I don't want anyone to think I'm a nerd or anything.

God, my bosses are going to see a SIDE of me that they have no idea exists. I'll never, ever be comfortable with them again.
My wholly separate and carefully-compartmentalized personalities... mixing!
Ugh.
I might as well invite fucking Fagtown posters while I'm at it.

Well, maybe not. I can't expel that kind of effort or genuine concern.

You should walk down the aisle to the music from the wedding in Excalibur.

Chris, can i come to the wedding? I have to kill Peter to resolve my dominance in Gunz.
Also, I might outright ruin things for you and your future, but that might be for the best if you think about it.

"Seeing as I've taken an interest in it, K-pop is probably just about to hit the American mainstream."
Chris, when exactly do you think anime, poker, and the goddamn fucking Internet took off? Would anybody be able to think of a common thread between "anime, the Internet, poker" outside of, I dunno, whoever puts together those shitty VH1 "I Love the (decade)'s" shows?
Somewhere on earth there's a guy right now who sees an eerie synchronicity between their personal tastes over the last 20 years, and the American mainstream's attitudes about dinosaurs, swing dancing, and Lost.

Re: So, My Head Hurts
My wife and I paid for our wedding out of pocket I forgot the exact amounts.
We got married outdoors at an art park so at most we donated 100 dollars to use the area outside. Then we had someone provide chairs for us that was another 100 or so.
200
The reception was free when we had the food through them meals were vegetarian 16 or so chicken 18 and prime rib 19 I think in the long run that was 2000 a dj was about 300
2500 her dress was 700 give or take and the engagement ring was 700
3900 - For her band she bought an antique piece off the internet for 225 bucks (also came with another ring used as an anniversary band.) My band was black ceramic and she worked in a jewelry store I think my band was under 50 bucks
4175, that was also in 2009 and like I said give or take because I forgot some of the numbers by now.

Re: So, My Head Hurts
Well, I can field each of those!
It's actually pretty easy to say when each of them took off, if you were there before they took off, which I was.
Anime: I got into anime in 1993. 1993! I'm not saying that nobody in America had ever heard of it, or that there wasn't a "scene" already, but it's the equivalent of being able to say you were a fan of Nirvana in 1989 during the Bleach days versus being a fan in like 1992 along with literally every 12 year old in the world. One thing I can say with confidence is that I was the only (ONLY) person in my high school who was an anime fan. People would look at my Gunbuster t-shirt and my Animerica magazines and didn't know what the fuck was going on at all. Even those who had an inkling called it "Japanimation."
Internet: I was on the Internet in 1994. I doubt anybody else here other than Theldorrin, and 98% of the people on Earth who now use it, can say that. I wasn't on every day, and I didn't use the Web until a couple of years later, but I got on ICB all the time to troll the chat. I would get on in the library at high school during lunch and somebody would be like, "what's Eyeball doing over there on the computer? Inter... net?" and then somebody else, somewhere else in the school, who just shat in his lined swim trunks, said "I think I just logged onto my internet!"
Poker: This one was an almost uncannily close call. March of 2003 marked the beginning of the poker boom. That's when The World Poker Tour first premiered on TV, and that show is what made everybody flip their shit about poker. I started playing *TWO WEEKS* before the first episode of WPT. I made it by the skin of my teeth, but I made it.

I wasn't on the Internet until 1995, I think. Maybe 1996.
I was on BBSes before that. As well as at the same time, because BBSes were more fun than the Internet. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@
Chris, I didn't actually want to know when you think those things became popular. My point was that there is nothing remarkable whatsoever about a stupid 35 fuckbag like you having taken an interest in things that became popular in your lifetime. Duhhhhh yeah ive got a feeling k-pop is on the verge of being the next anime, i just have a sixth sense for these things

I remember reading manga for Dragon Ball when I was Akira Toriyama's roomate and he was all like "check out this manga I am writing... this crazy thing will never sell though..."
