Q. Has FTU ever introduced you to anything you like? This is probably a dumb question but the chat SPARKED my interest. The answer is probably something like Persona 3.

Q. Why do you like FTU? Do you even like it? You like antagonizing Chris, I gather that, and you seem to enjoy discussions pertaining to your interests. But is there anything else?

I guess I asked these questions because this tournament has shown that you really don't like anything that FTU likes, and you seem to hold FTUers in poor regard based on their interests.

I might ask more if these get answered.

1. Despite my HIGH STANDARDS OF QUALITY, I really am open to give anything a chance, so I never need a bunch of guys jamming things down my throat like lots of other people seem to. Actually, I heard about Persona 3 through /v/, but some stuff that I love that I first heard from FTU is The Office and I'm Alan Partridge (MADali recommended these in 2004), Arrested Development (Peter acts like he had to struggle to make me see this but I was just waiting for a torrent), and a bunch of movies from my recommendation thread last winter (Once, for instance). These are all solitary recommendations, though, so I struggle to think of anything that became a real FTU thing that I either picked up from the board or ended up liking.

2. I don't think this is too hard to decipher. I like the board and think most people here are pretty funny. I disagree with a lot of your opinions, but whatever. I think we all understand that, even amongst the Internet, FTU in particular is a place to act outlandishly and whimsically, which is really the basis for my board persona with which I can sucker punch Chris at my leisure. In fact, here's a secret: I consider my flamewar with Chris a parody of the Chris and Theldorrin antics in 2003. Lots of times when I'm writing up a post, I try to satirize how Theldorrin used to hound him.

I think it's clear that since I am currently unemployed and patiently waiting to actually do the things like wrestling and MMA training that I meant to do a year ago, I end up on FTU a lot more than I did in college and, as a result, have more time to CARE about all of Chris' nonsense.

I wouldn't say that I hold FTU posters in particularly high or low regard. It's about as varied as any group of friends I've had, and everyone has their good and bad qualities (except me, who is all good [or perfectly bad]). I am, of course, far more likely to point out someone's bad qualities here than I would elsewhere, but that seems fairly ubiquitous. Sometimes I wonder how skeptically FTU would respond if I told them how reserved I was in meatspace, but I don't bother since I don't really want to argue the point.

As for the manga characters in the tournament, I think it's obvious that I'm having fun with all of that. Everyone has their favorites and mine are just more apparent because I'm basically bound to weigh in on every single one of the three hundred and twenty entrants.
