The effects in this movie were great. They borrow alot from the Matrix but it's still stylish enough to where atleast it adds something. But it's the violence and the other far fetched bullshit that made this movie great. Like when Wesley slapped his bestfriend with that keyboard smashing it on his face and the flying keys spelling out "Fuck You" (the "u" in you being the guys bloody tooth) as they flew through the air. This shit seriously has me wanting to take up marksmanship or whatever you call it when you shot things in cool ways that are awesome.
