packs with some aversion.

Zero: I head towards the roof.

Kang: Yes, I'll do the same.
Kang: When everybody is ready, I'll lead them to the incapacitated Malkavian.

Zero: "So when we interrogate this guy, can we torture him?"

Jason: Bear in mind, you know where the other two are. One is standing outside, one went back to the warehouse. You don't know how long they'll be there.
Jason: You may not all want to go find one incapacitated one.

Zero: "We should probably split up."

Richter: "Yeah we need to take them all out."
Richter: I guess I go after the one who killed Rucklin.

Kang: You're right

Zero: "I'll go with Richy."

Kang: How about I lead Wetzel to the one in the sewer

Zero: "I hope you guys torture him!"

Wetzel: "I can't help with these two, but I'll do what I can on the one in torpor."

Jason: Anyway, the four of you reach the roof. There's over eight inches of snow upon it, which is still falling. There's a fire escape down, and if you look over the front ledge, you can see the bald Malkavian Malik standing guard. The car the prince gave you is still parked outside. The sounds of fighting emanate still from within.

Kang: Heh
Kang: I suppose we should take care of Malik before we split up

Wetzel: "Draw me a map to the sewer. I'm not going to fight."

Zero: I'm tempted to jump off the building onto Malik.
Zero: I haven't had much luck jumping off of things though.

Wetzel: Falls can kill vampires!

Kang: It was a pretty isolated and hidden spot
Kang: Would Wetzel remember verbal instructions on how to get there?

Jason: I'll run down what you all mostly know:
Jason: Malik, Malkavian One, killed Nauset's former Mayor, Jeremiah Rucklin. Richter had some contact with him which confirmed his clan. He is the one you saw on the second floor, that burned the Tremere chantry. He's standing below you.
Jason: Malkavian Two is the one who killed the Nosferatu and burned Kang's house. He tortured Lucy and escaped during the fight. He's back at the warehouse for some reason now.
Jason: Malkavian Three is mutilated and bound in torpor down in the sewers. Kang knows his whereabouts but can tell someone else directions and they can find him, eventually. He needs to be woken up with blood.

And so, Richter decides to go after Malik, Kang and Zero head to the warehouse, and Wetzel follows Kang's instructions to the spot in the sewer. They agree to meet at Kang's mansion when finished.

Post     Re: Vampire: The Brink

Jason: You, Richter, Kang and Zero stand in the snow on the roof of the Elysium. An icy fire escape is the only way down, the stair access door locked behind you. You have a messenger bag of several liters of blood, and Kang's given you a hasty layout of the sewer system near the city limits, directing you to where the third Malkavian is being held, then to his mansion which you've all decided to use as a safehouse.

Wetzel: I thank Kang and cautiously descend the fire escape.

Jason: Roll Dexterity + Athletics, difficulty five to make it safely down the escape.

***Wetzel rolls 3+0: 6 1 5

Jason: You land into a bank of snow, on your knees. It's a rough landing, but you're safe. You remember that the first Malkavian, Malik, is still on guard around the front of the building, it would be best not to draw his attention.

Wetzel: If it's possible to avoid him, I do so.
Wetzel: I head around the building, assuming I can.

Jason: I'm sorry, you landed in alley behind the building. There are fences to your left and right, but if you can make it past them you can exit out onto the other side of the street, avoiding Malik altogether.
Jason: Or you could try to slip by Malik by going around the building and onto his side of the street, by being stealthy.

Wetzel: I shoulda bought Unseen Presence!

Jason: Cloak of Shadows is nothing to sneeze at.

Wetzel: I try to hop the fence.

Jason: The fence to your left has a dumpster beside it, you could use it for a boost. Dexterity + Athletics, difficulty six to get over the fence.

***Wetzel rolls 3+0: 3 3 7

Jason: Once again, you're able to sustain the landing, but your knees are a little sore. You make your way to the street, where a few scattered people walk by, shivering in the cold. The chill reminds you of home, of northern, country snowfall.
Jason: You'll have to figure out a way into the sewers.

Wetzel: I prowl the alleyways, searching for a manhole cover I can lift.

Jason: Wits + Survival, five.

