I finished watching this movie, and I though about Theldorrin's statement the other day about how "things are getting better" and I literally shrieked with laughter. Every living system on this Earth is in decline. The biosphere is fucked. Every inch of this globe and every living thing on it is being plundered and exploited into oblivion due to human greed and the complete disconnection from nature that has occurred since the industrial revolution began. The Earth is a poisoned, raped, dying husk.

Everything, literally everything, to do with modern society is wrong. The state of things now is so utterly backwards and perverted. It is a nauseating Grand Guignol carnival of hideousness.
