I believe that there are cases for great men, but they can only establish themselves based on many other factors---most of which are economic.

I don't know why people call it the Great Man theory. It's pretty much a fact that science, technology, philsophy, etc is driven by great men, and that's what drives history.

It's just the politicians that are interchangeable.