***Wetzel rolls 2+1: 6 8 7

Jason: It occurs to you that manholes are bolted shut. You wouldn't be able to open them manually.
Jason: The best way to find an access point would probably be the subway.

Wetzel: I try to remember where the nearest subway entrance is.
Wetzel: If I can remember, I walk there quickly, keeping in mind that I don't have all night.

Jason: As the distance between you and the Elysium grows, your head becomes increasingly clear. You can no longer hear the screams, but the memory of them persists. Finally, you reach the biggest station in uptown Nauset and climb down the grungy, wet staircase.
Jason: Perception + Animal Ken, difficulty six.

***Wetzel rolls 3+3: 7 4 9 8 3 5

Jason: Amid the unpleasant odors of a dank subway station, you do manage to catch a familiar scent in the air, past the toll booth and down the platform to your right.

Wetzel: I examine that area.

Jason: Walking past the platform of Nauset's late nighters, you come to a sleeping homeless man, clad in wet rags, a old beans tin of change and wet cardboard sign. Beside him, however, is a familiar dog, with a familiar discarded leash. He notices you as you approach, and reacts with hesitation.

Wetzel: "Sigmund."
Wetzel: I say it partly to see if he knows the name I gave him, partly as an expression of the act of remembering.
Wetzel: The memories the dog forces on me are bad. Losing control always leaves an awful taste in my mouth.

Jason: The homeless man jostles in his sleep but doesn't wake. The dog makes eye contact with you. His fur is wet and tangled. You can tell he came down here in a desperate attempt to avoid the snow, and was taken in by the bum to help him seem sympathetic in exchange for a bed of rags to sleep on.

Wetzel: I only took care of him for an hour or two. It's no surprise the dog doesn't remember me.
Wetzel: Taking him with me would be a dumb idea. He's happy here, I've got work to do.
Wetzel: I couldn't protect him if I got caught up in something. The way things are going I don't guess I could even protect myself.
Wetzel: Who knows what could happen even if I pet him. There are probably people in this world who could smell my scent on him.
Wetzel: I decide to let sleeping dogs lie, so to speak, but I look him in the eye and leave him with a thought using Feral Whispers.
Wetzel: "Hey, pal."
Wetzel: We'll probably never see each other again, but even a dog knows what it means to have a friend in the world.

Jason: He yips in response, and sits obediently for you.

Wetzel: I pat my pockets but of course there's nothing that could be called food there.
Wetzel: Too bad.
Wetzel: I think about how little time I have and head for the platform.

Jason: You try to walk away, but don't get more than a few paces before you hear his leash dragging on the floor and feel him bite your pant leg.
Jason: He does not find your hour together easily dismissed.

Wetzel: Stupid dog.
Wetzel: I undo his leash and cram it in my pocket.
Wetzel: "Your funeral."
Wetzel: He won't want to go where I'm going anyway. No harm done.
Wetzel: I continue toward the subway platform with Sigmund behind me.

Jason: You stand on the platform, overlooking the train tracks. Sigmund reverently twists and turns himself against your ankles. It's a two way station, one track heading east, the other west, with a very narrow segment between them. Trash, old newspaper and rats paint the floor.
Jason: Sigmund suddenly yips again, and points his nose at a spot on the tracks.
Jason: Perception + Alertness, six.

***Wetzel rolls 3+1: 6 10 6 1

Jason: The shadows are unmistakably moving.

Wetzel: I use Heightened Senses and concentrate on the shadows.

Jason: Perception + Survival, six.

***Wetzel rolls 3+1: 3 2 8 4

Jason: Two shadows, moving west. Unfortunately, you can't tell any more because a subway train approaches rapidly on your side of the track, and keeping Heightened Senses up when it gets here will deafen you.

Wetzel: I wait for the train to leave so I can hop down.
Wetzel: It looks like I'd better go west. I don't like the thought of whatever that was, but it seems worse not to know.
Wetzel: Maybe they were Nosferatu. Would that even matter?

Jason: The platform clears when the train is gone and you hop down without anyone noticing. Sigmund follows. You can no longer see the movement of the shadows, but you do know enough to realize that if you follow this track you'll eventually find an entrance to the sewer and can begin navigating your way to the Malkavian.

