How is it fucking possible that, being aware of alternatives, you can condone an energy source whose utilization relies on an extraordinarily dangerous physical infrastructure, and which produces hazardous, planet-destroying, indestructible waste as a byproduct?

Why do people even consider this shit anymore? What is this, the 1950s?

Why don't we go back to bleeding sick people and cutting off limbs to prevent gangrene while we're at it!

Basically the whole issue with nuclear power is that people equate it to nuclear bombs. Plus they like pointing out Chernobyl, because apparently a poorly run and designed power plant in the Soviet Union is the best we can manage.

I'd rather have small amounts of buried nuclear waste than large amounts of CO2 in the air.

It's actually worse than that, because a lot of the energy in the US is from coal, and that means mercury. And of course radiation, but that's probably not as big of a deal.

Nuclear power is so unprofitable, that no one has ever bought, or even insured a nuclear plant without lavish subsidies.


So lets just cut subsidies, and then let people build or insure as many money-losing plants as they want until it replaces coal and oil!
