Maybe it was a Catholic thing.

Hide under your desks in the event of the coming of the Rapture!

I remember having a lot of Tornado drills in elementary school, which was basically the same procedure. It could have just been a way of slowly phasing out the drills until we were sure Russia was cool.

People always bitch about those old nuclear bomb drills because hiding won't save you if a bomb goes off three feet in front of your face.

I'm pretty sure if a nuclear bomb is dropped in your vicinity, your spacial relationship to a school desk has a very low chance of effecting your survival.

Yes, if the windows were broken inward I'd hate to have a wood umbrella over my head. It would be much better to be bent over ripping my buttcheeks apart with my pants down.

Also, it's so limiting to insist that the desk effect your survival. Can we loosen it a bit and only require that it affect your survival?

To affect your survival in any positive manner, it would have to effect your survival.

This thread is about you thinking that the destructive radius of a nuclear bomb is equal to the radius of instant total incineration!

Seeing a nuclear blast coming at you would be a great time to have sex with your cousin.

I dunno MJ, those shockwaves move pretty fast.

You would probably need to have had your pants down before you even saw it!

Maybe the radiation would genetically alter both of you enough to where you weren't even related anymore.