Wetzel: I decide to pick up Sigmund and carry him, since I don't want him getting cut in half.
Wetzel: I push forward using Heightened Senses - you can never be too careful in the dark.

Jason: All right, extended Wits + Survival roll, difficulty seven, to safely work your way through the tracks. Ten successes needed.
Jason: First roll.

***Wetzel rolls 2+1: 3 2 5

Jason: You don't get very far before a train comes down the opposite track, forcing you to drop Heightened Senses and shut your eyes until it passes.
Jason: Roll again.

***Wetzel rolls 2+1: 9 5 10

Jason: Once the tracks are clear, you begin to make significant headway, avoiding the rats and garbage as you gracefully keep your footing. You're between stations now, the tunnel is lit be series of dim orange lights.
Jason: Roll again.

***Wetzel rolls 2+1: 3 6 7

Jason: Your process continues. Still no sign of shadow movement, but at least there are no subway cars nipping at your heels.
Jason: Roll again.

***Wetzel rolls 2+1: 7 5 4

Jason: The smell of Sigmund's wet, dirty fur begins to seep into your clothes. You make it to the next station, and while the illumination in your path is almost a relief, there are people on the platform and you halt momentarily to decide how to stay out of sight.

Wetzel: Are they on both sides?

Jason: Yes, but you probably don't have to worry about the people on the far side noticing you.

Wetzel: Would a stopped train between the near side and me solve the problem?

Jason: It's a dangerous proposition to avoid the train, and it puts you closer to the people on the far side.

Wetzel: I could just run past. Perhaps they wouldn't believe their eyes.
Wetzel: I could have Sigmund distract people for me, but then they'd see him jump down onto the tracks.
Wetzel: Hmm ...
Wetzel: It occurs to me that I could tell Sigmund to go back to my place and bark for me to distract the people, but there are so many ways that could go wrong.

Jason: Wits + Stealth, difficulty eight.

***Wetzel rolls 2+0: 9 7
Jason: There might be a simple way to slip under the view of the people on the platform...

Wetzel: Perhaps I could crouch near the wall so that I'd be ought of sight of those near me and all but invisible to those far away.
Wetzel: I attempt that.

Jason: Dexterity + Stealth, five.

***Wetzel rolls 3+0: 4 8 10

Jason: You make it past, but not without a few people noticing you in the corner of their eyes. It wouldn't be a good idea to head back.
Jason: All right, continue your Wits + Survival roll.

***Wetzel rolls 2+1: 8 4 8

Jason: You're making good time past the station, and suddenly, you notice another shadowy movement about ten yards ahead of you.
Jason: Roll again.

***Wetzel rolls 2+1: 7 5 10

Jason: The shadows are beginning to dissolve. Two men of slightly above average build are consulting a piece of notebook paper like tourists with a map, as they work their way down the tracks, like you.
Jason: Roll again.

***Wetzel rolls 2+1: 9 2 10

Jason: You finally reach a small inlet in the tunnel. A door, clearly marked as an entrance to sewer, and safely unnoticed by the men.

Wetzel: Finding a dark spot near the door, I use Cloak Of Shadows to conceal myself and spy on the two using Heightened Senses.

Jason: "This is horse shit," you hear one say. "How much longer are we going search for a half-dead needle in a fucking shit-drenched hay stack?"
Jason: "Gotta be near here," the other replies stupidly.

Wetzel: Can I see anything distinctive about either of them?

Jason: Just two angry, black haired men. They almost look similar enough to be related.

Wetzel: Moving slowly so as not to appear conspicuous, I hold Sigmund in front of my face so I'm looking at his eyes.
Wetzel: I want to use Feral Whispers to command him to be quiet.

Jason: Manipulation + Animal Ken, difficulty four.

***Wetzel rolls 2+3: 6 10 8 2 9

Jason: Sigmund doesn't make a sound.

Wetzel: With Sigmund quiet, I step forward toward the door.
Wetzel: I open it, step through, and let it shut.

Jason: Roll Perception, six.

***Wetzel rolls 3: 8 5 10

Jason: Your Heightened Senses let you know that the two men were not oblivious to the door's closing.

Wetzel: I search for some way to lock or barricade the door.

