Listen you filthy faggots, books are written to be enjoyed deeply and to reward mastery. Reading Blood Meridian and going "haha, he had a cannon in his bedroom!" and not getting that the judge represents, I don't know, Satan or something, is reading half a book.

I always forget what happens in books. I might remember certain characters, or general ideas/themes, but I almost always forget specific details.

I try to read a book a month and use reading as a way to keep my brain going now that I don't do anything too mentally strenuous, but I've been pretty terrible lately. I'm halfway through Grendel and I love it, but for whatever reasons I have no desire to do anything right now.
