If it's genuinely as hot as the level of cold you people are talking about, then your car probably isn't working, and if there aren't blackouts there are at least rolling brownouts.

The equivalent level of heat to what Mike was talking about is 150F. That's about the temperature of a sauna.

I guess, the problem with this topic is our concept of hot/cold differs.

For example, ALDP's "car heat is relieved as soon as I start driving with my windows down." sounds insane to me, because in our summer, putting your window down is insane, you'll be sweating like a pig in 2 seconds. The only time we put our windows down is in winter.

I don't understand what scale you're using, Theldorrin.

It gets to -10F here in Ontario without a lot of trouble. How is that equivalent to 150F, which it doesn't get to here in Ontario without a lot of trouble? Are you just taking *distance from lower comfort limit to actual temperature* and adding that to the upper limit? Why the fuck would you do that except because you're gay?

All numbers are approximations.

-10F is about 250 kelvin
60F is about 288 kelvin
130F is about 327 kelvin

They're all approximately the same distance from each other because the temperature systems use a linear scale.

If you calculate the mean kinetic energy of an oxygen molecule in each, you get:

5.17x10^-21 joules
5.96x10^-21 joules
6.77x10^-21 joules

Using the formula 3/2 kBT Where kB is the Boltzmann constant and T is temperature in Kelvin

As anyone can see, the difference between the top and the middle is about the same as the difference between the bottom and the middle. And the fact that they're not identical is due to rounding error.

Thus the difference in 60F is about 0.8x10^-21 joules.