Jason: You look around you and see that the current inlet goes for about four feet of concrete before a drop to the sewer floor of stone and a wet stream of sewage. There's nothing around you, unfortunately.

Wetzel: Is there a way I can climb down? How far is the drop?

Jason: Only about four feet. You can make it safely, but the splash is going to be unpleasant.

Wetzel: At least it's just shit.
Wetzel: I set down Sigmund and lower myself down, facing the door I just came through.
Wetzel: With my palms on the ledge I touch ground with my feet.

Jason: You both stand in the snow on the roof of the Elysium. Wetzel has gone to find the third Malkavian in the sewer, while Richter looms over the ledge to get a better look at the first. An icy fire escape is the only way down, the stair access door locked behind you. You both are to get to the warehouse, where the Malkavian who killed the Nosferatu and tortured Lucy is. The car is yours to take, however it's in the direct view of the Malkavian standing guard.

Zero: "You sneaking pass him shouldn't be too much trouble."

Kang: Hmmm

Zero: "I was thinking you could sneak pass him, start the car, and I could just make a mad dash for the vehicle....
Zero: "That plan in insane though, you have anything more sensible?"

Kang: This is a separate Malkavian from the one Richter is after, right?

Jason: No, that's the one Richter is handling.

Zero: I thought it was the same one...

Jason: But FOR SOME REASON, you guys are going FIRST.

Zero: Fuck.

Kang: This doesn't make any sense ...

Zero: Richter is making this difficult!

Kang: Sigh
Kang: "Can you hotwire a car?"

Zero: "Its our car, we have the keys."

Kang: "I ... understand that."

Zero: "What are you suggesting?"
Zero: "I mean, just because I'm black doesn't mean hotwiring's my thing.... Even though I can do it."

Kang: "That there is more than one automobile on planet earth."
Kang: "And that we don't necessarily have to use the one in plain view of the guard."

Zero: "Oh, I don't know how to drive a car though."
Zero: "I usually take the subway."
Zero: "I could start it, you can drive it. Sound fair?"

Kang: Sure.
Kang: Oh
Kang: Anyway, can we get down the fire escape without the Malkavian seeing us?

Jason: Yes, it would lower you to a back alley, where you'll have to get over a fence to reach the other side of the street.

Zero: "You could disappear into the shadows, I'm fairly certain I could sneak past him."

Kang: "Okay, let's get down the fire escape and away from the building and then find and hotwire a car."
Kang: "That sound alright?"

Zero: "Let's do it, man."

Kang: "Alright."
Kang: We'll do that, Jason

Zero: *carefully heads down the fire escape around back*

Jason: Who's going down first?

Kang: I will
Kang: I'll use unseen presence

Jason: All right, Dexterity + Athletics, difficulty five.

Kang: Man
Kang: I should have brought some gloves!

Zero: You gonna fall and burst your head open, dawg!

Kang: Okay

dicebot: Kang rolled 3#d10 --> [ 1d10=8 ]{8}, [ 1d10=8 ]{8}, [ 1d10=7 ]{7}

Jason: You land safely, in a huddled crouch.
Jason: Now you, same roll, Zero.

Zero: Okay.

***Zero rolls a d10 5 times: 5, 5, 2, 2, 7, total: 21

Jason: You land precisely the same way.

Zero: *falls into a trashcans and gets rabies from a raccoon*

Kang: Yeah!

Jason: Looking around, you see a fence to your left with a dumpster beside it that you can use to get over it. Fresh footprints lead that way, presumably from Wetzel.

Zero: "If the old man can make it over, so can we. Let's go."

Kang: Okay, I'll use the dumpster to climb over the fence.

Jason: Dex + Athletics, six.

Kang: Man, I refuse to fucking fail on this roll
Kang: I'll burn two blood points
Kang: And raise my dex to 5

Jason: Haha, OK.

dicebot: Kang rolled 5#d10 --> [ 1d10=9 ]{9}, [ 1d10=1 ]{1}, [ 1d10=5 ]{5}, [ 1d10=10 ]{10}, [ 1d10=9 ]{9}

Zero: You should have more confidence in yourself!

Jason: You make the jump and land a little awkwardly on your knees.

Zero: I follow Kang's lead.

