The Best of Both Worlds was on today and I remember the music from that episode more than I remember the dialogue. |

I always get so embarrassed whenever I watch Troi say or do anything. I wonder who it was that conceived her as a character, and why they thought it was a good idea. |

It's pretty silly that Data's intuition changes on an episode to episode basis. |

Geordi is the only main character on Next Generation, besides maybe Worf, that has actually suffered any hardship and had a real life. Meanwhile, he also has the best sense of humor (except when the writers decide to massage Riker's long, hard shaft). He is is easily the best, most dynamic character. |

Oh, and this thread is for abrasive Star Trek thoughts only.
I want Theldorrin and Chris in here. |

I used to hate Troi, but now I think she's awesome.
They really focus too much on Data, and he's no Captain Picard.
I basically like everyone to varying degrees, although Geordi is probably my least favourite character. He's so pathetic. |

Also, I hate Best of Both Worlds. It's probably the worst two episodes of Star Trek: TNG. |

What's the other, Theldorrin!
And give me your general thoughts on the Borg. |

It seems like every time Troi uses her empathic abilities she ends up getting mind-raped. |

I mean the two parter Best of Both Worlds 1 and 2 are collectively the worst.
And it's solely because I blame it for ruining the Borg. Originally the Borg were a collective intelligence, with no person in charge or anything like that. Then with Locutus, they changed that, and it transformed (gradually) into being a hive-mind with a queen, which is much gayer.
As a collective they're basically a force of nature, and completely alien to anything we presently know. As a hive-mind they're basically intelligent ants. |

Although in fairness, there are episodes that are far worse to watch, even though they don't have any overall detrimental effect on the Star Trek Universe. Like Sub Rosa. |

Wasn't it mostly First Contact that did that? I thought it was an important concept that Locutus was an exception to the rest of the Borg, and that's why everything went awry with Hugh and Lore fucking their shit up.
The music in this episode is so epic, though. I wish I had it in MP3. |

Star Trek does not have internally-consistent rules of time travel.
It changes from "block universe" to "multiple timelines" to "ripple effect" to "no ripple effect" from one story to the next! |

First Contact really brought it past the point of no return. I view Locutus as the starting point for all that, though. If that didn't happen, Locutus wouldn't have had much of an impact on the Borg.
TNG movies are universally awful, and I hate that they try to make them all into action movies, as if that's what all the best episodes were. Or any episodes, really. |

You can't hate Paramount for basically releasing the only type of Star Trek movie that they can, given the market.
They're not going to spend 100 million dollars on a goddamn two hour version of "The Inner Light" or something. |

I completely agree about the action movies thing. Has there never been a Star Trek movie that ended with diplomacy or CUNNING?
What do you guys think of Wesley Crusher? I have no idea why he is so despised.
And on a related note, do you also hate Reginald Barclay for being pathetic, Theldorrin? |

I don't care about Wesley Crusher, but Wil Wheaton is absolutely horrendous.
I've already talked about that though. |
