The Dark Alliance games are still set in the Forgotten Realms setting. The setting is independent of the ruleset. In the second game, one of the characters is one of those elven supremecists, even.

The second NWN expansion is set in Undermountain and the Underdark, so I guess it's sort of Waterdeepish, but they really should have named an original series 'Waterdeep'.

They also focus way too much on drow, but I suppose that's very much due to Forgotten Realms only existing because of a certain drow ranger.

That and nerds are really huge fucking fags about the Drow even though planetouched characters are far more interesting. In general though it probably doesn't help that I'm fucking sick of elves.

There are really a lot of games set in Waterdeep. It's just strange that they never came around to naming one of them after it.

Early in my last year of college I played D&D with these people and there was this guy who made an ELVEN FIGHTER MAGE that wielded TWO SCIMITARS and he would like get up while describing his character and twirl his imaginary swords around and stuff.

I called him a fag and he held them to my throat!

It annoys me that they only explore a tiny fraction of Faerun. It's all very western shit, except they never bother with Evermeet, or things south of Calimshan (like Chult and all of those obscure places).

Also they always create a new villain, and make the drow into an awesome group, even though they're not really as dangerous as the Red Wizards, Zhentil Keep, or some of the countless other main villains of the realms.

It's annoying how TSR is like Marvel in that they'll let something be about one of their properties (Planescape, for example) but they won't let it really get into another one at the same time.

You only need to read Legends and Chronicles. And that's around 2000 pages.

Really, only Legends is necessary, but you need the background information that's given in Chronicles.