***Zero rolls a d10 5 times: 6, 10, 5, 4, 9, total: 34

Zero: I'm assuming the roll difficulty is the same...

Jason: Yes. You do SLIGHTLY BETTER than KANG.

Kang: fuck
Kang: Okay, are there any cars around?
Kang: Older ones?

Jason: You're both facing a snowy street, a few random passerby but it's mostly open road. To your right, away from the Malkavian, is a pretty nice white car. This is the heart of Uptown Nauset, so you're only going to find pretty expensive cars for the most part.

Kang: How far is the warehouse from us by the way?

Jason: The warehouse is downtown, it'll be about a forty minute drive.

Kang: Hehe

Zero: "Bear with me, I haven't done this in awhile."

Kang: "Want to grab that car or head a block or two away so he definitely won't be able to hear us?"

Zero: "Yeah, it's best if we do that. Also, I'd rather not swipe something out in the open like this."

Kang: "Okay."
Kang: We'll head a block or two away and look for a car in a less open area, Jason.
Kang: We understand that we're pressed for time, so we'll hurry!

Jason: All right, roll Perception + Streetwise, Zero, difficulty six. Also, you're Hurt, so subtract a die from all rolls. I'll try to remember to tell you.

Kang: "Heal yourself!"

Zero: "I... I can't."
Zero: "My vitae level is extremely poor. Don't worry, I'll be fine."

***Zero rolls a d10 6 times: 4, 7, 9, 5, 2, 9, total: 36

Zero: "I'm saving my remaining strength, in case a fight ensues."

Jason: All right, after about ten minutes searching, you find a car on an empty road. No one's around.

Kang: "You're the thug. I'll let you take care of breaking in."

Zero: "I'm not a thug! I'm a drug dealer, much more classy, man."
Zero: I'll begin stealing the car.

Jason: OK, Wits + Security, difficulty eight.
Jason: Minus a die.

Zero: k...kck

***Zero rolls a d10 2 times: 6, 8, total: 14

Zero: "Just like riding a bike, eh?"

Jason: You break the driver's side window with your elbow and the alarm sounds. You HAIRPIN the lock and get it running, silencing the alarm, but you should probably leave, now.

Kang: Okay
Kang: I'll drive us to the warehouse

Zero: I'm in the passenger seat.
Zero: That is a very powerful hairpin, by the way.
Zero: I'm sure it'll be used to deactivate a nuke at some point.

Jason: Kang, you take off driving in the snow, carefully avoiding the street of the Elysium and make your way to the warehouse.
Jason: Roll Perception + Alertness, difficulty seven.

dicebot: Kang rolled 7#d10 --> [ 1d10=7 ]{7}, [ 1d10=7 ]{7}, [ 1d10=8 ]{8}, [ 1d10=1 ]{1}, [ 1d10=1 ]{1}, [ 1d10=1 ]{1}, [ 1d10=4 ]{4}

Kang: Holy fucking shit

Zero: Nice roll, asshole
Zero: Now we're going to crash into a pole and die.

Jason: Zero, roll it too, difficulty eight.
Jason: Minus one die.

Zero: Fuck

Kang: At least you can roll

***Zero rolls a d10 4 times: 8, 1, 9, 8, total: 26

Kang: CHRIST ON A CROSS

Jason: Well, while Kang stupidly concentrates on navigating through the heavy snowfall, Zero happens to catch the rearview and see the very car that you guys were driving before, tailing you.

Zero: "Dude, why is our car following us?"
Zero: "Also, it'd help if you turned on the windshield wipers."

Kang: I sigh.
Kang: "I guess I could try to lose it."

Jason: Wits + Drive, difficulty nine.

Zero: "Be careful, remember what happened last time we were tailed..."

Kang: How many willpower points do I have left?
Kang: Two or three?

Jason: Three.

Kang: Hey, I'll use a willpower point on this roll

dicebot: Kang rolled 4#d10 --> [ 1d10=1 ]{1}, [ 1d10=8 ]{8}, [ 1d10=10 ]{10}, [ 1d10=8 ]{8}

Jason: Through a series of counter-intuitive turns that end up costing you a significant amount of time, you do manage to shake the car.
Jason: Finally, you arrive at the warehouse.

