I saw the old Zatoichi on the movie channel and I enjoyed it. It took me 3 nights to finish 7 Samurai and the version I downloaded wasnt the greatest but it was a great movie. I bought a Sonny Chiba box set a while back because it was cheap.

I bought a movie Duel to the Death a while back that was very enjoyable and pretty excellent.

At one point a guy cuts a ninja in half to find a ninja waiting inside that springs out

Duel to the Death is powerful. 20 foot ninja! Plus the part where the guy's head gets cut off, then flies off and is impaled on a stick, then screams before exploding is incredible.

You should basically just watch South Korean movies. Chinese ones are atrocious and only Ace Kendo-ish people will enjoy it.

Jap movies can be good, but its usually a mess, and weird.

The problem with South Korean movies is that it is usually too long, with almost no movie being 90 minutes like American movies. their average duration seem to be 120 minutes, which does get tiring.

Also, a lot of their movies, have a melodramatic third act, with lots of crying and people dying from long term diseases.

The sex comedy "Sex Is Zero" was like America Pie for the most of the movies, but then suddenly one of the girls is pregnant, has an abortion, and then during some kind of high school dance competition, bleeds all over herself, and is taken to a hospital.

I'm surprised no one brought up Versus yet. Did no one enjoy that movie?

Also, though I can't remember the name, but it was a movie that consisted of two short films that revolved around two characters being in one setting. One film had two female roommates clobbering the shit out of each other in their apartment, and the other had this immortal samurai fighting some guy he helped. I preferred the first movie.

The thing I liked about The Host movie is that they didn't punk out on editing out the monster chopping on people. And I enjoyed the beginning because it seemed sort of hilarious and normal that this beast was running people down and smashing them.
