				| Obligatory tipping ruins society because it allows companies to pay shitty salaries, and then put the pressure of it on the customers. So waiters won't complain about their shitty pay with their management but complain about the crappy customers who dont tip high. Which is not the customer's responsibility anyway.
Also, it enforces the mentality that workers should get regular financial rewards for doing their job. Which is wrong. People should understand that they should put in effort, whether they get a tip or not. There is a contract between the employee and the employer, and it is the responsibility of the employee to do his job well.

I'll really feel stressed out if I ever have food in US restaurants.

				| I dont know whats so difficult in just adding a "10% Service Charge" in the final billing, and THEN if you WANT, you can tip something small if the service was exceptional. | |

				| MADali has no Idea how much people who depend on tips make in the US. Like black jack dealers who can pull in well over a 100 grand a year. Also in America a lot of jobs give you regular financial rewards for doing a good job in the form on bonuses for corporate jobs and spiff rewards for salesmen. Hell SANYO my companies top selling wireless handset maker gives money away all the time to Our sales people as dose Microsoft if they sell a lot of windows live with our DSL. I am sure if Yogurtman tops this quarters doughnut sales he will make a nice little bonus. So regular financial rewards are very common in this great country of ours, so let servers, card dealers, bar tenders, and even pizza guys get their tips they will make a lot more money that way. _________________

				| Mautty, then increase the fucking salaries!!! Just add 10% or 15% or 20% service charge, and then add that money to their salaries. Problem solved, instead of having each individual customer be responsible for ensuring he or she pays the employee's salary. | |

				| MADali you would have to adjust the salaries a lot to match what a Waiters earning potential is. God next thing you are going to say that commission is bad. I cant believe you went to business school. Its so dumb that you want to add the 20% then to let it be a customers choice to tip. _________________

				| How is that fucking dumb? Its what most countries do, many with better service industries
Sure, its more expensive. But in the US that has more to do with cheap spic labor than the tipping system. In fact spics exist because tipping is inefficient

				| Well its dumb becasue it limits what a server can make. Tips is the whole reason people wait tables or park fucking cars. I also dont want 20% added to the cost of anything to pay out higher wages to take over tipping. when the current system works just fine. _________________

				| Commission scheme is different because the company is paying the commission, not the customer.
How hard is this to understand?

And I really dont want to get into why adding the tip to the bill, and using that to pay the salary is same as getting a tip, because Theldorrin basically explained that to you.

You really are not in business, and are probably some spic construction worker.

				| 15% isn't really mandatory either it's a guideline, so if it were automatically added to their paychecks they wouldn't have any incentives to be over-achieving servers. | |

				| The company can give monthly bonuses, career plans, recognition, or better yet, just fire the fuckers who dont work as they should.
You act like no one else in any other industry does not work, unless the customer gives them a bit of money every time they correspond with them.

				| Tipping is pretty excellent. Even though in most jobs I perform at a high level, when tipping is involved, I can make upwards of 14-15$ a day and it certainly makes the demanding work a lot more enjoyable. Most customers enjoy tipping because it gives them a quality control on their service or experience. Rarely do I get no tips, or a terrible tip, but it does happen and people who do that are shitbags.
The thing is, tipping also keeps cost down for companies that deal with a lot of products that are at margin. Yes, I work at a nice restaurant so the food that we buy is more expensive compared to say, a Bennigans (Dune Hut or whatever your equivalent is in Dubai) so I understand the business strategy behind it. That being said, I'm a socialist and not a capitalist so yes, being a wage-slave and then passing the key to the shackles onto the customer is not proper, but whatever, places like McDonalds exist for a reason.