Zero: "I honestly wish I never became a vampire sometimes."

Jason: You stand in the snow on the roof of the Elysium. Wetzel has gone to find the third Malkavian in the sewer, while Kang and Zero have left to find the one in the warehouse. Malik stands in front of the building. An icy fire escape is the only way down, the stair access door locked behind you.

Richter: Can I ask about how difficult something would be?

Jason: Sure.

Richter: Or is that too metagamey.

Jason: No, it's just your character evaluating risk.

Richter: If I tried to jump off the roof onto Malik what would my chance of success be.
Richter: Of actually landing on him and maybe not killing myself in the process.

Jason: I'd say that unless you really botched, he'd take equal or more damage to you.

Richter: How about landing on him?

Jason: I'd give the difficulty as eight, considering you're not that athletic.
Richter: Would that be a dex+athletics roll?
Jason: Yeah.

Richter: Gosh I wish I hadn't blown all of my blood because of botches.
Richter: Otherwise I'd probably be totally willing to do that.
Richter: Hmmm
Richter: Alright would trying to hold my sword so it impales him on the way down, would that be a multi action, or would it improve the difficulty in anyway?

Jason: It would turn into Dexterity + Melee, difficulty ten.

Richter: Well
Richter: I'll expend a blood point to increase my dex by one.
Richter: And I'll use my last willpower point for an automatic success.
Richter: And I'll do that with my sword.

Jason: All right, Dexterity + Melee, difficulty ten.
Jason: One auto success.

dicebot: Richter rolled 6#d10 --> [ 1d10=2 ]{2}, [ 1d10=1 ]{1}, [ 1d10=7 ]{7}, [ 1d10=7 ]{7}, [ 1d10=6 ]{6}, [ 1d10=9 ]{9}

Richter: Well that was actually a decent roll.
Richter: Too bad it was difficulty 10.
Richter: Ugh.

Jason: Your sword misses, but you do manage to fall on him. You end up hitting his leg with your chest, then crumpling to your side as he falls and cradles his leg, screaming in pain. You notice a few people on the street saw you and a few reach for their cell phones.
Jason: You take two levels of lethal damage.

Richter: I'm assuming combat has started?

Jason: It depends on your next action.

Richter: He's grabbing his leg in pain?

Jason: Yes, it's visibly broken.

Richter: I'm going to use awe.

Jason: Charisma + Performance, difficulty seven, minus one die.

Richter: Oh gosh I should've have healed one level of damage first.
Richter: Well

dicebot: Richter rolled 3#d10 --> [ 1d10=4 ]{4}, [ 1d10=5 ]{5}, [ 1d10=10 ]{10}

Richter: Yeah!
Richter: I really need to set my character up to do as few rolls as possible.
Richter: Or just never take actions and only talk.
Richter: Jesus I roll terribly.
Richter: Anyway I suppose I'll heal one level of damage to get rid of the penalty.

Jason: Malik, curled up in a fetal position, heals his leg. You watch the bone seam itself back into place. Then he spins around to look at you, his face displaying curiosity and newfound attraction.

Richter: Oh wow nice.
Richter: I'll look him directly him the eye and use mesmerize.

Jason: Healing yourself will take the entire turn though.

Richter: It will
Richter: I'll just use mesmerize then.

Jason: Oh, all right.

Richter: I say.
Richter: "You will come with me and answer all of my questions and do no harm to myself or my friends."

Jason: Manipulation + Leadership, difficulty four, minus one die.

dicebot: Richter rolled 6#d10 --> [ 1d10=1 ]{1}, [ 1d10=5 ]{5}, [ 1d10=6 ]{6}, [ 1d10=8 ]{8}, [ 1d10=9 ]{9}, [ 1d10=4 ]{4}

Jason: Malik stands, stumbling at first as he gets to his feet, but sturdily thereafter and says, "Yes, sir."

Richter: Alright I get up and begin leaving, I assume Malik is following me.

Jason: He will, yes.

Richter: I get out of the area as quickly as possible and try to find a cab.

Jason: You round the corner and flag one down with little difficulty. You enter the backseat and Malik follows you in, silently. The driver asks "Where to, boss?"

Richter: I also put my sword back in my cane and all that shit.
Richter: Anything necessary to cover up something it wrong.
Richter: But anyway.
Richter: I tell the cab driver to take us to the address of Kang's mansion.

Jason: It's a long, fifty minute drive, and the snow continues to fall without pause. Finally, you reach Kang's mansion and the fare is ninety dollars.

Richter: I pay and tip the driver well, and then head into the mansion.

Jason: The gate is closed, but unlocked, and you and Malik walk up the long driveway and flight of stone steps to the massive, three story mansion. It still looks relatively well, if foreboding, from the outside, and the first floor is burnt, ashen, thirty piles of dust decorate the floor of the den, occasionally being blown by the wind.

Richter: I try to find a safe spot in the mansion to wait until Kang, Wetzel and Zero arrive.

Jason: You walk Malik into the dining room, unscathed by the fire for the most part, and wait.
Jason: An hour passes, with no activity.

Richter: I guess I'll question Malik some.
Richter: I ask him.
Richter: "Why does Anselme need you and the other 2 Malkavians?"

Jason: "Anselme needs me for the revolution," he says, happy to be of service to you. "What other two Malkavians?"

Richter: "I was told there were 3 Malkavian lieutenants in service of Anselme, as we speak my friends are retrieving the other two, who are they and why does Anselme need you for the revolution?"

Jason: Malik scratches his bald head, legitimately lost in thought. "He needed me to kill the Mayor. He needed me to kill the Tremeres. He says he needs me because I'm important."
Jason: "There's... a buncha Malkavians working for us. Buncha Ventrue, buncha Toreadors, buncha Brujah and Gangries. And s'more."

Richter: "Why did Anselme need the mayor and all of the Tremere killed?"

Jason: "Because he wants to be Mayor," he says, glad to have some more concrete answers for you. "And the Tremeres were mean to him."

Richter: "How were the Tremere mean to him?"

Jason: "He asked 'em to join the revolution and they said no!"
Jason: "They're stupid."

Richter: "What is the revolution?"

Jason: "The revolution is Mr. Anselme becoming prince and then becoming mayor. After that, he's gonna put Kindred everywhere! Everywhere! He says that we'll be ... in... ex... tric... able... from human society, so that we can stop hiding because... they'll need us. 'Cause they can't live without us."

Richter: "If his goal is to help kindred, then why is he killing any kindred with a different opinion than him?"

Jason: "He says we gotta. Says anybody who tries to stop us has to die."

Richter: "Why did Anselme approach me?"

Jason: "He says you're the best of the best. The man who can do all the white work. I can tell he's right, you're great!"

Richter: "Why did Anselme kill the Nosferatu?"

Jason: "He says the Nosferatu would keep people from accepting us, when the time's right. He says they're too ugly and repulsive, so they all gotta die first."

Richter: "Why did Anselme kidnap the Prince's Seneschal?"

Jason: "She deserved it! She went and spied on him!" he says angrily.

Richter: "What was the item she was trying to take from Anselme?"

Jason: He slowly shrugs.

Richter: "How was Anselme so easily able to bypass the Prince's defenses and diablerize the prince?"

Jason: "Mr. Anselme is strong! His blood is super thick, too! I've never seen anybody even hurt him!"

Richter: Has anyone shown up yet, Jason?

Jason: No, but suddenly, your phone rings.

Kang: "I want to approach the warehouse with some degree of stealth and caution, but I don't think we the time."
Kang: "Let's hurry."

Zero: "We don't."

Kang: I'll jump out of the car

Zero: I run off after Kang, leaving my door open.

Jason: The warehouse is still, seemingly as you left it, from the front anyway. The door is closed.

Kang: Hmm

Zero: "Let's head through the way we came before. I doubt they had time to fix it."

Kang: "Yes, of course."
Kang: I'll enter into the warehouse with unseen presence on.

Zero: "I'll sneak behind Kang."

Jason: Zero, Wits + Stealth, difficulty seven.
Jason: Minus a die.

Kang: Actually
Kang: Let me go in first
Kang: I'll come back out and tell you what's inside.

Zero: "Okay, go for it. Don't go in too far though."

Jason: There are a few maintenance signs in the sewer to let workers know under which streets they're standing. It'll be about a twenty minute walk from here to the spot Kang told you about.

Wetzel: I grab Sigmund off the ledge, pledging with the royal "we" not to drop him.
Wetzel: This sucks. I wish I could decide which senses to Heighten.
Wetzel: I head off according to the directions.

Jason: Trudging through the streaming shit, you get about ten feet and hear the door you came through open behind you.

Wetzel: They must be heading where I'm headed.
Wetzel: I try to think of a way to divert them.
Wetzel: Are the signs something I could destroy or hide?

Jason: Unfortunately, no, they're dead bolted into the wall. But... there might be a less hygienic way to conceal them.

Wetzel: I hurry out of sight and set myself to work.
Wetzel: Throwing Sigmund over my left shoulder like a human baby, I use my right to smear waste on each sign I pass.
Wetzel: I move as quickly as I can, knowing they're behind me, confused though they may be.
Wetzel: In case they figure out that the dirty signs manifest a trail, I occasionally take wrong turns and backtrack.

Jason: Wits + Survival, difficulty eight.

***Wetzel rolls 2+1: 2 3 5

Jason: Delayed by your backtracking, you reach Kang's spot within the better part of an hour, but you can still hear the footsteps, they still inch closer. However, you turn a corner and find a small. square room, segmented from the sewer. A few unfolded cardboard boxes are there functioning as makeshift beds.
Jason: On one end of the room is a man, tied up with rope, unconscious, whose legs have been grotesquely removed, leaving black, bloody stumps. On the other end is the deputy you recall was sent here earlier tonight, to watch over him, looking immensely bored and inattentive.

Wetzel: I approach the deputy and present myself.
Wetzel: "Deputy, my name is Wetzel. I was sent by the prince to interrogate a Malkavian in this area. Is this him?"

Jason: "Is this guy a Malkavian?" he asks with a touch of curious novelty in his voice. He's probably never met one. "Wait, aren't you a Malkavian too?"

Wetzel: "I believe I've been followed by two men. They'll find us within a few minutes at most. Unless you can obscure yourself and this prisoner, we need to move to a different location."

Jason: He scrunches his face up inquisitively. "What do you mean, two men?"

Wetzel: "Large men, similar looking, black hair. Are you expecting someone?"

Jason: "Are they with Pavel, you think?"

Wetzel: "They could be. They said they were looking for a corpse."
Wetzel: "That's all I know."

Jason: The deputy rubs his forehead, trying to piece all this information together. "Hm," he says. "Did the sheriff say I'm relieved?"

Wetzel: "No, I don't think they have any men to spare right now."
Wetzel: "You're here to defend this corpse, right? I think you may have to."

Jason: "You mean, from those two guys?" he asks.

Wetzel: "Yes."
Wetzel: I turn away from the deputy and wipe my hand off on the wall. I set Sigmund down on the ground and look at his eyes.
Wetzel: I point to the corner and command him using Feral Whispers: "Stay put."

Jason: "So, what are you and the dog here to do?"

Wetzel: "Deputy," I say, stepping back into the shadows to better conceal myself.
Wetzel: "A war has begun while you've been down here. Your prince may be dead."
Wetzel: I stand in front of the corpse to hide it behind myself.
Wetzel: "Quiet for one moment."
Wetzel: I use Heightened Senses to listen for the two men approaching.

Jason: You can hear them arguing, but steadfastly drawing nearer. Can't be more than thirty feet away.

Wetzel: "Deputy, get ready to help me subdue these two, but don't kill them."
Wetzel: I obscure myself using Cloak Of Shadows and wait.

Jason: "Wait. What about here?" says a voice. You can hear sniffing then: "Smells like death," and the footsteps get closer and closer, while the deputy continues to look confused.

Wetzel: I wait.

Jason: "What do you mean, the prince may be dead?" he asks, but before you can answer, the two men round the corner and walk into him. He's at least four inches taller both of them. "Are you with Pavel?" he asks them.
Jason: "Oh Hell," one says. Then the deputy makes a fist, rears back, and literally punches his head off.

Wetzel: The word "HEY!" is caught in my throat, unable to be spoken. My eyes don't completely understand what they've seen.
Wetzel: I try again and it comes out. I break my cover.
